If you haven't noticed by now...I don't follow conventional wisdom and refuse to "reach" for need. I always try to take why I feel is the most "valuable" in my eyes. Guys have gone RB crazy in the draft but conversely I think alot of people have compromised their other starting spots which will in turn give me an advantage. What good is a #5 RB when you're starting #3 WR, TE or D is weak as hell? My entire starting lineup is set and I have 1 solid WR and 1 solid RB reserve....which is all I feel I really need at this point. I can take some calculated risks later on RB's I think will be sleepers.

My pick there was going to be Marion Barber....the last RB or WR who I felt was worthy of a pick 10.04. Great pick by Yippie so I had to go to plan B. I'm extremely happy with my 4 wide receivers.....the pickings at Rb are extremely slim at this point and any one of the RB's I'd choose at this point will be available at 11.09......so why reach? The backup QB I really like will also be available later....so once again why reach? I'd rather have the #1 rated whatever over the #38 running back or take my 5th wide receiver.

If you look at the June Mock the Bears D went around the 11th round. They are the only D I would even think of drafting early and I don't think they would have made it all the way back to me at 11.09. Devin Hester is going to make that Bears D/ST even more valuable...since I think he'll be good for at least 3-4 TD returns alone.

glad we are becoming more ohesive as a league...

i apologize if i offended anyone....i was getting aggravated somewhat at some of the behavior here....but it's all good and i hope i didn't step over the line by being sarcastic and holding up the draft....believe it or not i like to cut up ( albeit very sarcastic on occasion ) and wasn't really angry....i hadn't read anywhere where trading during the draft wasn't allowed...maybe i just missed it.....i was trying to assist the parrot whom i felt wasn't happy deep down with the manner of picks

at the point i posted where maybe we should all redraft one evening when we were all available online...i really thought the league was on the verge of falling apart with the odd rash of behavior ...however i commend solo on keeping the boat steady and proceeding with the draft....good call....this league has a nice group of unique characters and i'm glad to be a part of it......

lol and ryan's leaf i would NEVER quit a league because of a bad draft....it would only be for real life reasons... i am dam shore not quitting this one.....i feel i have assembled a formidable squad and nabbed some nice value picks along the way like the last one with LJ in the 10th...too funny i am being called out by someone who had the audacity to take the username of one of the biggest choking busts in the history of the nfl

prepare for more shenanigans from this clown

I feel ya AND I hear ya, but the point Im going to make is this. Its early for a D when you dont know exactly what youre going to get with the team. Illustration.......last year at this time, Baltimore was the unanimous #1 rated D as Chicago is now, followed by New England and Buffalo. Baltimore's D ended up doing squat as did NE and Buffalo. How many guys do you think burned early picks on those Ds last year only to end up dropping those Ds and grabbing Cinci or the Giants up off the waiver wire?? The Bears were ranked 13th last year, and generally ended up top 3 in most leagues across the country. So, I never expect the top D from the previous season to repeat those #s. I understand youre reaching for the Bears and thinking you got a #1 at a position, but alot can change in a year. But as they say, that's why they play the games. And that's why Im about to draft another running back...... :argue:

Lol...I don't think you're gonna take the RB I like but if you do I'll beat you with a rubber hose. :argue:

And trust me...I made the exact same argument about turnover of defenses from one year to the next somewhere either in this thread or the one that got deleted when someone talked about rating strength of schedules...I completely agree with you. However....last year for example I didn't even rank Baltimore's D in the top 5. It's not cause I'm some master prognosticator or anything...but there were warning signs there....They lost both starting defensive tackles which immediately meant to me that Ray Lewis was going to be fighting double teams all year....and since Ray Ray makes that D go...I wanted no part of them.

The Bears however...are a totally different story. First off...they play in a REALLY weak divison. You can make a case that all 6 division games are TERRIFIC matchups for that D. Second...they are a young defense and have retained practically EVERYONE. Third.....the drafting of Devin Hester is going to automatically give them one of the best return/special teams in the league.

So my bet is even if they don't finish #1...I've guaranteed myself a top 3 D.

And for the record...if you take the RB I like I'll beat you with a rubber hose.

Let's just say if you took him with either of your next 2 picks it would be considered a "reach"....but I really like him. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you guess right...I'll tell ya. :argue:

BooooYaaaa on those two picks! A little Brandon Jacobs and Maurice Morris insurance for good ol' Strapper! I did not plan on that, but every wr I wanted in that round was snatched right out from under me. Good picks in the 10th to all of you that picked WR's - took everyone that I wanted. :ninja:

the Rivers pick was painstaking...........cant help but think upside here.

And you gave Me crap about the Bears pick??? :first:

For all intents and purposes you just selected a rookie QB.

Edit: And for the record, Sweetness just took the Steelers 2 picks before my next pick at 11.09....which means I probably wouldn't have gotten the Bears on the way back.....unless his username is just a decoy :D

Picks list updated to current, and rosters updatored as well.

If you notice something screwy, please let me know & I'll edit.

Oh, and at some point, these two topics might get migrated...just got an email from MikeMac, and I think we're getting our own league forum. So if you come in here and don't see it, go back, scroll down, bingo.

Cheers,

u know, i ws aiming for kitna, but in a round later or 2... with martz airing down the field, theres no excuse why he doesnt produce good numbers, unless he gets hurt with the lack of protection.... well there goes my later round pick.

He's was the highest rated player on my board right now, regardless of position........I actually have him ranked higher than the last 4 QB's that have been drafted. Not that I think he's a great individually talented player..... but when was the last time a Mike Martz quarterback DIDN'T produce? Kitna had a nice year TWO years ago....go back and look at his stats from that season....26 TD's and 15 INT while throwing for almost 3600 yards. I don't think it's a stretch to say Mike Martz could actually help IMPROVE those numbers. Do you think Fitzpatrick is ever going to start another NFL game on any other team other than the ones he started last year???? Even HE produced.....

Then you need a new board.

Kitna is a guy I really like. That said, given the opportunity to do something when Palmer went down in the playoffs, Kitna choked bad. And that was with a great offense. Not to mention an offense he already knew.

Now he's in a new offense. New coaching, new players. And his WRs seem to be vying for "who's the biggest 1st round bust" award. Poor O-Line, mediocre defense...

My "upside" projections for Kitna:

2700/22/15

If that's better than the 4 ahead of him, good for you - but he won't win you many fantasy titles. Good luck with that pick - could have had him 2 rounds later, IMO.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.....likewise I think Trent Green was a waste of a pick...especially how early you took him. I have no problem saying Kitna will outproduce Trent Green this year. I'm not willing to bet money on it...but go ahead and add that little "bragging rights" wager to the bottom of your sig and I'll own up to it at season's end.

Also...I would love to hear who you could possibly have rated higher at this point given the absolute purging of running backs in this draft.

How about a 2 week sig bet then? Put your sig where your mouth is?

I'm down if you are - you think Kitna will outproduce Green? I call that a bet.

And "how early" I took Green? You mean the 6th round? Yeah - pretty early for a guy who's averaged 4000 yds a season when the run on QBs was coming hot & heavy.

Also...I would love to hear who you could possibly have rated higher at this point given the absolute purging of running backs in this draft.

I would love to share my wisdom with you - perhaps I will once the players I'd be mentioning have been drafted.

Great job. Well done. :dunno:

Guys, I know it is GP's pick @ 11.11. He has not contacted me with his picks, since the last pick. *Sorry...but I won't be able to pick for him. Maybe he has sent them to someone else. Maybe with his vacationing, someone might have his cell phone to to let him know. Good luck to all.

'rookie' QBs whove done something......

Culpepper's 2nd season........40total TDs

Roethlisberger's true rookie regular season record 14-0

Kurt Warner's rookie season........Superbowl title, MVP, 41total TDs

Tom Brady's 2nd season......Superbowl title..........

Hey, 'Ace'...........what's that again about 'rookie' QBs???? ;) Ive said it before, and Ill say it again....the only thing that sucks about June drafts is waiting months to whoop people's asses with the guys they all think are scrubs.......

Me too. First evah.

The prospect of sweating out the preseason is already making me ill. Players like Javon Walker, Soljah and Jamal Lewis can get knocked out before week 1. Normally, I don't draft until just before the season starts. This is going to be interesting.

For early drafts I try to take guys with good track records of health.

Not my primary decision, mind you, but nothing sucks worse than losing a guy to a torn ACL before he can score you one point.
