Electric Mayhem 35 Posted November 9, 2006 Funny you guys say you have a lot of uncompleted games, cause I do too and at times felt guilty about it. I never finished Baldur's Gate, Or Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas. I got through a lot of Tiger Woods Golf(as far as things to complete) then kind of gave up on it. Did the SIMS, got bored Now I am into this Elder Scrolls, not sure I will finish it though. And there really isn't a definitive finish with that game anyway. Did get REAL close with GTA: Vice City though I fished Baldur's Gate - you should try to. The mosters are constanly changing and gettng progressively harder (but not stupid hard) plus the weapons offered/found get better as well. I actually considerd playing through it again with a different character/skill set. That was a really fun game.

bigmarc27 24 Posted November 9, 2006 i bought a 360 last night, and GOW. i am a big dork i had planned on getting one eventually most likely, as i miss NCAA. but the GOW reviews were off the charts, and everyone who has seen or played it raves. i didn't get much playing in last night, but i expect to be pretty bloody by the end of the night tonight. gonna get the live pass, if anyone is playing multi we should try and get a game going, more fun when you know who your team is. I've got XBLive. My name on there is: guerilla gunner I only pretty much play Ghost Recon, NCAA Football, and I guess now GoW (actually those are all the games I've got except for Dead Rising). Send me a friend invite if you want, hellothere. And Sergeant Bri is NOT a gay GamerTag. It's only marginally gay. As far as not completing games and feeling guilty about it, I just bought the thing to have fun. I already have a job. Actually, I don't at the moment, but the principle still applies. Play partway through games, get my ass handed to me at multiplayer, I don't care. I just want to have some fun. Also, just got back from EBFatGothChick with GoW and COD3. They're still sealed. I'm almost afraid to open them. It's like a religious moment.
ProfessorZ 0 Posted November 10, 2006 I finished 12 seasons in Madden 2003 (7 in 2006). I finished 11 seasons in NCAA 2004 (on my 3rd in 2007). I finished GTA III (100%), GTA: Vice City, and came close to San Andreas before my PS2 blew up. I also finished the first Guild Wars, Neverwinter Nights, and took a Sim to the highest level of the science track (Mad Scientist). :videogamenerd: ETA: I also solved Bard's Tale, Zork I, II, and III, Ultima II, III, IV, and V, as well as King's Quest I, II, III and Space Quest!!@#!@
itsbigmoni 1 Posted November 10, 2006 I usualy don't play a game all the way trhough. My brother plays a lot of shooter games so he just rents em because after he beats them he doesn't play them again. I usualy don't even start playing because i know i wont finish so i'm like whats the point. The games i ahve played trhough are Saints Row, Godfather, and Vice City. I perfer sports game and in those i'll usualy play about 6-7 seasons. In NCAA sometimes i'll just skip seasons just to see how i can progress and that way i've reached 15 seasons. Electric Mayhem 35 Posted November 10, 2006 ETA: I also solved Bard's Tale, Zork I, II, and III, Ultima II, III, IV, and V, as well as King's Quest I, II, III and Space Quest!!@#!@ Wow. You're as old as dirt me! Zork was fun, but too focking frusterating to get all the commands worded correctly. I rember something about putting a screwdriver in a gear, or fixing a gear that took me like 2 hours to word correctly. And all that damn digging! Ultimas were a blast. I remember editing the game files to give myself 99 everything once I got bored with it. KingQuests/SpaceQuests were fun too. I remember when the Leisure Suit Larry series came out as well. Good times.
brinett9 0 Posted November 10, 2006 Played through the first mission of GoW last night. How is it? Well, that can best be described in three simple words: Get This Game! The environments are beautiful, the combat is fast and bloody, the weapons and enemies are fearsome and varied. The cover system works very well. It takes a little getting used to, mostly because it does things that no previous cover system did, such as provide a means of quickly moving from one piece of cover to another. It's a very Goth environment. I haven't seen any fat EBGames Goth chicks in it yet. They must be on a later level. Zork was fun, but too focking frusterating to get all the commands worded correctly. I rember something about putting a screwdriver in a gear, or fixing a gear that took me like 2 hours to word correctly. And all that damn digging! Never played Zork, but I played a Hitchhiker's Guide text-based game a little bit. Also, Space Taxi for the Commodore 64 rocked!

GobbleDog 996 Posted November 10, 2006 I bought Battlefield 2142 the other day... It's another Battlefield installment, but with futuristic weapons. I wasn't impressed. Entirely too hectic for me. After a few games I pulled out the CD and put Battlefield Vietnam back in.

brinett9 0 Posted November 10, 2006 Step 1) Purchase 360Step 2) Purchase GoW Step 3) hook 360 up into A/V system Steps 4 - ?) ???? 1) For online, you'll need to get ethernet to your 360 via an RJ-45 cable and plug. I don't know if you could do this directly from your cable modem or not. Mine is hooked up via a wireless router provided by my DSL provider and a $60 "gaming adapter" that serves as a wireless endpoint at the 360 end. Ethernet goes RJ-45 from the gaming adapter to the 360. 2) Get the 360 Premium package that includes the hard drive. The hard drive is a must-have. It comes with a cable that does component and composite video (RCA plugs). The A/V cable has a jack for optical audio if you want to do that, which I did. An S-video cable is available seperately for (I think) $30. 3) Get a "play 'n charge" kit for each wireless controller unless you enjoy buying batteries, which I do not. I solved all those old games (Leisure Suit Larry too) when I was like 10 years old. I even wrote a couple reviews for a game magazine when I was 13. brinett9 0 Posted November 11, 2006 Played some COD3 (X360) tonight. Looks very good. It seems to be very much like COD2, but with better graphics. That's not a bad thing. When characters talk, their lips move pretty good and it seems pretty real. So far, the environments have the same kind of cramped feel as COD2. This is one area the franchise could improve upon. brinett9 0 Posted November 11, 2006 Played GoW online a little bit and got rather owned, which is not a surprise the first few times out. If you're playing as a Locust, it seems you have to keep the COGs at a distance. Once they're anywhere close they'll just rev up that chainsaw and the odds are very heavily stacked against you. ETA - Played some CoD3 (X360) multiplayer in War mode today. Totally awesome fun! The more players the better. It supports 12 on 12. Vehicle use also adds a cool extra dimension to it. Big fun. Big big fun. I always "auto-select" which side I'm going to play on, and it seems to always make me a Nazi. Should I read anything into this?
bigmarc27 24 Posted November 13, 2006 Played a little co-op story with Hellothere in GoW. I think we knocked out nearly half the game playing the other day; good times. Those bat thingies are a ######. I spent a decent amount of time playing the multiplayer off and on over the weekend; I got absolutely smoked. In probably 3-4 hours of playing it the past few days, I'd say there were only 1 or 2 instances where I actually was pretty happy with what I did. I don't know how all these people are so much better than me already considering the game has only been out a week, but I can't keep up with most of the people. There are some cool moments though: chainsawing a guy, getting the hammer of dawn to work properly, sticking a guy with a grenade, actually working w/ a teammate to flank another guy and take him down, etc... I still have no idea how to use the crossbow and my accuracy w/ the sniper rifle is pathetic. I give the multiplayer a B- for right now. I don't have as much fun with it as I do Ghost Recon or Halo 2. Hopefully that'll change, but for now I don't think it's varied enough to keep my interest like those two did. The single player though is incredible. I've enjoyed it a good bit; lots of fun. I'll probably play through it a couple of times. -- My 1 week in review... Electric Mayhem 35 Posted November 13, 2006 I'm only 33. Yes, 33 count as 'dirt' (I'm 34). I wussed out on GoW. Rather than do what I always do and just splurge, I decided to finish the two Cube games I have before I get GoW. If I haven't finished them before the new Zelda comes out I'll wait until after I do that one (which is pretty huge from what I've been reading). I can't justify blowing $500 on one title right now (stupid condo sale )
hellothere 1 Posted November 13, 2006 GOW is pretty fun, but what i will say, is if your team isn't all on teamspeak and at least cooperating a little, then you will get murdered by the other team. you are very dependant on you teammates, which is good and bad, if you get just one guy out of 4 who runs off by himself and hides in a corner trying to snipe a random small area, you will likely loose. you need to stick with you team or likely toast. i downloaded the zombie demo, and i think im going to have to pick it up. i laughed, i cried, i threw potted plants at zombies. much fun was had. Electric Mayhem 35 Posted November 13, 2006 Any of you considered Gamefly.com? 21.95 a month for a Netflix-like agreement, two games at a time. Plus of you like a title you can just keep it at a discounted price. If I did get the 360: I could have GoW & the new Zelda, and spend $22 a month vs. the $110+ I'd be spending on the games if I bought them. Of course, I'll probably want to own those titles longer than the breakeven point of 5 months. I guess I could then buy them at a discounbt to free up the rental space - but that defests the purpose of renting rather than owning... Unless I would use the Gamefly account to demo possible good titles or things with low replay value. Fock, now I've pissed myself off. I'm not doing it. Thank you for participating in my little discussion with myself.
Manifest Destiny 0 Posted November 14, 2006 My 1 week in review... Overall: A- Single Player: A Multiplayer: B- I agree. The single player and online co-op are a blast. The lack of variety hurts the multiplayer. Can someone please explain the difference between Warzone and Execution?
brinett9 0 Posted November 14, 2006 The lack of variety hurts the multiplayer. Can someone please explain the difference between Warzone and Execution? I think in Warzone you just die. In Execution, when you're down you will revive after some time, or when a teammate revives you. You only truly die when an opponent finishes you off with a close range finishing move. It does seem a bit repetetive. The environments look different, but somehow the fighting ends up being the same. Plus I haven't seen a game with a lot of players in it. What's the max, 6 on 6? I just finished driving the junker from the gas station back to Delta 2. I love the monsters in this game. Except the bat things (Kryll). They are a pain in the ass. The Kryll portion was the most frustrating, so far. I also have a hard time accuratly throwing those grenades. They don't exactly travel the path that is shown on the screen... Have you noticed what the name of the achievement is for beating the berzerker on hardcore difficulty? Awesome.
brinett9 0 Posted November 14, 2006 I see. The max online is 4 vs. 4. That's not very good. With that few players, it's always going to be the good players dominating the new people. Not much fun being a new person. Playing 12 on 12 in CoD3 is much more wild and whacky. I'm only playing on Casual difficulty. That's tough enough for me for now. Also, the players that stick together have a much higher probability of winning. If you have one or two guys that wander off to be heros...your team's done. As someone that is much better at run and gun stlye FPS, I'm not great at GoW. I have only made serious progress on the higher level by playing online co-op. brinett9 0 Posted November 21, 2006 Rainbow Six Vegas (X360) released today. Got a 9.3 from IGN. Looks like it supports 8 on 8 multiplayer. I liked the cover system in the demo. You hold left trigger to stay in cover. This makes getting out of cover much smoother when you need to do it quickly. Getting it tonight at EBFatGothChick. ILoveScratchTickets 0 Posted November 21, 2006 "Honestly, I was using the sledgehammer in the yard and left it in the living room by mistake." You've seen the "what to buy when you get an XBox 360" tips in the other thread, right? Gonna hook up to XBox Live? I really didn't break it, I was in the middle of a Madden game cruising on to a 16-0 season and the game freezes up and the little green circle light around the button starts flashing red. The screen then says I need to call Xbox customer service to get it fixed, I don't even think its worth fixing. I am currently hooked up to xbox live, can I use the same account for Xbox 360? And can I get a link for the other thread?
brinett9 0 Posted November 21, 2006 I am currently hooked up to xbox live, can I use the same account for Xbox 360? And can I get a link for the other thread? Yes, your Live account will migrate. There might be a migration step you need to do. I'd scope out xbox.com. This is all you need to know: Get the $400 package that comes with the hard drive. It also comes with one wireless controller, so buy a second one. ($50) Buy two 'Play n' Charge' kits. ($20 each) Each has a rechargable battery for the wireless controller and a cable to connect it to the 360 to charge the battery. Out of the box, the wireless controllers run on AA batteries. You can get by with AAs, but will save money with rechargeables. Alternatively, you could just buy one Play N' Charge kit and one battery (without cable), but the battery alone costs $12, so you'd only be saving $8. The $400 kit comes with a A/V cable that does composite video or component video. If you want to do S-video, you'll need to spend an extra $30 on the special A/V cable for that. Both of these A/V cables support stereo audio via RCA plugs or optical audio for 5.1. The optical cable is not included, so you'd need to buy one if you want to do optical. The big plug where the A/V cable goes into the 360 has an optical jack on it.
