Mike FF Today 732 Posted August 5 $23 million guaranteed is the key part. Maybe this will spur a James Cook deal?
polecatt 479 Posted August 5 They said he was too small to be a full time RB, but he held up really well last season with over 300 carries. He's a top 10 RB in the NFL, good deal
weepaws 3,219 Posted August 5 He worked hard to get that pay check.
GobbleDog 999 Posted August 7 Good for him getting paid, but fantasy wise.... adp Rb 11 is too rich for me. Finished Rb 10 ppg due to 350 touches and 16 Tds. Be surprised if he gets that many again - Rams moved up several spots to get another Rb and Corum is still there. He's also coming off two seasons of serious workloads so injury is a concern. Not to mention, Stafford is dealing with his own back issues. He's a goal line freak, I'll give him that and he got paid so the Rams will want some return on that investment. But fantasy wise I think he's being drafted at his ceiling. The floor probably isn't too low, but I expect he finishes Rb 15-20 range.
weepaws 3,219 Posted August 7 Reading about Stanford’s back problems is a concern, it doesn’t sound good.

It's certainly getting close. I don't see him playing well into his 40s like others. I think Stafford is a HOFer. He's in the ballpark as the other elite QBs of the past 15-20 years or so IMO. He's just gotten a raw deal because he played for the Lions

I keep thinking hes gonna retire but then he comes back. but His bad back is something I am using to downgrade all players in the Rams offense to some degree. without stafford the whole offense puts up less in terms of stats. The risk there is significant

He mentioned 15 mill to open up thr offseason and went the social media route. Bills said no but have made an offer. Wouldnt be surprised if they offered him a similar deal to Kyren's. And maybe he said no. If so he looks foolish. I would say Kyren if anything deserves that deal more than Cook. In any event, Kyren set the market. If Cook is expecting anything more than his deal, then he will be waiting some more.

You could argue Kyren deserved it as back-pay for his insane workload the past couple years, but Cook's future prospects look brighter. More talented and more gas in the tank. More talented and more gas in the tank. Not sure. Gas tank could be true. But on a team that is desperately trying to get over the hump....he played under 50% of snaps. To Kyren's 80+ To end the season once again vs Chiefs, game on the line, he is out on 3rd down with Ty Johnson out there. He is out again on 4th but they went 5 wide. Sure he has bigger big play ability. Not sure if that auto means a guy is more talented. They saw enough of his pass catching 2 years ago to phase him out. Hes a liability in pass pro, so perhaps 3rd downs is out anyway. TDs are nice but pretty random and about opportunity. He had 16 rush TDs last year which is nice. He had 2 rush TDs in each of his previous 2 seasons. Kyren is almost a full year younger.
weepaws 3,219 Posted Monday at 08:25 PM Few weeks ago, not sure the site, but Allen called Ty Johnson the best third down rb in the nfl. true motivation to get Cook to sign I’m sure. This is the best time for football.
listen2me 23 1,889 Posted yesterday at 01:25 PM James Cook gets extention. Hard to know without the details. But actually more per year than Williams.

weepaws 3,219 Posted 21 hours ago In both of my 14 team leagues, Cook now becomes a very late first rd pick imo. In your tiny leagues like a twelve team league I think Cook is now a second rd first turn draft pick. Cant talk about ten or smaller leagues, they don’t matter. I dont think so unless he was moved down for the uncertainty first. They like to use all 3 backs. They trust the ither 2 more in pass pro. Ty Johnson is a good 3rd down back. I wouldnt think they would force much more work on him. I think getting a deal makes picking him feel much safer however. Never know a guy going into the last year at that position may just come up with a phantom injury at times.

I would agree, and Ray talks about having less trust for players the season they get paid, oh those nagging injuries hurt more.
