my wish list for #14

W.Justice

Ngata

Bunkley

unfortunately i don't think any will be there. if thats the case i hope they trade back and get Mangold.

or since they have a bunch of extra picks in the 4th maybe they'll move up and get one of their targets.

Eagles: Moving on up?

The News

The Eagles are trying to trade to the eighth or ninth position in the first round so they can get defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley or Haloti Ngata, according to ESPN's John Clayton.

Our View

Clayton warns us not to expect a trade with the Bills because Philly isn't willing to give enough to Buffalo for them to pass up a chance to pick one of those defensive tackles. No word on if the Lions, who own the ninth pick, are willing to move down.

Nah, if they were gonna do that they would have signed Randle-El or traded for Brandon Lloyd and then give both tons of money that they aren't worth.

5 picks remaining before the Eagles and all 3 of those guys are left. I'd be happy if they nab any of those 3 at 14.

Rams on the clock and i don't think they're taking of of those guys (Justice, Bunkley, Ngata) which means at least one of the three would be there at 14. :bench:

Bunkney and/or Justice will be there. Nice scenario for the Eagles.

I love it. I almost want Justice more, but wouldn't complain either way.

now they should trade up and land Mangold, that would be ideal.

Unless they have to give up a 2 to get Walker....Give him to us...and FO2 will as happy as a pig in you know what

Looking like a solid draft!

But I still wonder who is going to score TDs for them this season.

Bunk is a BEAST! I've watched him play a lot of ball at FSU. I hope he destroys opposing QBs for ya.

There would have been a day on this Board when the Eagles thread would have drawn 150+ posts on Day One of the draft.

Where have all the Eagles fans gone. :wall:

Could be some just haven't come back to the site yet since it went down. I'm here though and as an Eagles fan I'm estatic about their draft. Bunkley was who they wanted all along. He fell right into their lap. Most in Philly would have been happy if they traded up just to get him. To get him without trading a pick is awesome.

Winston Justice was icing on the cake. Tom Heckert and the Eagles were very high on this guy and I wouldn't be surprised if they thought about taking him at 14. If Bunkley wasn't there, they just might have done that.

Tra Thomas' body has been breaking down on him the past few seasons. I don't trust him to remain healthy all season this year either. His production has also been on a decline for a few years now. Jon runyan is great, but he won't be around forever. Justice provides great depth at the postion this year and will be a starter in the future.

Having Shawn Andrews and Winston Justice line up on the right side of the line could be a he;lluva pairing for the Eagles in the future.

I don't know much about the guy they grabbed in the 3rd, but the ESPN crew said he could be one of the steals of the draft and should contribute on special teams right away.

near perfect day 1

wanted to get 1 of these 3: Bunkley, Ngata, Justice but wasn't sure any would be avilable at 14 and they end up getting 2 of them! excellent. the D-line looks nice: Kearse-Howard on the Ends and Patterson, Bunkley, D.Walker, H.Thomas rotating in the middle. looking real strong there. and Justice can replace Tra or Runyan soon. hopefully he can play Guard in the mean time. i'm real happy with these picks.

don't know much about Gocong the DE. what i read on him wasn't that favorbale but hopefully he can provide more pass rush in spot duty or excel on special teams.

I agree with Byars...though Gocong is a bit better possibly than what I have seen in these draft magazines.....He translates to the SAM LB and is bigger than and more athletic than Jones...hopefully we can expect a good special teams player and then a replacement at OLB

Other than not getting Walker I feel really good about draft day...

What is the wish list for today?

I wouldnt mind Demetrius Williams WR Oregon, Bloom (to be the return man) or even Gabe Watson (can never have enough D-Lineman)

Wow

Max Jean-Gilles is a monster. 6'3 - 355lbs. can't say i know much about him but i love that they went after another O-Lineman here. and at least he's coming from Georgia where he played vs SEC talent. i like this pick

He started every game at "tight" guard as a senior in 2005 and was been named as a consensus first-team All-American

goddam, i love what the eagles are doing in this draft!

now get us a big bruising back and an athletically gifted wr (not one of the short wrs either) and call it a day.

a kick returner/punt returner would be nice to

Jason Avant WR Michigan

6 foot, 212lbs

1,000 and 8 TDs last year.

Avant was an easy and enjoyable receiver to grade because his limitations are strictly in terms of his explosiveness and top-end playing speed. He has the size, strength, hands, competitiveness and all-around athleticism that is ideal for a No. 2 possession receiver. He is going to need to learn to use his hands much better to defeat cornerback jams in order to be a productive receiver in the NFL. For a receiver who lacks true explosiveness, his ability to burst out of cuts and get a step of separation on short/medium routes is surprising. He has the hands to reach out and make tough catches seem routine, and even though he will at times body catch some passes within his frame, he consistently catches those ball well also. Overall, Avant's lack of explosion and elite playing speed will hinder his ability to consistently get separation vs. good NFL cornerbacks and will keep him from becoming a No. 1 receiver. However, he has all the tools to be a good starting No. 2 receiver who will be most effective as a possession-type receiver that will make a lot of catches in traffic and will always be a strong runner after the catch who breaks tackles and gains yards after contact.

Eagles gave up Hollis Thomas and Artis Hicks in these deals to move up. figured Hollis was a goner

Is Hicks any good?

not a stud by any means. but he's a decent backup guard that actually saw some meaningful playing time with the eagles after some injuries.

i kind of trust andy reid in these matters, but it sure seems like a lot to move up 12 spots in the mid-4th round

he was a good backup in philly (keep in mind that the eagles starting o-line is the heaviest on average over any other team in the league. i think they average 345lbs a player).

he's no stud, but he's good enough to start on half the teams in the league
