Less likely scenario- these afghan refugess will provide a benefit to tim somehow, so he is doing what he can to keep them in the area. 

Impossible scenario- tim actually helped them just because he wanted to help and it was hard to get the benefits.

I helped them for three reasons: first because I could. After my parents and brother died I became financially well off and had the means to help causes I believe in. I wanted to be personally involved, not just send money somewhere. 

Second, because even before the election last year I became sick to death of the growing anti-immigrant sentiment in this country. Frankly people with views like yours sicken me and I wanted to fight back any way I could. 

Third because when my father came to this country at age 13, a Holocaust survivor and a refugee from the horrors of Soviet Communism, he and my grandparents were helped out by a family in Long Beach whom they did not know and who owed them nothing (part of a group at the time of Jewish American volunteers.) I wanted to return the favor. 

I’m sure you’ll choose to believe none of this @jonnyutah and I really don’t care. It’s all true. F you if you imply otherwise.

Of course. Just go look at the conversation you participated in the no tims thread. 

Tim lied and said remittances are good for the US and provided a link. That link didnt say that at all. i called him out on it and he said he must have posted the wrong link. Then he came back with no link but an alleged response from AI. I asked him for his specific terms he prompted AI for and which AI tool he used and he eventually conceded that he had added "good" at the end in an obvious attempt to manipulate the AI. You even pointed out the response specifically said it was good for mexico and that they were the primary beneficiary. 

Eta: just looked up the thread, he actually manipulated the AI by putting "good for us"

For decades the face of the poor, the look of those asking for handouts has been one demographic. Let’s finally see the truth.

I wonder about the senior citizens that are in their 80’s and up that actually worked hard all their lives but don’t have enough social security to pay increasing rent at their senior citizen’s apartment complex or assisted living that need the extra food stamps to afford food. Let’s see who is truly affected. Let’s see how those with young children and their older parents to care for hold up that depend on their parents getting social services so they aren’t stretched any further than they already are….

Let’s see how bold and brazen all those conservative Mormons with multiple wives with 10 and 20 children who completely depend on government assistance in order to exist: Let’s pull the sheets off of all!

There are plenty of people in blue states on SNAP and TANF. However we take care of our own. Most blue states have emergency plans in place so that nobody loses benefits. Most of the states you listed do not. It will be interesting to see how they react.

Stop having kids if you can't afford them. That sounds like a personal problem.

And we don't need to keep old people on life support for 100 years. They lived full lives hopefully and when their time has come, take them off life support. Half the people in those places hate dying alone and being kept alive for an additional 10 years because someone says they "care" when they don't even go and visit those people they say they care about.

1. Absolutely true that we need  immigrants to work in agriculture, food services, and other jobs that pay below minimum wage. If you don’t want them to be undocumented, then allow them in legally and give the ones already here legal status. 

2. Not sure where you got “the white guys” from. Seems pretty racist. There is plenty of fraud in SNAP, I detailed it above. Very little comes from undocumented immigrants because the documents are too difficult to forge for the return offered. As far as someone like me helping, how am I supposed to secure fake I-94s and medical records? You have a vivid imagination.

A lot of Snap recipients were born and bred to be in the system. It's a cultural thing for sure.

You can reference a lot of factors. I'm not a big white privilege guy by any means, but you can deny the fact that even into the 1960's educational opportunities were not equal for minorities in places all over the country.   So children in minority families were brought up by and learned from people who didn't have much opportunity to get ahead.   We can't keep using that as an excuse, as opportunities are out there for everyone now and we need to encourage hope and self-sufficiency and work ethic and how to be a contributing member of society.   But a lot of people who grew up only knowing what they know, don't really have much help or support in working their way out of such environment.
