Hillary had a lot of negative baggage and that was reflected in the polls with her high negative approval rating. The right had already defined her and she was never able to overcome that. Harris is pretty much a blank slate (much like Obama) and her upside is very high which is why she will not peak in popularity until after the convention.

She's done absolutely nothing in the last 3.5 years to change that.  In fact, you could argue she made her reputation even worse with how she's handling the border and how she's a terrible speaker.

Wouldn’t be my first reason to base my vote on. 

Don’t think too many are certain Kamala wins, tons of time left. She obviously gives them a much better chance tho.

There were many polls showing Haley was a much better choice in the general election versus Biden. IIRC at one point was close to double digits in national polls.
