When my dad was a young boy on the farm in Ireland they had a few barn cats to keep the mice out of the chicken feed. Once in a while the feral cats would make the barn cats pregnant and it was my dad’s job to put the kittens in a sack with a rock and throw it in the river. Farm living ain’t for puzzies.

something fishy to this theft story. i did see a statement about the money, said she had it for Easter dinner and gifts for the family/kids. not sure what to make of that, but wouldn't call it normal. is there video of the theft? mostly, it is very odd that this could happen to her, and that she on some level would allow it possible with the cash, passport, dhs badge in the bag.

In my experience, you let them keep breeding with the feral cats because otherwise they get inbred. We put out a couple big bowls of food twice a day in the barn. If the cats weren't there to eat it, or the bigger cats took more than their share, they would find more rodents to eat, starve, or become food for something else like a raptor. You don't understand the farm very well.

The cats around our barns, silos, and cribs had to fend for themselves.  Given the amount of feed corn we grew and stored there were always rats and mice around and so the cats made a good living for themselves.  Their population was more or less held in stasis by the hunting opportunities.  If there were too many cats for the prey available they would move off in search of other opportunities.  The only cats we cared to cull were those with a propensity for troubling the cows when they were being milked.  Those we dispatched, usually with a spade.
