Up to 15 years in prison for viewing far right propaganda

Recommended Posts

We are so fortunate that DEI Kamala didn't win. I can't even imagine the Wokeness, fraudulent spending and embarrassment that we'd have to endure as a Country.

The UK already imprisons thousands of people every year for exercising free speech. Once upon a time the US was the beacon of freedom for the world.   Let's become that beacon once again.

anything that might tend to denigrate the Democrat party = "misinformation"

If you can wrap your mind around that then you understand liberals

You really need to stop and ask yourself before you post "does this seems exaggerated, maybe even fake"?  Also, maybe the when might be helpful-as that Breitbart headline is from 2017!

Here is the original story that Breitbart used as a source for your fear. Amber Rudd: viewers of online terrorist material face 15 years in jail

Quote

People who repeatedly view terrorist content online could face up to 15 years behind bars in a move designed to tighten the laws tackling radicalisation the home secretary, Amber Rudd, is to announce on Tuesday.

A new maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment will also apply to terrorists who publish information about members of the armed forces, police and intelligence services for the purposes of preparing acts of terrorism.

The tightening of the law around viewing terrorist material is part of a review of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy following the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks in Britain this year.

“I want to make sure those who view despicable terrorist content online, including jihadi websites, far-right propaganda and bomb-making instructions, face the full force of the law,” said Rudd. “There is currently a gap in the law around material [that] is viewed or streamed from the internet without being permanently downloaded.

“This is an increasingly common means by which material is accessed online for criminal purposes and is a particularly prevalent means of viewing extremist material such as videos and web pages,” added the home secretary.

A Home Office analysis shows that since 1 September 2016 Daesh or Isis supporters have published almost 67,000 tweets in English, promoting online links to their propaganda on a range of online platforms and making English-speakers the second most important audience for Daesh supporters after Arabic. Figures also show that in the first eight months of this year, more than 44,000 links to Isis propaganda were created and shared.

The proposed changes will strengthen the existing offence of possessing information likely to be useful to a terrorist under section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 so that it applies to material that is viewed repeatedly or streamed online. Currently the power applies only to online material that has been downloaded and stored on the offender’s computer, is saved on a separate device or printed off as a hard copy.

Sure, ruin a potentially funny thread with the facts.

Think of that definition of "terrorist materials" and then think of liberals saying that conservatives are terrorists and that Trump is authoritarian Hitler and that the Trump voters want our democracy gone.

I think we have a different definition than you  all do. So... different "truths".

Understandably. That can't be right.

And no, that is not where the US would have been headed if Kamala had won.

I guess when Trump swears in, the Congress and the Senate are gone as of that moment. All local politicians will be replaced immediately with hand picked right wing Trump military loyalists.

This should really be interesting.

The UK is lost.  Hopefully, Trump considers unfriending much of Western Europe.  They don’t share our values anymore.

If he ousts some of them, they will straighten up and beg to be back in favor.

😆 like I said I wasn't sure about the current accuracy of the headline, but the point is that is where the UK is headed. Now that they throw people in prison for sharing memes, is it really that far off? Like I said, liberals nitpick everything and then pretend like they have no idea what anyone is talking about. Thanks for proving me right once again.

They are throwing people in prison for sharing memes? Really? What memes?

Then why have Bill Gates, Tim Walz, and Hilary Clinton all said free speech doesn't cover disinformation or hate speech? You don't see the relationship between the UK throwing people in jail for sharing memes and this subtle push to clamp down on speech?

The liberal government literally coerced and colluded with social media sites to stop certain story's from circulating that were true, and they pushes these sites to deplatform individuals who didn't agree with the narrative. This is a fact.

As I suspected it was more than just sharing some memes on social media:

Leanne Hodgson, 43, was jailed for two and a half years for repeatedly pushing industrial bins at a police line in Sunderland.

Stacey Vint, 40, who pushed a burning wheelie bin into a row of police officers in Middlesbrough, was sentenced to 20 months in prison.

Owned

He posted about taking part in a riot and shared a derogatory meme about migrants in a local Facebook group dedicated to protests.

You should work for MSNBC.  You ignored the half-dozen of examples in the article which were prison sentences based on social media postings and instead posted the two who took part in violent acts.  So you ignore all the pertinent examples and highlight the others to somehow deflect.  Your unbelievable stupidity is a good deflection. The braindead propaganda is strong in this one.
