They sort of did, when they elected Biden 4 years ago. And the Congressmen who’ve been approving the funding for the Ukraine war. That’s probably the most bipartisan legislation Joe passed in 4 years in office.

Lame ducks from either party should not be able to make these types of decisions.   Put them on hold until the newly elected people can decide what to do.  That includes pardons.  If you are going to pardon someone do it while you are a sitting POTUS, not after you lost an election.

That's wonderful but we're pissing away money. I've said it a million times, they don't need money or missiles, they need bodies. They'll NEVER outlast Russia. 

As someone who trained with Ukraine Forces in 2017, trust me, they aren't the most skilled fighters on the planet.

I'm inclined to agree with this.  A lame-duck POTUS should not be able to do much other than prep for the new person.  Both sides do it; this isn't aimed at Biden specifically, definitely the pardons.  Although I don't recall Trump doing stuff like this Ukraine thing on his way out.

This is however a unique situation, because Biden isn't running anything.  Whoever is running the country clearly wants to make a statement with these moves.

I think it’s a waste of $ too. But it’s what the people voted for and both parties have consistently supported it. Once Trump gets sworn in he can end it. That’s how it works.

I'm not making a political thing. I'm just saying that whoever is President is making a terrible mistake by just fueling this war. 

It's sad and unfair but it's going to take Ukraine giving something up to end this War. I see no other outcome. Putin isn't just walking away empty handed. He somehow has to justify all the Russian lives lost.

If Biden entered office in 2021 and immediately approved some sort of firearms bill allowing anyone to buy a gun with no background checks and people were saying "this isn't what we voted for" ... would your response be   "They sort of did, when they elected Biden"...   I highly doubt it.

Biden earned a full term. For most of that, a majority of Americans supported some kind of aid in Ukraine and several bills passed congress with overwhelming support. Arguing that he should stop carrying out his agenda because he leaves office in 2 weeks is sort of dumb. And I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t support the Ukraine war. Ending it might be the best thing Trump does.

Right, but I am not making any argument that he should stop carrying out "his agenda".   All I did was state that using the overarching argument that "this IS what the American people voted for" is simplistic and lazy.  By that logic, a President can do whatever they want after they are in office and it can be defensed by the simple fact that they were voted POTUS 

The support for aid in Ukraine that you talk about happened after he was elected. Plus, congressional support for something does not always equal citizen support

Again I am not arguing for or against aid in Ukraine. I'll give my opinion on that below...  I was simply addressing the excuse that was given or statement that was made. 

 

 

As for aid in Ukraine, sending tons of money over there is not and has never been the best solution. I recall during Trumps debate with Harris where the moderators kept asking him if he wanted Ukraine to win the war and he kept responding he wanted the war to end. Obviously that's not the answer they wanted, they wanted him to specifically say he wanted Ukraine to WIN. It was obviously a trap question. ... but as far as I'm concerned, Ukraine wins when the war ends. Unfortunately they might have to make some concessions. This stuff happens all the time. At this point it is far better to make some concessions and end the war than to carry on with lives being lost.

There was no Ukraine conflict before Biden was in office. For most of his term, a majority of Americans have supported backing Ukraine and funding bills overwhelmingly passed Congress. It’s not like this was a wildly unpopular policy he’s been ramrodding through.

I agree and meant both sides.  I know Biden is not making any decisions on his own, but he has to sign off on them.
