Nashville…any geeks?

Recommended Posts

Go to the Rhyman (original Grand Ole Opry). Right behind it is Legends Bar. Johnny Cash and many others drank there and the memorabilia on the walls are incredible. And they live music all night.

I got to see The Charley Daniel’s band at the Ryman one night. Incredible. Also don’t go to the BBQ tourist places. Ask the concierge a good local place. Go Honky Tonk and learn the country three step dance.

Tootsie's is an iconic bar there. 5 floors, bands on each floor. The 1st floor is tiny and they still have a stage packed in there.

I’m so far from a country music guy. It’s my second least favorite genre

Nashville as a scene, nothing for me. Been their a few times. Meh.

I’m knocking out Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Nevada on my play baseball in all 50 states goal this next month. That’s the only reason I’m going

Enjoy the "new" stadium.  Old Greer Stadium near the fairgrounds was a real dump and you needed an armed escort down there.

Oh, Tennessee, you gotta go at some point. Tennessee is beautiful, I guess I was only talking Nashville. And I do have friends who love that city.

Heading to Nashville for the week be there Sunday thru Friday. Playing baseball at the Sounds stadium.

It's not "far", nor "close", but if time permits and you're interested, Jack Daniel's Distillery gives tours.  Went there with my family when my brother and I were kids.  Lynchburg is about an hour and a half away from Nashville.

I know you say you're not a country western fan but the best bar on Broadway there is Robert's Western World. It's the best non touristy, tourist place there in that it isn't flashy, it isn't fancy, and it doesn't have a country artists name on it.

It's very much an old school honky tonk type place but has food that is limited but reasonably priced. And the fried bologna sandwich, with chips, a moonpie, and PBR for 6 bucks is really good as a deal. Simplistic beer menu (it's just 4 picnic beers) but the prices are like 3-4 dollars a can.

Sounders stadium is cool- the AirBNB we stayed at was right next to it.

Nashville is a fun place where you can spend as little or as much money as you want depending on how you decide to play it. Some bars are more designed to just avoid the bar and listen to music.

Been there - multiple times. Dry town. Joke is how far down to the steps the nearest place to buy. JD.
Jokes aside it is a good tour.

Yeah, was over 30 years ago that I went.  When you're 12 years old, you really don't notice the aspects of dry towns.  Lol

And yeah, I thought the tour was pretty cool.
