Leagues mad at me...

Recommended Posts

Traded Cutler $22 and Michael Floyd $6 for Peyton Manning $62 and everyone isad it's a keeper league the guy who got Floyd is happy cause he's so cheap and Cutler for $22 isn't bad considering every QB in the top 10 is 50+ in a 2qb league. Still the league is furious cause they say I ripped him off. 4 points for a passing TD btw. I'm the commish should I trade him back so people in the league stay happy?

My league is probably mad at me because I just packaged Tre Mason and Terrance Williams for Julio Jones. In both our cases I say Fock em!

Most owners are lazy and won't work to put together a trade that might help both teams. I almost always have an offer out there and while 90 percent of them get rejected persistence can pay off.

Ah....I thought that there must be multiple leagues that were mad at you. Glad it's only one.

Welcome to any league that allows trades to be vetoed. Your trade is legitimate but you don't have any impartial people judging that.

If I'm competing with you to win the league, then anything that strengthens your team will p*ss me off regardless of how fair or not it is. So what's my strategy to defuse this situation? What are my options?

And then this happens.

Scr*w em! Most people are just mad bc they either couldn't think of a good trade, didn't have the players to do one, or were just too lazy to think one up themselves.

In my first year in FF, my commish did a trade like this and I wanted it overturned and we voted and it was overturned.

That was a long time ago. I don't rightly recall if it was a fair trade or a rip off but knowing him, it was probably a shrewd but fair trade and I'd put the friend who introduced me to this hobby of ours into an uncomfortable situation. I'm embarrassed to have formed the lynch mob. Now that I've been on the receiving end of a focked up vote to overturn a trade as well over my many years, I think I've wised my ass up.

I'm in a deep keeper league that has been around for 20+ years and no trade has ever been turned down. It's almost impossible to reject one because of the keeper factor. In your case, you are probably in the running this year and your trade partner is looking to the future. Floyd at a cheap price could be a top 10 WR for the next 10 years. Or not. But he could. Cutler is 31 and could have another 8 solid to good years. Manning has another couple of years tops. Totally viable keeper trade. Tell the other owners to eat a bag of d1cks.

It sucks in some leagues people will whine until a trade is vetoed. In one of my leagues, if you are going to trade away a decent player, you have to go to the message board and post said player is on the block. If you don't give the entire damn league a chance, it's a guaranteed veto. Some very legit trades have been overturned because the team owners are a bunch of jerkoffs who think if you make a trade, somehow they were screwed in the process. Posting ahead on the message board was something the league agreed would stop the veto ordeal. I'd leave the league, but the fights on the message board make it worth staying. Everyone hates each other and it makes for great reading during the season.

Some people have not the ability to process present value vs. future value.

Manning is the better player by far, but at his age (37) and having some neck/back issues, He likely has no more than 2 or 3 years left. (and likely less if he wins a super bowl sooner)

Cutler is much younger (31) and provides more long term potential than Manning does.

Any Keeper league team with Manning on the roster where the team does not have a good shot at winning this year or next should be considering a trade of this sort to plan for the future.

While I think he may have been able to get a bit more if he shopped manning around, I dont think this deal warrants a veto. People have a tendency to dislike trades that dont benefit their own team so I'm not surprised that some are choked. but I guarantee you, if they knew this deal was brewing, they'd try to offer up a similar deal for their own team to benefit from.

so bottom line: dont worry about this too much.

This trade is pure mularky. Gather around your wife and kids and punch yourself in the face in front of them.

the trade is fine since its not collusion. That said, they peyton owner is an idiot and still living inthe preseason where Cutler was some godly player. Iv never played in a keeper or dynasty league but I always see this trend of having crappy players that might be good in 5 years. Id just mortgage my future every year for a WIN NOW team and be stacked every year. Done see the point of planning for the future.
