For you Puds who play a week 18 Championship (ESPN Fantasy), Gibbs is in line for a MONSTER game this week. 20+ points easy, book it.

Top 3 if Montgomery is gone.  Early 2nd round if Montgomery is there.

If Gibbs keeps producing in the playoffs like he did in his last game, he’s going first rd no matter what Montgomery does.

Probably.  Just like Breece Hall went top 3 in most redraft leagues this year based on how he finished last year….which was also a mistake.  And just like with Breece, it won’t be me.

Yeah GIBBS was phenomenal this year. Surely Montgomery will be back in the fold next year and eat into Gibbs touches but I think Campbell.and his coaches will find.a way.to give Gibbs the ball more next year. I don't think he's.a.back that can handle bellcow duties the whole season so it'll be interesting to see what the split will be between the 2 backs. I also think Gibbs still merits consideration of being a top 5 pick in drafts.next.year.even with Mknty getting.touches. I think he'll have better production, if that's possible, in the 2025 season.

Yeah, looking at other players going high in the first round GIBBS may not be a top 5 pick but he certainly should be picked in the top 10. Even with Monty likely back next year Gibbs receiving ability makes him a top 5 runningback IMO. I think he'll be a lock for over 1,500 total scrimmage yards in 2025.

If Montgomery returns, no way I’m buying Gibbs that early.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Lions tried to keep him.   by Keeping Monty around Gibbs doesnt have to do as much hard running between the tackles.

His presence cuts down on the wear and tear on Gibbs.   and given how close the Lions are to possibly winning a superbowl, I could see Monty giving the Lions a team friendly deal to stay.

its actually a smart way to go.   Not great for fantasy but for the Lions its saving some of the tread on the tires so that Gibbs can have a longer career.   I think its smart management.  Monty doesnt have that much time left in his career anyhow, but as long as hes productive why wouldnt they go the way they have been going?   of course if Monty asks to get paid, then probably he will go.   team cant afford to open the bank vaults for an older RB.   I suspect Monty knows this.   but given how many older RB's were on the chopping block the last few years, I dont think he wants to go there either.  its risky for him to try to get paid.  might find the unemployment line instead.

Gibbs was a top 5 rb when Monty was there. He is an easy top 5 pick next year, as he was for me this year...

Gibbs is good.  no doubt.

he just wont be ranked higher than this until Monty moves on.

lots of wishcasting in terms of having Monty move on, but I honestly think they work good together as a tandem.

He’s been amazing since week 15, that’s the game Montgomery was injured in,   He avg 25 points per game.

This does make sense.  And if Montgomery is gone, I’d expect them to bring in another complimentary back.  This makes sense for Gibbs.  His season at Bama, he got nicked up a bit.  I remember how odd it was that Bama wasn’t using Gibbs as a workhorse towards the end of the season the way they’d traditionally done with their lead backs.  It made me a little cautious with Gibbs because I wasn’t sure if he could be a workhorse in the NFL.  He’s been fantastic so far.  This formula is working.  That’s what makes it so hard for me to trust him with a high pick.  So far I’ve been wrong, and missed out.  Next year will be interesting.

well, lots of RB come into the league and stay healthy for a year or two.  its once you get into year 3, 4, and 5 that injuries start to catch up with some players.

some guys get hurt in year 1 but most of those guys were also getting hurt in college.

Either way, my philosophy is..... if it aint broke, dont try to fix it.    right now, the run game is running as it should in Detroit.   I know fantasy managers are sad that Gibbs isnt getting more touches, but hes not doing badly at all.   The benefits of having Monty here for 2 years to share the burden has likely extended Gibbs career by a year already.  If Monty can stay 1 or 2 more years, that will likely save him another.   You gotta treat the RB position as if it is a depreciating asset.  Most RB's are done by the time they hit 28 or 29 years old.  some RB's who are heavily used are done even sooner than that.   And Gibbs is not built like Derek Henry.  he cannot take that kind of punishment.   So having Monty there really cuts down on the number of big hits he takes out there and likely has prolonged his expected life as a starter.     I'd view it as similar to doing maintenance on your car.  if you do it when you should, your car will last a lot longer than it will if you dont.

I think Monty has 2 good years left in him.   and If I were Him I'd wanna stay where the chances of winning a superbowl are good.   I would not care as much about the money. (within reason of course)

Agreed, Gibbs is top 5 with Monty still on the team...

it also sometimes happens when you have a committee of sorts that works.  team decides to get rid of the 'weaker back' in the committee, and then the main guy struggles with the heavier workload.

to that end, if Monty's ask in terms of cash is reasonable, I think Detroit should keep him another year or two.

I suspect that the tandem actually is the better scenario for the team.  Not sure its better for fantasy.  The Jury is out there.   but its definitely a good setup for the Lions

well, this is likely his best shot at it here.   I'm not sure he gets a better one. (unless he stays to play another year in Detroit.... even then there are no guarantees.  Injuries happen people have bad years.

but It will sure be interesting to see how far they get.
