MLB 2025

Rays starting to turn a corner. This is a great example of why I became a fan. Just a really well run organization that can't just buy wins. I was bummed when they traded Randy to Seattle because he is a fun player to watch and the biggest name they had, but he is batting .213  and the Rays are sitting with a +47 run differential (3rd best in the AL). They lose what they thought was their franchise player in Wander Franco and no big deal, Junior Caminero is waiting in the wings. If McClanahan is back by the end of July, it will be interesting to see if they flip one of their other starters. Zack Littell would make the most sense.

Next week will be a big test with Boston and the Mets

@Mookz

I guess it is the O's turn...

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/06/orioles-acquire-scott-blewett.html

The Orioles announced that they have acquired right-hander Scott Blewett from the Braves in exchange for cash considerations. Outfielder Jordyn Adams has been designated for assignment to open a 40-man spot. Fellow outfielder Ramón Laureano has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list and takes the active roster spot vacated by Adams. Blewett has not yet reported to the team and is therefore not on the active roster yet, so a spot will have to be opened for him when he does link up with the O’s.

It was reported yesterday that Atlanta was going to designate Blewett for assignment but it seems they lined up a trade before even getting around to that DFA.

I hope one team from Chicago wins tonight and the other one doesn't.   Glad we get the sucky one

Maybe Jac can build some confidence this weekend against lesser opponent heading into what will be the closest to playoff baseball we'll see during the regular season after that with the Yankees coming to town. He's been hitting the ball hard, and just need to see more of those hard hit balls end up being hits.

Also should only be 2 more OF starts for him before becoming eligible, although looks like he is DH tonight.   Did you end up getting him @Hardcore troubadour ?

That's awesome.  He's due for a good performance. :music_guitarred:

I'm a Chicago fan all the way through (minus the White Sox), but I'm really just sick of the Dodgers and Yankees.

Tonight I'll make one of my smallest wagers ($35) on the Cubs. Not because I'm a fan, as I never bet with the heart, but because they are the highest scoring team in baseball with the largest run differential of all the teams and they are +166 right now. I put the Cubs odds at winning this one at about 40%. I think that's worth +166.

On the other side of things, Hello Skubal.

Nope. One guy spent almost the whole nut. Didn’t see that coming. We put in 65pct which is very high. We did get Cameron a few weeks back. Been good knock wood. Need Ragans back to form.

You got a lot of help from the Cubs third base coach today but that's what good teams do. Take advantage of it. Damn, I hate the loss but more than that I'm psyched Brown held his own against Skubal. That young dude was last on the Cubs starting pitching depth even before the injuries and killed it today against the best team in baseball.

Such a great thing to see him really step up.

Detroit played some stellar defense. This series is a great match up. I hope it's a sign of things to come.

It's sweet to get that first win in a series like this.

Congrats on the win but Go Cubs.

I think I heard someone say that. I know Hoerner, Shaw and Horton were first round picks. Shaw has been a fun story this year. Sucked, got sent down, and came back fixed. He can hit and field again.

Throw in Javier Baez to the first rounders. That guy can still play. One of my favorite players.

I doubled down today on a Cub -1.5. I think they just hit another home run.

Hell yeah.  Series win against that team.   Fantastic!  Cubs are good.  Tigers are very good at home.   Hope they can get some home advantages in the playoffs

I wish it went the other way around but I'm not surprised by it. Unless the Cubs get better at pitching they aren't a WS contender in my eyes. It sucks they lost Steele for the year and Imanaga for much of it but things are the way they are.

I like Detroit a lot, but it's a long way to the playoffs. One thing the Cubs have going for them is that they have played over half their games so far against the NL West, LA, SF, SD, Arizona, and also against NYM, Detroit, and Philadelphia. So they are battle tested and still 15 games over .500.

If they can reel in a pitcher or two from non contenders, then their current back end starters can go to the pen with a bunch of experience this season. But again, it's a long season. 16 games still until the break. And the Cubs are in a stretch of 26 games in 27 days. Yikes.

Cubs in Phlthy tonight. Detroit goes to Baltimore tomorrow.
