Do You Still Get In The Holiday Spirit At Christmas Time ?

Recommended Posts

Snowing at night around Christmas time still gives me somewhat of that childhood feeling or hearing my favorite Christmas song on the radio when I'm out somewhere. So do ya ?

We don't get the snow here, but yeah, I love the Christmas season.  The decorations, the music, the anticipation of the looks on your family's faces when they open presents.  This year my daughter will be back home after moving to NYC in August, looking forward to that the most.

much like the timing of this post, the fact that Thanksgiving gets largely overlooked so people can start engrossing themselves in christmas as soon as halloween is over has taken a lot of the interest out of it for me over the years.

Not bashing your thread, just found it ironic

I prefer thanksgiving myself. It pretty much checks off all the boxes people usually mention for x-mas (friends, family, good food, booze, football, good moods.. maybe minus whoever is hosting ) with the exception of presents. Personally, I enjoy giving gifts and kind of dislike receiving them. My 89 year old grandmother still gets upset if she doesn't have an x-mas list for everyone in the family . I am tough to shop for and have been more minimalistic recently so I end up returning most gifts. Experiences over stuff... so the gifts I usually give are things like broadway tickets, sporting events, concerts, gift cards to destination restaurants (ex. somewhere in AC that my grandmother likes and it just means the actual gift is spending a day together eating and gambling)
