jocstrap 8 Posted June 29, 2006 Joc, are you still searchin' for that elusive #2RB?? I am pumped with my two options for my #2 running back - - One of these guys will bust out 9 td's - - the question is which one? week 1 Atlanta @ Car - might be tough for Foster but the 1st game you really neva know! week 1 - Monday night football - Minny @ Washington - damn that's a tough matchup also Ok I'll make that pick the week of! But hell ya I like these two guys! Who are your #2 and #3 guys?
football_scooter 0 Posted June 29, 2006 Here is a possibility with the Staley pick - he is now big, slow, and fat, yet strong (bus) - I bet he will be given 1 opportunity to convert a 3rd and 1 and he's does successfully...first down! He converts and is now 1 out of 1 in his new short yardage role. He is next given 1 chance and 1 chance only to convert on 3rd and 1 from the 1 and he punches it in ...TD Then the snowball effect occurs and Staley get 10td's on the season! or maybe not! An excellent theory... I have a better one. Cowher decides to see what Staley can do, and puts him in at the goal on 1st and 2. Staley gets the rock, plunges 1 yard into a hole that doesn't exist, and comes up lame after popping his hamstring. Then he's here => for the rest of the season. Much more likely, IMO. Besides, I think Haynes has earned the #2 spot while Staley hasn't earned sh!t. One man's opinion.

I like Haynes tons more, I had him circled and not Staley. Ah but he has earned the right to those td's. Just ask him how he felt two or three years ago when he carried the rock for over 100 yards a game only to end up with 0 td's and the bus had 3td's on 3 carries for 3 yards! It's the circle of life coming back to give him all those 1 yarders!

No, clearly Ive got to let some situations sort themselves out, but Ill probably open up with one of the Colts RBs in primetime on Sunday night vs the Giants if its clear that either Rhodes or Addai will the guy at that point. I actually drafted Cedric Benson the be my #1, so technically, Ron Brown is my #2............and the Colts guys are just bye week fill-ins............ ellisonb11 0 Posted June 29, 2006 yea i took a risk on staley, u never know what he will eventually do for their team...after all, its a free league, fock it! .....but when is the timer going to run out? its almost been 12 hours.
football_scooter 0 Posted June 29, 2006 I actually drafted Cedric Benson the be my #1, so technically, Ron Brown is my #2............and the Colts guys are just bye week fill-ins............ In other words, you have Ronnie Brown and two RBBC guys in Benson (TJones) and the Colts RBBC tandem. Nice one. Good luck with that - should be fun to watch it pan out. I'm fairly certain that neither situation will work out as you think. One man's opinion.

Ace08 11 Posted June 29, 2006 I'm wondering...out of curiousity....how many of you actually WATCHED Vernon Davis play in college? I'm not talking about the highlights from the draft either.... I know he's a combine warrior. His measurables are off the charts....but he doesn't play anywhere near as fast as he timed. For a guy with that much straight-away speed he lacks a quick first step off the LOS. I'm not saying he's not going to be a good pro....but I think this kid is being SEVERELY overrated. Also, that second TE in San Fran ain't bad and is going to catch at least a decent amount of passes. Seeing as the niners aren't going to have much of a passing game due to their QB situation I just don't think there's enough passes to go around to make him a fantasy factor this year especially since Antonio Bryant is going to get a fair amount of catches as well. Good athlete....good hands....but I'm taking a wait-and-see approach on the kid. The kid you guys need to watch out for is the rookie out of Georgia....severely UNDERRATED and the kid can really play.

Yippie Skippy 0 Posted June 29, 2006 I'm not saying he's not going to be a good pro....but I think this kid is being SEVERELY overrated. How can the 132nd pick be considered SEVERELY overrated, regardless of player?? Huge upside and a high ceiling is the exact risk I'm looking for in my backup TE. SoloMatisse 0 Posted June 30, 2006 I may have to send you my picks again tonight, Solo. cool...I doubt we'll get to those picks for a week to 10 days, but I'll stow them away and use them if needed. By the way, your team is lookin solid at this point. Youre gonna be tough to beat. Imo, easily the top team so far....
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted June 30, 2006 1.10 - My Dixie Weekend QB - Donovan McNabb/ Drew Brees RB - Brian Westbrook/Ruben Droughns/A.Green/Chris Brown/Samkon Gado WR - Larry Fitzgerald (2.03?)/Reggie Wayne/Laveranues Coles I really like this team. You have excellent QB depth and four starting RBs that catch the ball a lot. Good trade bait to get a top TE. Unfortunately, you will see how much a top 5 TE will cost once their owners see how many points those players rake in. Your WRs are excellent, as none of them are below #2 quality. Ace QB - Daunte Culpepper RB - Steven Jackson/Willis McGahee/Frank Gore WR - Chris Chambers/Plaxico Burress/Derick Mason/Matt Jones/ TE - Kellen Winslow I like this team because of the WRs. I think Chambers will be big, like top 7 big, and Mason could out perform Burress. Matt Jones is a good bye week fill in worthy of a starting position as he will catch close to 10 tds this year. Daunte might be a top 10 QB this year. Judging his past performances, excluding last year, he should be. One of the draw backs about C-pep is that the man does fumble a lot. 1.11 - Grateful Parrots QB - Eli Manning RB - Rudi Johnson/Julius Jones/Corey Dillon/Chris Perry WR - DJax/Eddie Kennison/David Givens TE - Alge Crumpler/Ben Troupe Good team. Good RB depth, and because chris perry catches so many passes, he wouldn't be a bad bye week replacement. The receivers are really good as I believe all three will have 1000 yeard seasons. I like Givens this year. Crumpler will continue to be Vick's #1 target and should put up his usual numbers. I like Eli but I don't like him enough to agree with some who claim this kid will be better than his brother. Granted Eli may have threw for more yards in his rookie season than his brother, his completion percentage was like ten points lower. (that's off the top of my head, so don't kill me if I am totally wrong) 1.06 - Clash of the Titans QB - Peyton Manning/Ron Mexico RB - Run Tiki Tiki Tiki Run! Barber/Fred Taylor/LenDale White WR - Hines Ward/Donald Driver/Terry Glenn TE - L.J. Smith Very strong team. The only weakness is lack of depth at RB and WR, caused by thearly Manning pick which almost always does that. Hum, I could see LJ smith being a top 5 TE this year. Manning should be the #1 QB this year. Tiki is a top #5 RB.....all been said before. As for Glenn, i don't see him having a big year. 1.04 - The Unwashed Masses QB - Trent Green RB - Clinton Portis/Willie Parker/DeAngelo Williams/ Mike Anderson/Verron Haynes WR - Chad Johnson/Andre Johnson/Jerry Porter/Joe Jurevicius TE - Tony Gonzalez Trent Green has seen better days but he can still throw for 4000 in his sleep, but will he under Herm Edwards? I'm confident Tony G will have a a big year. Just a hunch. More TD catches, but less receptions. Your starting receivers are better than average, though I'm not too sure about their back up. C Portis and W Parker are good RBs and it might only be a matter of time before D Williams is starting in Carolina. 1.02 - howie929 QB - Drew Bledsoe RB - Shawn Alexander/Reggie Bush/Kevan Barlow/Greg Jones/T.J. Duckett WR - Marvin Harrison/Javon Walker/Joe Horn/Keyshawn Johnson TE - Jason Witten Your team might be explosive out of the gate because of the veteran talent, but they will tail off as the season wears on. Bledsoe will be a bit more consistant this year with TO but he has a history of starting fast and then crawling to the finish line. With the age you have at receiver, you might be in trouble down the stretch with injuries and decreased production. At RB you are solid as I am sure R Bush will catch a lot of passes this year, but he shouldn't get many oppertunities for TDs.
football_scooter 0 Posted June 30, 2006 just so you all know, that's the sleeper QB I've been wanting to talk about since we started this draft, but couldn't. Mange forearm, here I come? lol I think Simms is going to bust wide open in Gruden's offense. Word is that the team loves his ethic, and that he's been frequently seen at the training facility at 5 PM all through the offseason. I seriously think Simms is the best sleeper QB in the NFL this year for FFB. Nothing outrageous, but I could see 2 TDs with 240 yds pretty consistently. Good team around him, looked sharp when they started turning him loose last year...I love this pick.

Simms could be really nice for you.......heck, imo he'll be your #1 more often than not. jocstrap 8 Posted June 30, 2006 I will be out of pocket until about 2:30 cst today - then I'll get right on those two picks. Good pick Scooter on Simms, and who in the hell just picked Priest Holmes??
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted June 30, 2006 who in the hell just picked Priest Holmes?? Lucifer's monkey boy. I just think he is too good of a player to not have announced his retirement yet. Some say he is going through the motions to get a $710,000 pay day, but I get the feeling he is going to play this season. Priest has said in a number of interviews that it will be his decision whether he plays or not, and he has said he wants to play. To my understanding, he has the same medical problem as a certain Browns RB, and he too was advised that if he continues to play his condition could make him more prone to a spinal injury, but he refuses to retire. Who knows? Priest was a 12th round pick and if he plays he could be the stephen davis or the FWP of this draft. That sounded weird, but you know what I mean - great value, late round. Your alright in my book...I don't care what Scooter says about you. I think Eli being in his 3rd year should step it up a notch and lessen his int ratio. This will sound foolish, but I see Eli pretty much matching Peyton this year since he doesn't have Edge to dump off too, which would be pretty cool in my book. Plus, since I pissed Scoots off with this pick, he must be a jewell

Plus, since I pissed Scoots off with this pick, he must be a jewell I truly think people are underestimating what Eli is going to do this year - I think he's going to be FFB stud. The only limiting factor might be that the Giants have an excellent defense, which keeps games from getting too out of hand. But I do think in joc's esteemed rankings, he may have overlooked some of your players. By the way guys, I'm sorry it took so long for me to pick. I worked all week with the flu, and when I got home I pretty much passed out dead to the world. I just woke up in a cold sweat with 102 temperature. That might explain the Pittman pick. lol No, I actually like that pick a lot - never have enough RBs, eh Joc? Sorry to whomever took Caddy...I have a thing for poductive receiving backs in a PPR league. Be happy though...I almost took a QB3 there just to irritate the teams that don't have backups. I like where youve gone with your last 2 slots. even though they ARE both Bucs.....kinda weird. I dunno......... what can I say - not my fault they're both bucs....and it fit my BYE schedule, too. Besides, the run on Bucs was too irrisistable. Caddy was hurt last year, and Pittman is one of the more underrated backs out there...he might have lasted another round, but I already had him ranked well above a dozen players already picked. We'll see if it pans out...could be a wasted pick.

jocstrap 8 Posted July 1, 2006 Just in case you guys missed this on the front page of fftoday! Unlike last season, the Titans will have a proven target opposite receiver Drew Bennett this fall. The arrival of former Patriots star David Givens should take some pressure — and attention — off of the team's most productive wideout in 2005. Also, Bennett will be playing with a quarterback who knows him better than anyone else. And for the first time in a while, he's completely healthy. (Nashville Tennessean) Galloway teams #1 wr - Bennett teams #1 wr - TJ houshmanzadah & Stallworth very respectable #2's I'm pretty excited about that wr corps. football_scooter 0 Posted July 2, 2006 Galloway teams #1 wr - Bennett teams #1 wr - TJ houshmanzadah & Stallworth very respectable #2's Galloway: old, coming off a career season, never should have been drafted that high Bennett: decent, but nothing to write home about. Volek will be wildly inconsistent and when the Titans are 2-6 [the rookie]will get his chances, which further reduce his value. Housh and Stallworth are probably better than either of those two, and since we don't know about the health of [QBx's] shoulder, even Stallworth has his question marks. Not to mention his apparent passion for hurting his hammys. My only question remaining is how much crack you smoked before you made this post, because your WRs are the suck. good luck with that though.

Scooter, you of all people just announced my undrafted #2 qb while he is still on the market . I agreed on not mentioning names throughout the draft and you just flucked up. If you are so down on Galloway, why did you draft simms as your #2 qb saying he has the potential to do really well? I know it's not because of the Wr #2 in clayton? Three licks with the paddle for that one! Not to mention 2 undrafted QB's?

Volek still thinks that Bennett will still have a 1000 season though, but as a #2 as I iinterpreted in what I read. But, Volek may just be pandering to him and keeping him optimistic about his season. I know it's not because of the Wr #2 in clayton? I drafted Clayton. I thought he was a special player in college and think he will be the same in the pros. He had a nice first season, but that was out of necessity and a fluke. I believe he will be a 1000 year receiver and have 65 -70 catches with a upside of maybe 80 catches. After all, he is a 3rd year receiver, but of course, only the truly good WRS receive the 3rd year bump. Jury is out. Three licks with the paddle for that one! kinky Nice pick of Leftwich, El. Guy gets no fantasy respect.
