Sweeping criminal justice reforms in Illinois have had "overwhelmingly negative" effects

Recommended Posts

Couldn't see this coming....

https://www.foxnews.com/media/one-year-americas-dangerous-law-damaging-policing-profession-illinois-says-local-sheriff

Sweeping criminal justice reforms in Illionois have had "overwhelmingly negative" effects, a small town sheriff in the southern part of the state said a year after the law was implemented.

"These kinds of reforms and this kind of constant police-bashing rhetoric that we hear out of these – I'll just say it – out of these Marxist folks, it's having the intended result that they truly want," Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard told Fox News. "They're wanting to damage the policing profession and they're having some success at it."

"Policing leaders need to step up and stand against it," he added. "Very loud, very vocal, very strongly."

The Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today (SAFE-T) Act, which took effect on Jan. 1, 2023, overhauled Illinois' justice system with provisions that granted more freedoms to defendants and reduced certain felonies to misdemeanors. It also lowered the severity of some misdemeanors, like trespassing, and eliminated cash bail across the state.

Yeah, this is not going to end well.   Chicago will be a sh1thole in the coming months.

The agenda here from the authoritarian leftist bastards is not to destroy all police.   It is to dethrone the power of local and state police, and put controls and authority at the federal level.   These leftest bastards want even more authority at the federal level to shut down political dissent as if the police will be more accountable and less abusive if only we had complete federal oversight.   The truth is federal oversight leads to less accountability and more abusive behavior.   You just have to look at the completely different levels of justice in the Ashili Babbit murder at the hands of the feds versus George Floyd.   One gets brushed under the rug and the other gers life sentences to all involved.

It’s a simple plan.

When you allow the criminality under this guise of being more kind you create a runway for criminals.

And so you fail to punish bad behaviors, and remove the inhibition toward those bad behaviors.

so they effectively encourage the bad behavior among good people while clearing space for really bad people to harm the remaining good people

This is not complex at all, people are inclined toward bad behavior….but leftists think people will only be “good”….which is why their policies always fail

So, one "small town sheriff in the southern part of the state" says that the criminal justice reforms have had "overwhelmingly negative" effects.

Let's see some actual numbers and stats to back up this claim.

So you don't believe because of why?

What's his motivation to lie to the world about this status? I'm guessing you can go check if biden has a thought and run with that as you normally do in your collective liberal cult.

It is just the account of one and only one LEO in a Fox article with no data or stats given.

It may be true but I would like to see the actual numbers that support this claim.

So the biden cult opinion again. You know, your liberal leader who called Rittenhouse a white supremacist, and compared the border security agents to slave owners.

Keep up the liberal way squiddy.

A right wing sheriff who throws around the word “Marxist” is certainly an objective source of analysis.

Coming from a Marxist himself. Good one junior.

Acting like there isn’t a Marxist movement on the left.  There is, and they are getting results.

There isn't.

Which is not to say there aren't some on the left with Marxist views (however one defines that).

Using the word “Marxist” in this context makes it meaningless. It  was originally supposed to mean a group of ideas, originated by Karl Marx, that led to the workers controlling the means of production. Eventually, after the rise of Communism, it came to mean being in favor of redistribution of wealth regardless of earning power. (And, among extremists, a state dictatorship in order to enforce that redistribution.)

But among foolish people like this sheriff and those who support him here, it apparently has come to mean any liberal policy which conservatives don’t like. Which isn’t surprising but really inane and dumb.

These laws, which have nothing to do with Marxism, are mostly designed to resolve very real inequities and unjust outcomes in our justice system, many which involve race. Other reforms are essentially stopgap or creative measures intended to make up for the lack of money and resources spent in our justice system creating unnecessary and highly burdensome delays which also leads often to unjust outcomes.

As a result, predictably, some of these reforms are going to produce troublesome immediate outcomes. Some will improve the system. We won’t really know which is which until after many years and long analysis. But in the meantime, it will always be the knee jerk conservative  reaction to oppose any and all reforms that appear in any way to make things easier for felons or anyone caught in our justice system. These sorts of complaints can safely be ignored by thoughtful people.

The phrase refutes itself. It’s a contradiction. Marxism is a form of leftism which by definition rejects liberalism.

Leftists are liberals and vice versa in this country. You are just being stupid again.

Maybe now Illinois is like California and we can help ourselves to anything we want without paying.

How do you like the Wolverines’ chances today?

Feeling pretty confident. People say this is a down year for Alabama, whereas this is supposed to be as good as Harbaugh has had at Michigan. Sadly, I'm not as well versed as I would normally be in the position by position matchups to offer any real insight. If they can't win after gift-dodging Georgia, its on them.

Michigan seldom plays Alabama, the only time I can remember was when they had Shaun Alexander and we handled them.

I do wish Nick Saban had never left Michigan State.

The term liberal is misused.  There are virtually no liberals left in the Democratic party.  It is filled with radical authoritarian leftists.

Liberals are radicals for free speech.  Today's Democrats are easily the most anti-free speech low-life authoritarian dickheads in our nation's history.

LoL...Really.  I have never seen Tim be a free speech advocate.   Tim sees nothing wrong with big tech censorship and believes that believes that misinformation needs to be regulated.   Tim only believes in establishment news sources, much like you.  Also having the FBI raid the homes of Project Veritas and other conservstive news reporters is not a problem.   Outrageous billion dollar awards against people reporting controversial news is celebrated.   I would bet you think organizations which question the 2020 election results should be censored.  The amount of censorship in recent years is off the charts, including the FBI interfering with the election and suppressing the Hunter Biden story and then putting out misinformation.   This is not America.  People like Snowden need to be free.

Who do you think is telling Google, YouTube and Twitter to censor.  Federal bureaucracies colluded with all the tech giants and friendly media organizations.  But you find that a non-story.  So GTFO with your BS.  You love when conservatives get censored and especially were glad the way the FBI suppressed and covered up the Hunter story which enabled Biden to win.
