Fixored.

You spend a lot of time insulting me, calling me names. I haven’t reciprocated and won’t. If you want to take issue with something I wrote then do so. That’s what I call being serious. You may have a different definition.

You’re talking over me, you’re not addressing my points. And the issues you’re bringing up are irrelevant to the topic. I like one aspect of Denmark society l; why should I need to justify or even comment on the other aspects?

Tim: we should have less poverty like Denmark!

Me: [lists a bunch of specific reasons we can't be like Denmark.]

Tim:  those don't help me eat my cake, so I'll dismiss them.

None of those reasons have anything to with why we can’t be like Denmark on this ONE issue.

Let me be more specific; let’s increase spending on the safety net by 20-50% in an attempt to eliminate poverty. We can find the money by raising taxes on the top 1% of earners and eliminating all tariffs (so as to grow the economy.) Eliminate minimum wage and invite open immigration. Spend massive amounts in the inner city (way more than we ever have) and work on eliminating institutional racism.

These measures would lead to a prosperous, capitalist society without socialism. Why not?

I would eliminate or seriously limit all sales taxes as well, and tax the wealthy more. Make things as cheap as possible for the consumer. Grow the economy from the bottom up.

Open immigration is the opposite of Denmark.  You keep proving the liberal epitaph. Not serious.

Are you trolling now? When did I say or even imply that we need to copy everything Denmark does?

He is actually crushing your argument.

Increasing the social safety net only works of you can control the size of the net.

In the US that net would swell so fast it would be unsustainable. The government would always need more money.

In Denmark they know exactly how big their net will be.

Timmy thinks the US is like Denmark.  It's like comparing managing NYC with managing a 4 person family home.    😆

Sounds like you would enjoy living in Colombia and give all your money to the government.

Not surprised you think this, but you’re wrong, both about your prediction and about what I want.

Your agreement with him only strengthens my conviction that the opposite is true. (Though, honestly, I don’t really expect you to understand the details anyhow.)
