Mike Tyson's Punchout!

Recommended Posts

I had this emulator for a while that has the game and sucked at it cause was using a PS 2 controller. Got all serious at it lately and bought a Nintendo usb controller for it and dang that help. But dang still hard and am stuck at the Turbin Tiger guy. I'm getting there though and beat Mike probably 10 times or more many years ago.

There is probably some lag in the emulator and you're probably using an LED TV with lag.

I've gone down this road.  I beat Tyson a dozen or so times as a kid, played on an emulator and couldn't get past soda popinski.

Finally bought an original NES, original Tyson Punch out (not Mr dream).

TV is next, you need a TV with very low input lag.  OLED is best, a good led is fine with game mode.  I have a high end Samsung with game mode and it worked.

Was finally able to beat Tyson again.

Also beating great tiger is easy. Google each fighters secrets.

I have Punch Out and a bunch of other emulated games on my laptop. I waste time on airplanes playing them with a Nintendo controller, I can't tell you the amount of people who have asked if they can play, or how can they get it.  I love playing those old games.

This is worthy of a spinoff, but I will hijack this thread instead. Rushmore of NES games.

The Legend of Zelda

Maniac Mansion

Mario 3

Tecmo Super Bowl

Tecmo Super Bowl was part of a full year+ of my drunken part of life. It was glorious. A year and a half of drunken sloth gambling on everything and simply living that particular time to it's fullest. I used to love choosing the winter setting. Some of the key players are starting to come back to me but not yet. Dang.

To me Super Macho Man was tougher than Tyson.  Once you got Tyson down you should consistently beat him.  Super Macho Man had that reverse spin punch that would catch me still occasionally.  When I originally was playing as a kid, Soda Popinski hung me up awhile too.
