I wonder how many 2-pt fails will cost teams games before idiot coaches stop.

Buffalo's down 21-10. They score a TD and had they kicked the PAT it would 21-17. Down 4. They scored again and again went for 2, chasing points. Had they kicked a PAT there too, 24-21, up by 3. KC scored a TD to go up 27-22. They went for 2 and got it. Had Buffalo kicked those 2 PATs, KC would have done the same to make it 28-24 KC. Buffalo scores a TD and, had they kicked the PAT, they would be up 31-28. KC's FG would have TIED the game at 31-31.

But nope. Coaches gotta show how smart they are and go for two!

And so they lost...again!

Analytics has ruined the game.

Coaches don't know how to take calculated risks any more.

agreed.  you maybe gamble on the 2 point convert if its late in the 4th quarter and time is not on your side to gain the extra points.

but I suspect this is a phase that is going to eventually (at least in part) fall away from the game.

analyitics are something that is done with mathematics.   and thats fine but the reality is the odds of making a 4th and 1 gamble is likely different against the chiefs than it is against a different NFL team.   And the mathematics cannot take into account the flow of the game and momentum (if you will)

so after getting that TD they go and shoot themselves in the foot by going for 2 and failing.   giving the Chiefs a free momentum boost.

The reality is, quite often being the good team that is favoured has a mental effect on the underdog sometimes and then the underdog just goes out and beats themselves by taking unnecessary risks.   happens a lot in fantasy too.

The 4th and 5 play was one of the dumbest plays ever. It's stupid ANYTIME you take one of your 11 out of the play but you make the call in a must have down for the game and tTHAT is what that play does. It's all it does. STUPID.

#10 motioned back to where the QB was. Yeah, he's never getting the ball cause they never throw it to that player when that play is called so it's now 11 on 10. I have no idea what idiot came up with that play but numerous team are so stupid they run it. He was actually the guy wide open but the play doesn't call for it to go to him and with a blitz, you would never have time to find him open...8-10 yards behind the LOS ...and you need 5 yards. So stupid.

Those sorts of big 4th down calls can be challenging for some coaches it seems lol

Reminds of the call a few years ago in the playoffs when the 49ers had a 4th and short. They lined Trent Williams up in the backfield and had him as the lead blocker instead on the line of scrimmage. The LB just ran around him and made the tackle in the backfield.

The biggest moments, the best players need to be doing what they do best, not some gimmick play that puts them out of position.

Exactly. I scream at the TV when some stupid coach calls that play cause its always 10 on 11. Calling him a decoy, if that is what they are thinking, is stupid. No one falls for it.,
