Seth Rich was murdered in a mugging (attempted robbery) maybe a dozen blocks from the place Coristine was carjacked. Rich’s murder goes unsolved. This was juvenile court, two 15 year olds. I can’t say I’m too surprised but DC isn’t the only town or city faced with this stuff. Judge Kendra Briggs, the black, Biden appointed Judge who just let the black attackers who viciously beat Edward Coristine @as400495 in DC off easy is the Director and Treasurer of a Pro-Black Nonprofit called “District Motherhued”, a BLACKS ONLY 501c3 for Millenial Black mothers in DC. 

This suggests Judge Briggs has a racial conflict of interest in that she appears to prioritize black causes over law and order. Her role in a blacks only organization in DC, where she is also a judge shows she has a racial bias against white people, which is why she didn’t uphold justice in the brutal assault of “Big Balls.”

One of the events she has organized with her Non-Profit is called “Boobs in the Park”.

13 years as an assistant US Attorney. She received a majority of GOP votes on her confirmation committee & was confirmed by voice vote, which means overwhelmingly. Seems qualified.

The Trump appointee at EDVA as US Attorney, Lindsey Halligan, is a former model & beauty pageant participant with 8 years as a real estate insurance law attorney followed by 3 years as a personal attorney for a country club manager. And she’s never faced a confirmation hearing. That sounds more like DEI.

Rather than a secure way to track those suspected of crime, The Post found, it is a flawed system that relies on children as young as 12 to charge and maintain their own devices and that has been slow to act when they go dark. 

Five young people died while wearing ankle monitors under court supervision during a six-week span in the fall of 2023, according to previous comments from court and local officials.

Also in 2023, a teen wearing a GPS monitor with a dead battery was charged in connection with the shooting death of another teen. Last summer, a 16-year-old boy wearing an ankle monitor was arrested after he allegedly shot and wounded three women. And last fall, a 12-year-old boy went missing after a judge admonished him for failing to charge his monitor but released him anyway. 

Some teens told The Post they have to sit with their monitors attached to an electrical outlet for hours to receive a charge that, until recently, would last only about 48 hours.

One teen said the device is uncomfortable to charge while he is sleeping so he often lets the battery die, usually with no repercussions.

“What happens? Nothing,” he said. “There is no point.”

Others said they don’t want to charge a device that will track them and possibly link them to crimes. One 17-year-old boy told The Post that wearing a charged monitor was not a deterrent: He said he robbed several people while being tracked.

“It’s ridiculous to say to these kids, ‘Charge these devices,’” said a former juvenile probation officer who, like several others, spoke to The Post on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential proceedings. “Why would I charge a device that’s going to connect me to a crime? It’s crazy to me.”

Yet by the time Mylaki and Maurice were each ordered to wear an ankle monitor, the technology had been widely embraced by the D.C. juvenile court system.

About 125 to 150 youths a day wear GPS monitors under D.C. juvenile court supervision while facing charges arising from robberies, auto thefts and possession of weapons, among other offenses. By contrast, in the mid-2000s, an average of 40 juveniles a day — mostly nonviolent offenders — wore ankle monitors under court supervision, annual reports show.

Like we give a about her credentials rather than results. That you think this is a worthwhile, effective, defensible judge speaks loudly your judgements.

I tell you what, I rope a half empty bottle of booze to a fishing line, toss it in a dumpster, pull out a bum, give him the answer sheet to the bar exam,  appoint him as judge, give him more booze, and put him in the courtroom next to Kendra Briggs. The two teenagers that assaulted a child of yours have their court date today. Whose courtroom do you hope they land in?

I was just talking about the DEI thing. As to Justice, like HT pointed about above there are 150 kids walking around with ankle monitors in DC even though they’ve committed violent crimes. Seth Rich was murdered in a robbery pretty near the same neighborhood, & he is one of many, many unsolved murders in DC, but I don’t recall demands to solve the DC justice system or demands to send in troops in response. This has been going on a long time in almost every state. Drugs, guns, lack of jail space, culture, etc etc etc. I’m certainly familiar with it in my city.

What happened with Seth Rich - like Coristine, a staffer, but robbed & murdered in nearly the same area - was far right conspiracy mongers created a myth that the Clintons had murdered him, as a way to cover for the Russian hack & dissemination of DNC data.

Back then the crime was far worse. Since then crime in the US’s major cities has been precipitously declining to levels not seen since the 60s & 70s. There are different theories for that - better policing methods, better technology, Biden funding of police forces, the death of retail, the shift towards digital payments, gentrification, the strong economy - vary, take your pick.

The GOP reaction to the crime against Coristine is just as cynical as its reaction to the crime against Rich.

I'm not sure what you're talking about re: the bolded, could you elaborate with an example or two?

I'm also curious as to when the judiciary will STOP being a problem in MAGA's eyes. What will they have to do? The judge in the case of the OP was following normal sentencing guidelines, much like any judge would be expected to do. Should those judges ignore guidelines based on who the victim's friends are? Maybe we should just scrap the whole system and lot Don decide all of the court cases he already has an opinion on?
