Should teams face penalties for not disclosing injuries

Recommended Posts

Look I know I know. And no I don’t have CMac I actually have Mason in 4 leagues, but the NFL makes so much damn money because of fantasy football. Should there be a penalty for not disclosing injuries?  The specially preseason?

I don’t care about gambling or other teams knowing who’s hurt.  But fans should know who they should expect to see in the game.

So yes.

The Personnel (Injury) Report Policy has been a cornerstone of public confidence in the NFL for
many decades. The credibility of the NFL, teams, owners and team personnel requires full
compliance with and uniform enforcement of the policy. The intent is to provide full and complete information on player availability. It is NFL policy that information for dissemination to the public on all injured players be reported in a satisfactory manner by clubs to the league office, the opposing team, local and national media, and broadcast partners each game week of the regular season and postseason (including for the two Super Bowl teams between the Championship Games and Super Bowl).
The information must be credible, accurate, timely, and specific within the guidelines of the policy, which is of paramount importance in maintaining the integrity of the game.
A violation of the policy may result in Commissioner discipline, which may include a fine on the involved club, fines or suspensions of involved individuals, as well as the possible forfeiture of draft choices by the involved club.

You might not care about gambling, I don’t gamble, but it’s the number one reason.  Like you said fans should know, fans of gambling is the number one reason.

I agree. They should disclose. One thing though, is I heard this past week that CMC tried lis leg out to see how it felt and it was actually the worst that injury has felt to him. Teams definitely screw around, but it's nearly impossible to enforce that rule. It can never be solved because every injury, ever doctor, every coach, and every player are different when it comes to injuries. Oh, and every player position. RBs won't play in a full hand club cast, but some linemen will. We just need to adjust league rules and betting habits to account for it.

Tough question. I don't know how much NFL teams have to disclose about personnel/players in advance of individual games, & in the case of CMAC, the start of the regular season ?

I suppose if it could be proven that the coaches knew CMAC wouldn't be ready until week 5 or 6 during training camp, but strung along FF players & gamblers until shortly before game one, a lawsuit/fine might be in order. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain that type of info wouldn't be officially documented.

Translation: Good luck with that.

With that in mind, I'd say professional sports teams and coaches, aren't in the business to coddle gamblers. Like the Federal Reserve isn't/shouldn't be in the business of coddling the stock market.

You take your chances.

BTW: If you play in any 'for money' FF league, isn't that gambling ?
