You think Justin Fields is bumming out that Bagent is doing well?

Recommended Posts

Deep down it's only human. He's been working his ass off for over 2 years now to be the Bears QB of the future. Bagent comes in to this 1-5 team and in his first NFL start as an UDFA looks really good.

It's gotta suck a little to be Fields watching this.

No. If Secret Bagent Man keeps it up, Da Bears will not have a shot at Caleb.

Good. As a Bears fan, no Caleb is good Caleb. Drake Maye is the man.

I'm not talking about "team player". I'm sure the guy is. It's just gotta be rough sleeping at night.

Sounds like a typical Bears pick.

Bears got a quarterback that knows how to manage a game...fields will be the new collin kapernick

Not even a little bit. Bears D won that game. Bagent's 5.6 yards a completion won't scare anyone...

It's his first game ever started in the NFL and is playing in a complex offense. His rating is just under 100.

He is already 1000x better than Daniel Jones who the Giants unload a Brinks truck for. 😆

I was kind of hoping for ending season surgery on his hand but only because I'm sick of waiting on the guy to be consistent not because I wish him ill will. Fields will be successful in the league but he needs a better offensive coordinator to set up the game scripts for him. Ones that are much simpler than what they are trying to do in Chicago.

Bagent is smarter and quicker at reads and understanding the offense than Fields. I would just like to see Bagent in there for the rest of the year and if he can't handle it, then see what slot Carolina gives the Bears in next year's draft.

Please give cross-eyed Jim Carrey a break. He sees double.

I never watched the game but most players making their first start get to run a fairly basic offense without too many audibles at the line.

probably a stripped down version of the regular offense.

I was not expecting big numbers but I did think that whatever the coach had him doing would be things he did well in practice leading up to the game.  Vegas defense isnt exactly a powerhouse so the fact there is not a lot of pro tape on Bagent would have worked to his advantage in this one.

ok I've now watched one of those abbreviated games where they show key drives.

Bagent looked good for the most part.   poised in the pocket.  able to run out of danger to extend plays.   he does still stare down his first read on occasion.   he didnt pay for it in this case because when he threw it his man was open enough that it didnt matter.   but against a good defense that would be a problem for him.

I do think he looks like he could be a better pro QB than Fields.    of course neither QB is a finished product yet.  both still have some learning and development ahead of them.   but I enjoyed watching him play.   hes definitely a player of interest for me.

Bagent might get another start.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said Justin Fields will once again be considered doubtful for Sunday night’s game vs the Chargers due to his dislocated thumb. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It sounds like it will be Tyson Bagent drawing another start next week against the Chargers. Fields remains week-to-week at the moment with his next chance to return in Week 9.

At the very least, the Bears have a quality back up QB for a long time in Bagent and possably a future QB starter. I've been all in on this guy for this whole year.

It’s a nice story but let’s not get too carried away here.

So far Bagent is averaging 5.7 yards per attempt, which puts him 34th in the league. That’s not going to get you very far if it doesn’t improve.

I'm just saying, reserve judgement. He showed the NFL that the stage isn't too big for him. Dude played at Liberty for God's sake.

He did? Didn't see anything about him playing at Liberty. A real Bears fan would at least know where the guy they don't stop irrationally praising went to college...

So when's the last time you watched a Liberty game?

And you are right, I can't list all D1 and D2 schools. It's not in my interest.

Well, happily, we agree in the end. I also think judgment should be reserved. Nice little story so far and I am rooting for him, but he’s gotta show he can get the ball downfield

Agreed. Let's see if they open things up a bit for him this week.

I think they will.

And Against the Chargers he has a chance to do some good things as their defense has not performed up to the level it should so far this year.

If the bears coaching is worth their salt, I expect some better numbers next week.

Check out the video in this link of Chase Daniel's take. It's pretty cool.  It's the video after the main one.
