football_scooter 0 Posted July 9, 2006 Not a bad pick this deep, solo. I think Williams is more likely to play that role - that they won't need Shelton in there because they'll either use "tough-as-nails" Foster (ha ha ha) or the rookie Williams. they drafted him high enough that he'll have a role.....but it's a good upside pick nonetheless. We've seen every RB in CAR hurt a couple times now making guys like Shelton suddenly a borderline starting option. this deep I can't insult you for that pick. I can insult you in general or for other as yet undetermined reasons though. For example, "you're mother dresses you funny", and "you wear a helmet...not while riding a bike, just in general....in case you fall down"
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted July 9, 2006 PP could be in for a resurgance back in BUF...a lot depends on McGahee's ability to not be a pile of crap. That and I just can't see taking kickers when there's still WRs on the table. Peerless does have contract incentives built into his contract that he could reach if he becomes the Bills #1 receiver. I don't think he'll reach them, but who knows? I am sure Fairchild wants Peerless to become what Isaac Bruce has been for the Rams in the #2 role. If this is the case, he could put up good fantasy numbers. With the bonus points kickers get in this league, it doesn't hurt to get one with a strong leg a round or two early.. Steel City Blues 0 Posted July 9, 2006 With the bonus points kickers get in this league, it doesn't hurt to get one with a strong leg a round or two early.. Wow! I've never seen anyone get slammed for waiting too long to draft a kicker. Playing since 1989, I've only been hurt ONCE by waiting too long to take a kicker. Just a few years ago I projected Akers in my top 3 before everyone had him ranked up there. In the 17th round of a 21 round draft, I grabbed a boom/likelybust #6 WR. Some moron grabbed Akers on the turn as a backup & left me with my 13th ranked kicker. Akers would have helped me win a close first game. I led the league in scoring that year but had the most points scored againt by 10+ points per week than the next guy. Finished 9-5 (Division record tiebreaker burned me) one game out of the playoffs where I would have won. Fluke? Yes. Will I usually wait to draft kickers again? Yes. I suck! Rye & Leaf 0 Posted July 9, 2006 Wow! I've never seen anyone get slammed for waiting too long to draft a kicker. I wouldn't call it a slam. I can fix that. Nice job, Scooter! Damn, you should have taken a kicker early, bro! You'll probably have a losing season because of that decision! Ah yes, that's better

SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 9, 2006 Clash has become an embarrasingly slack fool in this draft, timing out every single pick almost out of spite, and his team is clearly reflecting it. Dont feel bad for him...he'll have all season to do that for himself............. here's a smiley face just to show Im messin' with ya........you fun lovin' guy, you........ jocstrap 8 Posted July 9, 2006 What a sports Sunday for the Jocstrap! Woke up to watch Federer win his 4th consectutive Wimbledon. Then Watched Italy beat The French Focker's I can't stand in the World Cup Shootout. 24 24 24 And Go Gordon Go just won Chicago Land Baby! That's NASCAR for all you that aren't rednecks living in the SOUTH. Can't get any better than that in the offseason. I can't remeber the last time everyone I was cheering for actually won! Now I've got the pork loin going on the grill, and a six pack of Bud Light cracked open .
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted July 9, 2006 Sweetness, have a question. Why so many QBs? Can you reveal that strategy, or is it still too early? Or maybe scooter has the team listings incorrect. Grossman would be your 4th QB according to his list.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 9, 2006 Ive got a better question for Sweet........why on earth do you have 2 Ds already? TWO Ds? ......that was through 16 rounds...that must have been a typo.

Yippie Skippy 0 Posted July 10, 2006 ...the way Foster's played, he's more likely to be wearing a girdle than a joc.......poor guy will be lucky to score 3 TDs all year. That joke might be a little funny if every football player at every level did not wear a girdle which holds the hip pads and tailbone pad you see on every player. Seriously, how many of you can admit that you never played the game and are just huge fans of the game who want to learn more?? Oh and your workhorse RB Shelton was named after a ponie. SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 10, 2006 never played the game......just a sandlot guy myself, but have been watching it since the mid 70s, and in baseball we call that thing 'sliding pants'.....anything but the dreaded 'g' word. But Shelton? Pony? or are you thinking Shetland?? Touche my friend, you got me after a few microbrews last night. My joke woulda been a little funnier had you drafted Eric Shetland... Actually I remember a cheerleader named Ann who got totally turned on by a football player in his girdle. She loved to tease and giggle over it. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but hey, at least I got laid in high school because of the mighty girdle. Fond girdle memories for me I tell ya.
Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 10, 2006 I do not have 4 Qbs folks....I have 3 (Palmer, Favre, Grossman) The logic is simple. If Palmer does decide to take 6 weeks off or something, I will have 2 QBs that play an easy schedule who I can juggle if required. Favre & Grossman play the NFC North defenses (other than Bears they are all average at best and have new schemes going for them in some cases like Lions and Minny) Also, the logic behind 2 defenses is simple too. I love playing D by matchups and I love the match ups and talent.

jocstrap 8 Posted July 11, 2006 Man with the way we were moving earlier I thought I was going to get to pick during the week. But no... we have come to a screeching halt again. I want to pick during this week, not the wknd . Who the hell's pick is it anyway. Let's get it done then I'm going to do a cool ranking system that I have never seen done before! I know you guys are curious to see who the final pick of the draft is going to be anyway!

football_scooter 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Instant FFToday Classic. I like the sound of that! Thank you Scooter. I was having a pretty crappy day until I read your comment & the thread you started about it. Funny stuff. Yeah, and wouldn't you know it, that ###### FlaHawker came in and tried to say it was me belittling another member. what a tool. And on the crappy side, I am pissed off to report that I drew the 10th overall focking pick in the WCOFF - they drew tonight and posted. I just got back from seeing Roomfull of Blues at a local jazz club and wouldn't you know it...something to ruin what was a pretty good day. I coulda handled 5th or 6th or even 7th...I figure I get a LJordan or a SJax there hands down. Now all my RB1/Rb2 are total risks, but I can't afford to take a WR in the 2nd because it's a focking flex league and it's too many g0ddamn picks between my 2 & 3. I am so depressed. What a focking nightmare. I so wanted a top 4...then WR in the 2nd and RB2 in the 3rd. Now I have no shot at anyone I actually want and will "end up" with 2 players I don't. FOCK! football_scooter 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Sigh......maybe Rudi will fall to me at 1.10 and Westbrook at 2.03 Then I could score an Anquan Boldin/Andre Johnson 1-2 at WR...then god help me at flex. It woulda been just so much easier to have a high pick. I cannot believe I got 10th.
Steel City Blues 0 Posted July 11, 2006 by the time you draft, DD may not be drafted in the top 2-3 rounds as reports of knee trouble grow. On the bright side, Benson will be named the official starter & become a 1st round pick to take his place. Some fool could get Benson and Westy on the turn. You can always take KJ at 2.

It woulda been just so much easier to have a high pick. I cannot believe I got 10th. I think you gotta go RB, RB (C. Taylor?), WR, RB, WR, RB. With the WCOFF scoring formatt, I wouldn't draft a QB until the 7th or 8th round. You could at least get Plummer or Beese at worst, and thats pretty good. Draft a TE in the 8th, 9th or 10th round. You could at least get Plummer or Beese at worst, and thats pretty good. Draft a TE in the 8th, 9th or 10th round. That's my plan, but the issue there is that RBs will likely be the 1st 15 picks. I'm not sure I want to be sucking hind tit on that run. I could conceivably go RB-WR-RB-WR-RB One mock I did from the 10 spot netted me the following start: 1.10 Rudi Johnson 2.03 Brian Westbrook 3.10 Antonio Gates 4.03 Chester Taylor 5.10 Andre Johnson 6.03 Cedric Benson I would be thrilled with this, though I doubt CTaylor falls that far - and it would look decidedly worse with Reuben Drougns there as a RB2 instead. Another I did had me with 1.10 Rudi Johnson 2.03 Brian Westbrook 3.10 Warrick Dunn 4.03 Hines Ward 5.10 Andre Johnson 6.03 Cedric Benson Also a solid team, but again - not sure if Ward falls that far in a PPR. Taking the unconventional approach of VBD I ended up with this 1.10 Rudi Johnson 2.03 Larry Fitz 3.10 Antonio Gates 4.03 Reuben Droughns 5.10 Cedric Benson 6.03 Rod Smith All in all, it's my worst nightmare. Anywhere after 6th, I wanted 12. Now I'm not low enough to have the bookend, and not high enough to be sure of getting a player I really want in the 1st or 2nd. Then the 3rd and 4th seem like the tail ends on WR and RB runs. Gah. I fear if the list of RBs dwindles I might have to go with an unconventional approach and reach for Westbrook at 1.10, then take best WR available at 2.03 Rough pull...rough pull. I had a 50% chance at a top 6 position and missed. I'm so irritated. IMO, any of the above could compete for a league title, but winning it all? Fat chance. jocstrap 8 Posted July 11, 2006 Scooter - bad luck on the 10th pick I think if you could land Rudi, that would be the best scenario. If Rudi goes then . Map out a couple of wr -wr? Smith, Moss - - or your two favorites. Then back it up with 3 rb picks and hope a tatum bell, Kevin Jones, DESHAUN FOSTER, or Rhodes, pan out or explodes onto the scene. You are for sure going to have to take some big chances at the 10th spot to be the champ. What about Manning - Harrison combo? Palmer-CJ combo? I think you should explore all options so your team is not full of "average guys"
football_scooter 0 Posted July 11, 2006 What about Manning - Harrison combo?Palmer-CJ combo? The "combo" is a myth. It is a meaningless fantasy that having the QB-to-WR matters in the slightest. It doesn't. If your QB throws for 300 yds and 2 TDs and your WR has 100 receiving with 2 TDs, why would it possibly matter that they're on the same team? That said, I've had combos by accident, and it can be a crushing blow to get a deep TD, but that's purely coincedence. It would be the same blow if your unrelated QB-WR had good days. It just seems like more because it's all scored at once with the "combo". It's not even remotely resembling a viable strategy though and doing such in this league would seal my fate. Remember: PPR and Flex + TE manditory. QBs are dogsh!t in this league format. No way will I reach for a QB in a league where passing TDs are only 4 points. I'll let some other chump do that while I snooze on a QB until the 8th round. My 1st 7 picks will be RBs and WRs. Maybe an elite TE if Gates is there late 3rd.
