Heart Disease is RACISSS

Recommended Posts

Why do Black women have a higher risk of heart disease?

There are several reasons why Black women have a higher risk. “Social determinants of health play a significant role in the development of heart disease among Black women,” Dr. Rachel M. Bond, cardiologist and co-chair of the Association of Black Cardiologists’s Cardiovascular Disease in Women and Children’s Committee, tells Yahoo Life. Bond says that factors such as socioeconomic status, access to health care and education, along with systemic racism, contribute to 80% of health outcomes. Research shows that the stressors Black women face because of racism leads to increased inflammation and blood pressure, which affects their overall heart health and raises the risk of coronary artery disease.

But.....of course.....

Unfortunately, for those without the skin color that affords no accountability......they are left with life choices as being the issue.

But hey.....lets just keep telling people its their skin color instead of their choices......that sounds like a real path to success.....

Yes, but this is an oversimplification.

The overindulgence around McDonalds is because generally the food is less expensive than more healthy stuff, its easier than cooking and if your life is running from job to job this is your best bet.

People who have made wise life decisions will enjoy more success, and as a result more access to healthier food.

If you are retard....and you do dumb sh!t....your life is harder and shorter....

I worked for Frito-Lays a summer in college.

No joke, 80% of pork rinds sales are sold in urban areas.  I remember seeing people grab a big bag of pork rinds and a 2 liter of grape soda for lunch all the time.

One of the things we endeavored to teach our kids was respect for food.   How to approach it financially as well as from a health-centric perspective.

It was easy with the girls, the boy however....is another story.....   😬

He is getting there, but its a challenge to be sure.

This is from the first link.  I just can't look at/listen to this person and take health advice.  :dunno:
