Eddie Murphy hasn't had a special that was a hit in 40 years :dunno:

It's okay to appreciate the past.

Fair enough!   Honestly, I've literally never laughed at a Eddie Murphy joke during stand up.  Some of his movies were "ok" (shrugs)

A slight chuckle. But why is he dressed like Thriller?  I get it, it was the 80's.

How old are you? Granted, I loved Delirious so much, I have heard it hundreds of times (used to have the cassette in my car) I still think it stands the test of time.

Raw (his next stand up show) was terrible.

Also, he dressed like that cause he could. (1983)

I am 42.  I am not hating, I just was never into Eddie Murphy. The whole SNL Gumby thing.   Just meh.   But I'm sure there are comedians I love that you would hate, it's all subjective! That's why i love comedy!

Okay, Andrew.

He had about a 2 - year run in late 80’s early 90’s that was unrivaled with stand ups at the time.

Quote

Rolling Stone's February 2015 appraisal of all 141 SNL cast members to date, Murphy was ranked second (behind John Belushi). "It is customary (and accurate) to say that Eddie Murphy is the only reason SNL survived the five-year wilderness without Lorne Michaels", the magazine noted.

I get why he wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.  But, you implied he didn't play sold out arenas.  He absolutely did.

He seems like he'd be down to fight.  I wonder if I could bait him into a fight.

I always dreamed of fighting a celebrity that thinks he's a bad ass just to see if I could win.  Samuel L Jackson is like the main one that I've dreamed of fighting, but Andrew could work.  Or maybe Joe Pesci, but I think he's so small it wouldn't be much of fight.

The only thing wrong about the Dice Man is when he does standup, every mook from New Jersey in the audience that night thinks they are also the Dice Man.

As far as comedic talent and writing. Dude was not good.

Can't deny how popular his shtick became though.

In February 1990, Clay became the first comedian to sell out two consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden.

More of a fad than a comedy legend. Don’t get me wrong, I laughed my ass off during his run.  I was in college.

Oh, so he did it once.  In the Rogan interview he implied he was doing it every week.  Poor, Andrew.

Maybe you can send him some can mail and boost his confidence, so he doesn't have to misrepresent his success.

Clay was the first and only comedian to sell out over three hundred sports arenas across the country to an audience of more than twelve million people.

I find that hard to believe, but I guess I was wrong.  Good for Andrew.

Clay starred in numerous feature film and television roles, including Entourage (the movie), a critically-acclaimed role in Woody Allen’s Academy Award nominated Blue Jasmine, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane and a standout role in the final season of HBO’s Entourage.

Clay's HBO and Showtime specials include Dice Man Cometh, Andrew Dice Clay: INDESTRUCTIBLE, Andrew Dice Clay Presents The Blue Show.

Clay has released numerous best-selling DVDs (No Apologies and Dice Rules!) and a string of multi-gold and platinum selling CDs (The Day The Laughter Died and Face Down, Ass Up).

I'm no fanboy.  I liked Clay and thought it was funny at the time.  It's just that too many people just say stuff on this forum.  Google AI is just a click away, it's easier than ever to fact check yourself. :dunno:
