jocstrap 8 Posted June 24, 2006 12 hours doesn't lie on the picks only board (the clock never lies)-I think when we ALL signed up for this, our understanding that a "slow draft" meant 12 hours! 12 HOURS AND YOU ARE UP, FINISHED, THE COMMISH WILL PICK WHAT HE THINKS IS BEST FOR YOUR TEAM WITHOUT GROUP DISCUSSION. 12 hours =1 pick, 24 hours for the 1 and 12 man = 2 picks. Plain and simple! P.S. if you don't want it to lead to that, then I would suggest you drop someone your picks. It's your responsibility not the other 11 of us to decide. Other then that, good luck boys because I'm taking name and kickin' arse
Miller_Time_21 0 Posted June 24, 2006 ok, faq it. My momma didn't raise no quitter. Because Joc cracked me up with this post, and because it will irritate Ace and Miller alike, I've decided to stay to win my BUT This sh!t needs to stop. 1. people not in this draft who are posting on this topic to antagonize need to STFU and go away. 2. people in this draft need to show some respect - that means engaging in civil debate and not resorting to name calling childish crap because you disagree. It also means sending in your friggin picks if you know you'll be out beyond your 12 hour limit 3. Most importantly, we need to collectively agree on what to do if someone is not here for their pick. Picking for them sucks, IMO, becuase they aren't penalized for inconveniencing the rest of the league. Kennison is a good example - he's a WR who fell farther than he should have, but landed on Ungrateful Parrot's roster. Now Parrot focked us all over by making us wait all that time and he's rewarded with a good player for it. I call BS. Here's a suggestion: If you aren't here to pick I say you get skipped like in the real NFL. You then get an hour. Not here for that? Skipped again. And so on. Miss your pick 3 times and we replace you with someone who will commit to this league. Just tossing it out there and I'm totally open to suggestions. Jesus. what a league. You people are all insane. I hope you know that. 1. Until Sunday afternoon, I am in the draft, and b/c it will irritate the hell out of you, I have no intention of going away, so deal with it. 2. You not going to iriate me by staying, I'm glad you decided to stay, I knew you weren't leaving though, you can never leave anything until you have the last word. You need to stop being iritated by my comments so much, what I say really doesn't matter all that much, it doesn't hurt to ignore me. 3. Again, glad to see ya staying, all I wanted to do was talk about the value of Perry to be honest, didn't realize the storm I was walking into with the proxy pick crap. You as usual took me too extreme, and me as usual took your comment too extreme. It's been entertaining though..... To joc and Steel city, thanks for the kind words, anything I can do to help ya guys out this weekend just let me know. The entertainment in this league ius too high for me to walk away now.....kinda liek a good train wreck, you don't want to look, but you just can help but stare.... But I assume all you guys are bashing me...I'm officially offended, yeah right. I'm having a fantastic time with my my wife and daughter. I checked who's been picked. Thanks Solo for jumping in. Not my top picks, but begger's cant be choosers...and I like the stradegy anyway. I email Guru my next 3 guys on my list as a target. Clash of the Titans 1 Posted June 24, 2006 ya know ....i gave this league some thought here today....and personally i think we need to just scratch this draft and start over....i have been playing ff for 7 years and this is the most chaotic draft i have ever been in....anyone that wants to drink a 12 pack of bud light on a saturday night and read the commentary thread will have the time of their life....... seriously....i think we should agree on a night in july...get together and just knock out a live draft on yahoo....it's 90 seconds per pick and wout take no more than a couple of hours... or just set a date.....at the rate this going it's going to be another 3 weeks..cause i don't expect anyone to be around the 4th of july weekend..i certainly won't...i thought this thing take no longer than a couple of weeks this has just become a comedy of errors...we have people missing picks constantly.....people quitting...people coming back after quitting...people getting others to draft for them....the commish making picks for people timing out and not even taking starters but backups...the rules being created as we go....has it even been decreed how defensive points wil be scored? solo i know you are trying and doing what you feel is right...i appreciate the effort..but i honestly feel you need to make a league constitution and have the rules cover every common-sense situation imaginable... we definitely need some rules about trash-talking as well....then we should proceed with the draft...just set a date after the 4th that we almost all can agree on....then it's done...if you time out during ..yahoo picks for you... no worries about choice of picks...if you can't be there 4 the draft and want to be in the league then you can create a several hundred player draftsheet and yahoo will draft the players for you! this has just become borderline silly! no offense and i know i am part of it as well..i aplogize for holidng it up today but i was just trying to help the parrot since i inferred from his post he didn't want the players.... anyway it's your call solo but i think it's the logical & rational thing to do..what are your opinions guys? sincerely, clash

Um, make your pick? Flaws can be found in any situation especially when they are constantly eccentuated and expounded upon exhaustively. The problem is that as this draft comes to a close owners will start looking at their teams and realize, for whatever reason, they had a bad draft and want to quit... From experience, I've noticed this happens more in leagues where people argue too much. Let's finish this draft up! Clash, if you don't want your team, I'm sure sombody would. Its pretty good. As long as this draft has taken, surely one of these past nights we could have all agreed to be online and do a live draft, but you know...hindsight. I'm off to MGM today. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clash, for what it is worth, as the above post indicates, GP has sent me a list for his next picks. I don't believe he feels he has to check in anytime soon. He probably figures he is covered for a couple of days. He also indicated in the above post that he was fine with the stradegy that was used on his last two picks. If he is fine with it, then why pursue a trade on the premise that he is not? Do as see fit, as I am just trying to help out for those that need their picks posted. I must say that I don't understand why you have allowed your time to lapse. As far as your comment on Sweetness getting all weekend, as an outside observer, it is my opinion that two wrongs do not make a right. I have probably said more than I should. But, you guys can finish this thing just the way you started it, if everyone would make their picks in a timely manner without any excuses. Think positive. Just my thinking. As far as GP's pick if it gets that far, I have an 8:00 am tee time in a tourney. I will be able to check back in around 3:00 pm CT tomorrow. Good luck to everyone on their picks. Ace08 11 Posted June 24, 2006 Honestly Scooter....you are a pathetic excuse for a human being. I've never met a bigger dork that I've never actually met. You quit to take a "stand" and then immediately decide to "rejoin" because you think it will "piss me off" or something to that extent. I could care less if you're in, out, or die between now and the end of this draft. You're a waste of internet space. And another thing...if you're gonna stick around learn to take sh1t from people if you're gonna keep acting the way you do...I will CONTINUE to call you out every time you act like a jack a$$ which will probably be no longer than 2.5 seconds from now. Don't go crying to anyone in the league or looking for any "moral" support. I'm tired of your act. That is all.....back to the draft.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Holy "Overcomplication" Batman!! Simplicity is the unappreciated beauty of life. Fellas, why must we as human beings constantly overcomplicate things? Look, here is how its going to be. This is an absolute, and take it straight up word for word exactly how I state every last syllable of the following...... I am commissioning this league, and what Ill say from here on out WILL GO.......in THIS league. I'm tired of it, officially. If you dont like it, then just walk. Its no big deal. Noone's feelings will be hurt.....definitely not mine. If you guys collectively decide to axe me, then so be it. Youll have a nice league without me. Again, no feelings will be hurt. But Ive grown weary of the daily grind here, and questioning my decisions because Ive chosen to apply a little more democracy as a commissioner than really need be. Ive never once for a second tried to offer myself any advantages ( I drafted Ron Brown with my #1 pick for God's sake!) , or put any other owners at disadvantages. In each instance of delayed picks, Ive made individual, isolated decisions with each case and moved forward. Those decisions have differed. To this point, theyve all been fair, and theyve all worked out. That WILL continue in the future. But Im telling you right now, if you dont like this philosophy or my decision making moving forward, then go ahead and back out right now. Ive been nothing but absolutely objective to this entire league from the moment its been formed. The scoring system, in its entirety, including defensive scoring, is posted on our Yahoo league site. Take a look at it. Its been the same for weeks now. If you read it and dont understand anything or Ive missed setting something up, get back to me. As far as drafting for GP, the man himself has stated he's happy with the picks and that is that. I wasnt about to take some lower tiered QB out of desperation for him because he didnt have one on his team yet. The QB run is over......one other owner doesnt have a Q. And GP can simply wait on a TE. There was no value in picking a TE right now in either of those spots. He had one WR on his team...he needed a 2nd. And we're picking 20 players in this draft........who here does NOT want to end up with atleast 7 RBs? GP now has 4. I drafted someone's entire team last year in another league because he was absent from his own draft, and didnt take a QB until the 9th friggin' round...........and that guy was Carson Palmer.....I took Hasselbeck in the next round as insurance.....which was FIVE rounds AFTER I chose Larry Johnson as the guy's THIRD RB! Maybe I should have chosen a QB in the 5th round instead of LJ then too??? And, no I wasnt a player in that league just an onlooker, and Im sure the rest of THOSE guys ended up pissed too, but that was also a GREAT league. The point is, there are still a host of valuable QBs left in this draft, one or two of which will likely finish top 5. So, GP will settle for who I chose for him, even though Im also member of the league and it may give him a bit of an advantage considering Im such a gifted drafter, but that decision was absolutely made out of HASTE and FAIRNESS. Moving forward, Id love to see Clash of the Titans make a pick this morning because Clash if you havent picked by 7AM, I will vault you in this case and encourage everyone else to do the same. Offering ghost trades to GP at this point is not nessecary. There will be no trading DURING the draft. Youve had more than ample time, and to be quite frank, the longer this draft drags on, the MORE patient Ive become, so in my book there is no chance of scrapping this thing and starting over from the beginning. Lets keep this thing as simple as possible. No consititutions. No griping over things not being fair. No complaining about personal attacks. At this point, we all know what we're in for. Again, if you dont like it, speak now or forever be prepared to all play for 2nd place! Clash, pick already.

As far as a TE, I picked Crumpler, he's still a TE right? yeah maybe I need a second in case he gets hurt in training camp, but there's still some on the list that I'm targeting. Do I need a QB? I picked E.Manning, he's still playing football right? Yeah, maybe I need a second to cover my bye week, but I have a crappy plan for that as well. And it's not like his name hasn't been mentioned - it's in the topic title of both topics! You got a steal there with JP, and I think part of the reason he slid was because of the league name. You dont have Moss, so youre good to go. Don't you lie to me and say you don't already have a magazine. Flip to the back, check out Jerry Porter's stat's , yup I wanted him, glenn, brown really bad, K.Rob. football_scooter 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Well, though we may lose Ace as a result of my helping to commission this league, I went ahead and updated the draft topic/league rosters anyway. Guru - get ready to take over? Seriously - we're up to date as of the Porter pick. Many scary good rosters, and many rosters that are one breakout player away from being scary. One thing's standing out as a trend this year: Most teams got great value on rookie or veteran RBs - McCrapsticker in the 8th, CMart, Fred Taylor in the 6th or 7th? Wow - any of those guys could be a 2nd round value...and with the rooks, Marony, Williams, etc - they went prety late as well. Plus the RBBC types in Gore/Barlow and a few other examples...those are the kinds of late picks that win leagues. Overall I am pretty impressed by the overall look of this league - looking at the team by team rosters, this among the most balanced drafts I've seen. Should be a very competitive league. Flip to the back, check out Jerry Porter's stat's , yup I wanted him, Then I've done my job. Allow me to be the first to say, "ha ha!"
football_scooter 0 Posted June 24, 2006 [serious post....no, really] Please take a moment and check your rosters. I am pretty sure this is what solo will use to post the league on Yahoo when we get finished (sometime in 2008) so check it out and make sure I didn't fock it up. If I did, let me know and I'll correct it. [/serious post....no, really]
