I‘m going to Iowa in July and hotels were pretty full, a few were sold out.  It’s like 98 there with 1000% humidity and did I mention it’s focking Iowa.

The economy is ruined!!!11

so a thousand people renting out hotels with credit cards, speaks for the entire economy? C'mon man.

It’s bad hotels, airports, restaurants are filled. Stock market at all time highs. Property values through the roof. Things are so hot the Fed can’t lower interest rates.

I was thinking Batman and he mouths out his posts in Christian Bale’s voice as he types.

I did not. If it’s trying to tell me airports are only filled because of illegals sleeping in benches, well I’m not buying it 😂

I don't give two chits. Surprised you're on board though. You should also be welcoming less government spending on the poors and tax breaks for the wealthy. Welcome to the Trump Train.

Sounds like someone needs to vote for some progressive policies as you are so passionate for the plight of poor folks. I’m proud of you and your 12 banned aliases 😂

This is real growth!

If progressives actually cares about the poor, the situation would not be getting worse in areas where they dominate the political arena.

Caring about the poor is not unique to one side of the aisle, the policy prescriptions are different; and conservative ideas are better.....they just dont lie to the poor about what it will take to get them out of poverty.

Let’s take expensive rent and housing prices. I’d say that’s a major issue impacting poorer folks and their ability to build wealth.

What’s the plan?

Someone indeed.  Guy votes progressive all day long but doesn't care as long as his wife's 401K is doing good.    That's called being a hypocrite.

Its a great question.  It appears as though the Democrat approach is in lock step with their standard approach to most problems, blame some "evil" participant

Conversely, we can see the Republicans focusing on the marketplace, which is the correct place to look. When prices rise, its not corporations being evil, they are simply reacting to the market.  The Republican plan includes touching on a range of market-centric elements.

So rather than saying business is evil; its not.  Instead the focus should be on what is happening in the market, and then to do as little as possible to pervert the market while creating avenues for expanded access.

I am waiting for someone to realize that COVID really put us into this "remote" work area.....and there is plenty of commercial space that could be converted to residential, and that would provide an immediate relief to prices.

Move all the poor into strip malls and swanky downtown business space sitting empty. I think that’s it!

Strip malls? I dont think those still exist.....🤔

If you want, however, to have an adult discussion about something tangible that could work  we can still do that. Or, you can continue being a child and using sarcasm as some weird shield

It's so easy to turn office parks into apartments! Just add 200 bathrooms and kitchens! So quick cheap and easy!  (sarcastically)

Right now zoning is going to be the most formidable issue.

I think the best path forward would convert these facilities into a mixed use scenario.   Multiple restaurants, office space can be retained, then a variety of residential(with a range of costs).

There will be plenty of people who might fight it, for a variety of reasons.  But a conversion that results in affordable housing will soften the residential market.

Install thousands of feet of plumbing, kitchens, bathrooms and some drywall and voila! You have a new 3500 dollar a month rental in downtown DC!

You think a Dem or especially a Progressive politician would be against subsidizing this? 🤔

Step away from the alt right news boyo.  If you actually believe that hotels and airports are packed with illegals you're way to susceptible to fake news which is all you get from the alt right Youtube and Twitter sources the alt righties on this board love so much.

My post was in jest.  You seem unwilling to ever consider that as you like to come crashing in with your tired boyo shtick.

I was hoping you might be inclined to disparage the idea.....but since Biden is on board.....    shouldnt you be on board?

After wrecking the tiny bit of credibility he told himself he had, Gutterboy has decided to just go all in and lie at every turn. Interesting strategy.  Mentally ill.

Not at all.  I think there are a formidable set of bureaucratic hoops that would have to be jumped through, but it can be done.

It sounds great. I’d pitch in some bucks via my taxes for a test trial.

So what other ideas are out there? How are you addressing rent, housing prices, when places like NYC have like a 1% vacancy rate?

I went to see Dead and Company on its opening night at the Sphere.  The next morning the Dow Jones hit 40,000.  The Dow retreated for a bit but is back above 39,000.  Gasoline has not risen in my arer this summer, hovering around $3.29 a gallon.  It did not even rise over the 4th of July weekend which is rare.  Those things are pretty good.

On the other hand insurance rates are kiling me.  Food prices are ridiculous, especially for beef and eggs, and locally (has nothing to do with this Administration) they are raising property taxes exhorbitantly.  As long as the markets hold I am doing fine and would have no difficulty with four more years like the last four.
