supermike80 1,803 Posted January 17, 2024 Ok what gives? They are everywhere and more are coming! Why? Do you watch these things? Do your wives? My wife will watch some actual cooking shows, but these competitions? Are they really watchable? Who wants to see that? And don't get me started on the kid cooking competition shows. Good god no. Alias Detective 1,389 Posted January 17, 2024 Chopped is the only one I watch.
Drizzay 699 Posted January 17, 2024 British Baking Show is quite enjoyable. It is completely different than American cooking competitions. The competitors actually like each other. There doesn't have to be a villain in each season, like the American producers always seem to want to push. Iron Chef used to be great, especially the dubbed Japanese version that they would show here in the late 90's. now there are too many "Iron Chefs" and it feels watered down. British Bake Off and Crime Scene Kitchen are probably the only 2 we've watched over the past couple years. And I really liked them. The rest we just don't really pay attention to. I don't even really watch the cooking shows anymore. I guess I watched those more when I was stuck in hotels 4 days a week on travel for work for the last 17 or so years before I got rid of that. Engorgeous George 2,126 Posted January 17, 2024 The original Iron Chef. The Chinese Iron Chef was the best, followed by the french and then the japanese. The chinese cuisine iron Chef could take cow eyeballs and a few sea urchins and in a wok create a traditional three tiered frosted wedding cake in under ten minutes. Bier Meister 1,657 Posted January 17, 2024 these days it is mostly top chef, but even that is getting stale. I am not watching many competition shows. the shows i enjoy include travel and regional information, whether it is cooking or just about local restaurants
