On Trump’s Insults, Somalia’s Prime Minister Says ‘It’s Better Not to Respond’

Somalia’s leader said Wednesday that it was “better not to respond” a day after President Trump called Somali immigrants “garbage” during a xenophobic tirade.

“We are not the only country that Trump insults,” Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre told an audience at an innovation summit in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, in response to a question about Mr. Trump’s comments, according to video published by Shabelle TV, a local media network. “Sometimes it’s better not to respond,” he said.

Somalia, a nation of 19 million people in the Horn of Africa, has long regarded the United States as a key ally in the fight against the Al Shabab terrorist group. Though the Trump administration has slashed foreign aid budgets in recent months, the United States gave around $128 million to Somalia in the 2025 fiscal year.

But on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said the country “stinks” and that he did not want Somali immigrants in the United States. “We’re going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country,” Mr. Trump said at a cabinet meeting at the White House.

In Somalia on Wednesday, some people were angry that their government had not criticized Mr. Trump’s comments.

“Somali leaders and politicians have to defend the nation and the national interests,” said Abdullahi Omar, 35, a trader in Mogadishu, the Somali capital. “Why have you kept your mouth shut about Trump’s hate speech toward our people?”

Others were frustrated by what they saw as a pattern of disrespect toward Africa from Mr. Trump, who has a history of insulting Black people, particularly those from African countries.

“We are not garbage,” said Ali Yahye, 24, a graphic designer in Mogadishu. “Trump’s remarks were baseless and the Somali community in the U.S. has made a lot of contributions to the country.” [...]

Forgot to post this story the other day.  Just more fun with numbers from DTJ.

Trump touts Black Friday merch ‘deals’ - which cost more than original prices

President Donald Trump offered his supporters exclusive Black Friday "deals" on MAGA merchandise - but they appeared to be more expensive than the regular prices listed on his website.

In emails, that went out to his mailing list from November 24, the president touted special deals on items including a Christmas tree ornament of a red MAGA hat; a 2026 MAGA calendar, and wrapping paper decorated with a fist-pumping Trump in a Santa hat.

The emails, first reported by Meidas Touch Network, noted that the president feels “extra thankful” for his supporters and encourages them to “snag” the deals now.

The Black Friday offer email touted the MAGA hat ornament for $37. Yet, on the official Trump Merchandise Store website, the same decoration costs $30. Similarly, a promo for the Trump 2026 calendar boasts of a “new low price” of $32. The same calendar sells for $25 on the official merch site.

Trump's Black Friday merchandise was more expensive than what it is normally sold for. 🤣

That is like something out of The Onion or The Borowitz Report.

I didn’t know about this. Because it doesn’t matter unless you’re a fully infected TDS loser or someone that would buy that stuff. Got anything else?

The corruption is out of control...

In October, Popular Information reported that the Pentagon awarded a contract to Unusual Machines, an obscure drone company that President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., joined as an advisor in November 2024, despite having no notable experience with drones or military contracting.

The contract was for the manufacturing of 3,500 drone motors, and the Army also “indicated it planned to order an additional 20,000 components” from Unusual Machines next year. Trump Jr. was given 200,000 shares of the company’s stock in 2024, which are now worth millions.

They don’t investigate any of it because his name isn’t Biden.

This is basically the same thing as Hunter Biden being appointed to the board of Burisma, except that didn’t cost US taxpayers anything.

Under Trump Administration, Measles Outbreaks Spread as U.S. Risks Losing Elimination Status

The United States, long a leader in science, now faces a stark test: measles is spreading again, and if transmission isn’t broken for 12 straight months, surveillance evidence compiled by U.S. health agencies could trigger a loss of measles elimination status.

So one of Trump’s actions in the last 30 days affected me personally:

As I have mentioned in the past, in 2024 my wife and I helped a family of 5 from Afghanistan settle in Orange County through the WelcomeCorp volunteer  organization, set up by Biden, since cancelled. This was a family of refugees: the father worked in Kabul at the American hospital and because of this was marked for death by the Taliban. They spent  year in Pakistan going through extreme vetting and were finally welcomed into the U.S. last October, one one of the last allowed in before the door was shut. We helped them find an apartment, got the kids enrolled in school, helped them find jobs, etc. Most rewarding experience of my life.

A year after they arrived we began to work with an attorney on applying for their green cards (you can’t apply until you’ve been here a year.) It’s a laborious process and we were in the middle of it when last month Trump abruptly suspended all green card applications for anyone of Afghan descent. He is blaming all of them for the national guard shooting. It’s a bigoted, hateful response from our President, and it puts this family and thousands of others in limbo. It is also a violation of a sacred vow we made to these people who worked with our soldiers for two decades.

If Trump gets his way this family and many others will lose their refugee status and sent back to Afghanistan where they will face imprisonment and possibly death. The family I am friends with are terrified and don’t understand what’s happening. The attorney we hired is helpless. I have no idea what to tell these people.

What entails “extreme” vetting?

I don’t know the details. I know they were in Pakistan for nearly two years while the State Department reviewed their case.

You have to stop embellishing your stories. They feel fake when you do.

A year and 11 months seems pretty extreme to me. Call it what you want. If you think what Trump is doing is defensible then there’s really nothing further to add.

You should start a go fund me on behalf of those people. For their plane tickets home.   I’ll contribute. P.S.- the savage that shot our two guardsmen, killing one, worked for the US in Afghanistan too.  No points.

Nice of you to offer but the family I know don’t need plane tickets home. They’re already home.

Isn't it funny that whenever Tim's stories get questioned, they fall apart?   Hmmm.....But yeah, he never lies.

Personally, I don't believe one tiny bit of this story.  It was either entirely made up, or happened to someone else and Tim is taking it as his own.

The story is true, all of it, including the extreme vetting, though that’s my interpretation based on the length of time and the family’s description of the long interviews and paperwork required.

I really don’t care whether you believe me or not. I don’t think you have credibility to question my integrity or anyone else’s. The bigger issue, FOR YOU, is whether or not you support what Trump is doing with regard to the thousands of Afghan refugees in this country. I added “for you” because it’s not a big issue for me or anyone else reading this; again, you lack the credibility or integrity for that to be the case. But it’s a big issue for you, or should be, if you want to decide what kind of person you ultimately want to be.
