If you don’t think it’s war with Venezuela unless we officially declare war, then you don’t think we’ve been in a war since WWII.  This is quite clear.

If you do think we can be in a war with Venezuela without officially declaring war, then it wasn’t backtracking (which you claimed it was) for me to say that if we force a regime change, then that would mean your “LOL” at my post saying “probably going to war with Venezuela is a nothingburger?” was unjustified.

I think you’re talking legal war. There were 3 AUMF’s & the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. Tricky one is the Korean War. We also had de facto wars with Grenada & Panama. And there was the insurgents landing in Cuba.

Because of what happened with Korea & Vietnam the US created the War Powers Act, which is another permutation for events like Clinton attacking AQ in Afghanistan & Sudan.
