Need Help Keeper

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Thoughts on Keeping either:

Melvin Gordon and give up a 6th round pick

or

Mike Thomas and give up a 10th round pick

What do you say?

Thanks

Either a non ppr or a ppr I'm going with M Gordon.

I think either way I would keep Thomas.

You are not giving up a pick in the top 3 rounds for either player, so my recommendation is that you pick the better player. What round draft pick you give up is largely irrelevant if it's not in the top 3-4 rounds.

so look at both players, and ask yourself this question:

which player do I think will help my team more?

THAT is the player you should be keeping.

Thomas for the 10th is the better value, but there aren't many true workhorse rbs out there.

I'd role the dice on Melvin. I like having a heavy touch RB on my team.

There are not a lot of them out there. I think Melvin goes Late in round 1 or reasonably early in round 2 if he goes back into the pool.

I think M Gordon will be the third best Rb in this years ff draft, and that's even in a ppr league.

I currently have him ranked ahead of the Zeke.

He's easily the pick at this spot.

I dont have him ranked ahead of Zeke. Even with the losses on the Dallas O line and the improvements to LA's line, I just dont think he will improve that much this year.

we have two rookies that are currently projected to start in LA and one Center who was drafted last year, and basically redshirted for a year.

My guess is one of the rookies may need to redshirt, and I honestly think it will take a full year for the young guys on this line to get to a reasonable spot on the learning curve and gel as a unit.

Gordon's value will really be felt next year more so than this year. That's not to say he wont have a good year. I think he will. I just dont think we will see the level of improvement you are talking about for at least another year.

it is likely the case where he underperfoms a bit in the first few games and improves as the year wears on. I think he will have a strong second half of the season. That's my bet.

Either way, as far as the subject of this thread goes, I'd rather have Gordon on my team than Mike Thomas. It would appear we agree on that.

I just dont think Gordon will be top 3-5 until next season. (as in the season after this one)

I disagree.

Zeke avg 21 points per game in ppr last season and Gordon was right behind him at 19 points per game.

I see Gordon improving on his 997 rushing yards and I don't see Zeke gaining 1631 rushing yards I think he will have less.

So I can see a very easy case where Gordon will indeed pass Zeke in ff this season.

The greedy answer is I would really want both.

And to get both I keep Gordon and then draft Thomas.

I would take Gordon

He should be an upper level RB1 in the 6th round

That's a deal you can't pass up

Scoring, PPR or standard...............any other scoring distinctions?

............starting lineup requirements, 2 RB-2WR, 1 RB- 3WR, etc., any flexes, if so how many?

All that stuff is pertinent as well as whether there are other keepers, and whom if so.

Its close enough on those 2 options that the more info the better.
