Farmer Bernie 0 Posted April 29, 2006 steal. If he's fully recovered from his knee injury, there is no doubt about that.
Mr Anonymous 24 Posted April 29, 2006 If he's fully recovered from his knee injury, there is no doubt about that. It's a steal for Denver, but GB got about as good a deal they could get. Well played.

Tobex 0 Posted April 29, 2006 If he's fully recovered from his knee injury, there is no doubt about that. So does this mean we trade Lelie today too? I wish him the best, I think he deserves a shot somewhere else.
Mr Anonymous 24 Posted April 29, 2006 Packers are going to suck ass You might reconsider after we make two more 2nd round picks and three 3rd rounders.
Tobex 0 Posted April 29, 2006 You might reconsider after we make two more 2nd round picks and three 3rd rounders. Still all rookies, but they should have loads of talent for the next few years.
Arsenal 3 Posted April 29, 2006 Good deal for Denver, not too bad for GB either. They traded 36 to NE to take a WR which basically left Denver with nothing and encouraged them to jump on Walker. GB got a bunch of picks which they desparately need.
Mr Anonymous 24 Posted April 29, 2006 Btw, that high 2nd rounder GB got for Walker was more than Minny got for Culpepper.

esoitl 0 Posted April 29, 2006 im kind of shocked that GB didnt have any back up plan here they are still down a WR and there isnt that much left in the draft unless a Boldin comes out of the 3rd round how is this the same group that has screwed up the draft the past 3 years? Huh? It sounds like they played this thing as perfectly as possible. Trade 36 to NE who takes Chad Jackson who Denver no doubt wanted at #37, thus forcing their hand into the Walker deal. And like I said earlier, GB got a higher pick for Walker than Minny got for CPep.
Big_Pete 0 Posted April 29, 2006 This is FANTASTIC news. I've been waiting for this deal to go through since the playoffs. I'm still scratching my head about Cutler though. I think he's gonna be the next Kyle Boller..... and that aint good.

Orgazmo 2 Posted April 29, 2006 Donald Driver and Greg Jennings? I'm being serious
Tobex 0 Posted April 29, 2006 so how do you say walker's value goes as FF wise ? I don't know that we can speculate until training camp. He'll have a full year of rehab under his belt, so that is promising. I wonder how having a threat opposite Rod Smith will affect smith's value.
Tud_duke 0 Posted April 29, 2006 So who do the Packers have to catch Favre's passes? The cornerbacks on the other team. I think they did pretty good last year.
bigtuna 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Denver would have been better off Staying put and taking Chad Jackson. Walker is signed for just this year and then is going to either leave or eat a ton of salary cap room. Instead you would have Chad Jackson for 5 years at very short money. Its a risk whether CJ becomes a top performer, but its also a risk whether Javon can come back to his old self
Arsenal 3 Posted April 29, 2006 So who do the Packers have to catch Favre's passes? Driver, Fergie, Gardner, Boerigter, Jennings If you look at Gb through their successful years, they really never have that much talent at WR. That lineup actually is a lot deeper than they have had for years and should be serviceable. Its a hell of a lot better than they had last year after Walker went down. (for the record, of course I'd love to see Walker in there instead of Jennings, but thats just the way things go sometimes)

I don't think he would have contributed that much. Time will tell I guess, but if Walker is back to his old self, or even 80% of his old self, he's still better than Lelie. Doesn't matter though, Chad Jackson was off the board by their pick anyway.

Antonio Freeman was a Pro Bowl selection as well. Mark Chmura was a Pro Bowl TE and Bubba Franks was a 1st round pick at TE. they had talent and invested heavily in the draft in those positions. Sad thing, as a Vikings Fan, that Ron Wolf stated his only major blunder as GM was not providing more targets for Favre. Who you had mentioned are value. I would not state they ever drafted heavily at wr, ever. Not like Detroit of recent.

ESPN scrolled last night that Denver and Javon were "very close" to signing a six year deal. ETA that according to this article http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_3768338 Lelie was offered as part of the dealio but the Pack said no.

Mark Chmura was a Pro Bowl TE and Bubba Franks was a 1st round pick at TE. they had talent and invested heavily in the draft in those positions. Sharpe was drafted well before Favre came on board and long before Favre became a good quarterback. Brooks and Freeman were third-rounders who proved to be marginal players without Favre. Billy Schroeder had some great 1000 yard seasons for the Packers. Not sure how he did after he left. Likewise, Don Beebe had some awesome games with Favre, too. The list goes on. Chewy would have been a great World League tight end, if he had a different Qb. Favre made the receivers and all of them did exactly jack without him. Find one who did and report back.
