Did he? I had forgotten that bit of Glen Beck fabricated garbage, it’s been a long time since I’ve heard it. Did this collaboration take place before or after his entire family was murdered? (Much like mine.)

How old are you ? The Nazis were done by 1944. So how did your entire family get wiped out?

When he gets proposed concessions - such as Ukraine giving up occupied and some unoccupied territory and Ukraine not joining NATO - that's Putin's hold position as he gives up nothing, at least nothing we can see so far. This is how Russians negotiate. Give them an inch, and they'll push for a mile.

We shall see.

My grandparents and my dad survived. They escaped from Germany to Romania and lived there as refugees until 1944. Then they escaped into the forest outside Bucharest, They lived hiding in the forest for over a year. When they came out my grandfather weighed 72 pounds. But my both my grandparents lost their entire families, over 20 relatives I think.

My dad was 6 years old when he came out of the forest. My grandparents wandered to Vienna but like Berlin it was occupied by the four powers and my grandparents were in the Communist zone. My grandparents snuck across to the American zone- they would have been shot by the Russians had they been caught- they were, quite literally, undocumented immigrants. They came to this country with no papers. This fact probably plays a role in my deep feelings about this subject.

Someone coming here from Honduras illegally to clean your house and send money back home isn’t the same. Or even close. But I guess you can tell yourself it is. Conflating the holocaust with that is really, really weak. Some might say it’s disgusting. You sure can find empathy when it suits you though.

I have no idea why anyone would find it disgusting. When my grandparents came here the Holocaust was over. They were escaping Communism and they came here for a better life. That is why most people come here. I’m sympathetic to such people and I’ve never quite understood why others wouldn’t be.

Russia tells Trump they're not ready to meet now.

WHOOPS!

Whoops what? Putin ultimately decides when it ends.

Zelensky better start offering up some land before there's nothing left. Zelensky has to make the deal, not Trump

I have a theory on this. I think the reason why is that everyone in this country (except NA's) has someone who came from some other country. Of course. Almost no one came here because things were great in the Old Country. It's always a variety of reasons but usually it's war, poverty (or as Trump would say a real sh!+hole country), disease, hunger. One of those things. I mean, why would HT2 or anyone like him drop everything they have in the world, all their family, all their possessions, their property, anything they have and everything they're ever gonna have in that place, to travel thousands of miles away? Obviously because they were desperate.

That was certainly the case for Trump himself. His grandfather fled war (he evaded the draft making himself a wanted criminal in Germany). His mother fled poverty (Isle of Lewis was a fishing community that had overfished its stock, it was the sort of sh!+hole place Trump talks about). His grandfather fled the US to Canada to run prostitutes out of a "hotel", returned to the US, left the US, was evicted from Germany despite begging to stay, had to come back to the US. Trump's mother, Mary McLeod, worked as a maid, a domestic servant (she followed her sister & lived with her), but she also left the US & returned to Scotland and planned to stay there if she hadn't hooked up with a wealthy Manhattanite. Apparently McLeod (his mother) finally became a US citizen, but only after popping out two kids. Of course this is exactly the sort of person being targeted & deported today. Trump's grandfather changed his name, like so many other people with "weird" sounding names. "Drumpf" sounds awfully, oh I dunno, foreign.

I think what's going on is that people lose touch with their roots. Who knows maybe HT2 has had 40 forbears who came to America? Maybe just 4? Who knows, but if we had a "live look in" for why they left it was probably awful desperation - war, famine, disease, etc. - same as everyone. Probably not all or even many or most didn't have their paperwork. Many people got passed along the way, by the Italians, Irish, Hispanics, blacks, who knows, which probably fueled resentment. But I think at the core of it it's often a sense of shame. That's what I think motivates Trump. Can't prove it but shame is a powerful motivating factor, for much bad behavior in the world or at least just negativity for lack of a better polite term.

Now what this has to do with Russia-Ukraine, I don't know, except we seem to have to constantly learn the lesson in this country that abundance and democracy abroad means abundance and peace at home. And again after maybe 3 generations people just forget.

(Folks, I'm not replying. I just thought Tim's heartfelt reply deserved a decent response. God Bless America. Have a good one.)
