football_scooter 0 Posted July 13, 2006 the skinnies' defense was picked a while back by " my dixie weekend " oops...not sure how I missed that. my bad. I'll change now. I have to say that it's pretty lame for solo to take a D/ST right after I missed on one that was taken already - the post was up by Clash stating he had the one I picked and I was still WELL within my 12 hours. Seeing as the Seachickens were next on my list, I give solo a big for that cheap move. how about the Donkeys? Anyone got them? Oh, and the reason my page by page search didn't produce a result on the Redskins D/ST is because they were listed as the "Deadskins" when picked, which foiled my search. Because it wasn't my fault I should be awarded the Seahawks since solo picked out of turn knowing I had to re-pick. But it's a D and I don't care, so whatever. It's still a cheap move. Steel City Blues 0 Posted July 14, 2006 believe me, he did you a favor. Mocking the 223rd pick of our draft? The FF gods smile upon leauges with members who mock at such depth. Personally, I'm going to draft players that shouldn't be drafted with my next two picks. Not that I haven't already stooped that low. Madness...madness...method...madness...madness.... SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Here's my point to mocking a rookie TE with a 19th or 20th round pick when there are no clear needs on a team........draft a RB already. Take a flier on ANY RB. A starter may get hurt between now and the start of the season, and it may be that 19th round flier that pans out. Im not mentioning names here, so I wont violate the creed, but why not? So, a rookie TE in the 19th round instead of a potential starting RB? Im not being very seriously critical.....just making a basic point. Fact is, rookie TEs simply dont do squat.....except on Superbowl Champion teams with QBs who go 14-0 their rookie seasons..............

Steel City Blues 0 Posted July 14, 2006 did you NOT read what I wrote? dig up some #s on rookie TEs that produce.....then we'll talk. And Ill dig up some #s on FWP from last year.............talk to me. Kellen Winslow JR 5 receptions for 50 yards Project his stats from his first game over a season & he would have had 624 yards as a rookie TE. You could argue his numbers should get better after his 1st game. Cmon, a guy doesn't peak on his first try. Let's say he improved a marginal 33% plus catch a TD here & there. That's 64 receptions for 830 yards and 8 TDs in his rookie year!!! That's an average of 12+ ppg. Compare him to FWP as a rookie? OK. FWP had 186 yards rushing & 16 yards receiving NO TDs over 8 games. 2.5 ppg average. Next!
football_scooter 0 Posted July 14, 2006 With this being the scoring system for D's, Im not too sure why so many have already gone off the bored: Sack (1) Interception (1) Fumble Recovery (1) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6) Points Allowed 0 points (6) Points Allowed 1-6 points (0) Points Allowed 7-13 points (0) Points Allowed 14-20 points (0) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (0) Points Allowed 35+ points (0) It's all relative. We're in the 18th round..kickers are even more worthless, so I figured I'd grab a BYE week D...and they're so hit & miss anyway that either could be my starting defense...who knows. But D's still do score points, and since they're all scored the same, might as well hve two decent ones. Even with low scoring, D's will still put up points, and better D's will put up more points than bad D's. The difference between the #1 fantasy kicker and the #20 fantasy kicker from 2002-2005 was about 20 points, or 1.x points per game. Good defenses gets sacks, force turnovers, score TDs. While I still let them slide for 16-18 rounds, it's worth it to grab a good one.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Scooter, where are you coming up with the K data? Feely or Rackers, take your pick depending on the scoring system, were #1 in most leagues at around 160-165pts. Todd Peterson or Kris Brown, again scoring system considered, were #20 at about 110. Thats a full 50pt differential, and granted just one year, but one year is all I care to study on K data. Im just not following the math......not that its very relevant at all because obviously not many people are drafting #2 kickers........

jocstrap 8 Posted July 14, 2006 So I picked Bennett right before hold-my-joc and now I got Marcedes before ellison SWEET Just made my weekend better Yes Yes - I had bennett circled and was ready to scoop him up . How about a trade Deshaun for Bennett . Maybe a two man swap so I could possibly upgrade my receiver corps!
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted July 14, 2006 The posts today are filled with tension. This should be a great league! Joc, stop looking for receivers, maybe I could help you out a few games into the season. I fully expect somebody to be punched in the face (in front of the wife and kids) because of a league dispute this season!
SoloMatisse 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Just so we all understand our D/ST and Kicker scoring systems, let me illustrate....... the #1 D/ST this year will put up #s along these lines......... 50sacks = 50pts 20INTS = 20 pts 20 DFR = 20pts 2 Safeties = 4pts 5 DTDs = 30pts.....which Totals about 124pts. This is the #1 D/ST forecast in this system and its forecast 22pts HIGHER than what the #1 D/ST did in this system last season. By comparison, the #1 Kicker this year will score along these lines......... 18FGs < 40yds = 54pts 8FGs 40-49yds = 32pts 4FGs > 50yds = 20pts 40XPs = 40pts....................which Totals about 146 pts. This is the #1 Kicker forecast, and its exactly 19pts BELOW what the #1 Kicker did in this system last season. You can all do the math. I wouldnt recommend drafting 2 of either right now......thats what the waiver wire is for.... but those are personal choices, so to each his own. But I wanted to lay out what the scoring totals of these top position players can expect to look like at the end of the year. Great draft thus far, fellas. Im lovin' the late round picks. Good luck to everyone finishing up and beyond.

Tht's why I looked at the 3 year average when I crunched those numbers. And if you look at those 3 years, another interesting thing pops out...the top 10 each year has 80% turnover. So good luck picking that magic kicker. Better grab 3 or 4 of 'em to make sure. lol

Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Scooter - regarding the WCOFF.....so the entry fee is 100 bucks right? And does anyone who wants to play get in? I know it is late for this year but I am thinking for next year.....also, you have to fly to Vegas or ATLC on your own dime right for the draft???

My two local leagues are $100...why would I fly to Vegas to draft a $100 team? And yes - airfare is not included. Room+airfare+entry totalled $2k all told. Win your 12 man team in 13 weeks (playoffs/championship weeks 12-13) and you win$6K Advance to the finals round (all 70 league winners, and 35 league runners up with the most points) and you have a shot at $200,000 for 1st, $45,000 for 2nd, then cash prizes down to 15th or so. http://www.wcoff.com

Ah - you guys still think Boldin is going to out produce Foster in points in our league???? I could have had the 8th best wr or a top 10 rb for my 3rd . I told you before and I'll tell you again, I drew my line at #7 period in the wr category - if Owens, Moss, Fitz, Cj, Holt, Harrison, Smith were still available I was for sure 100% guaranteed taking them - end of discussion. What if boldin was gone? should I have taken Darrell Jackson because he is next in line? That was my battle line and I was sticking with it. In Joc's opinion - (and that's all that I care about) - I BELIEVE (can't guarantee) that Foster will outproduce Boldin! And.....if Boldin does catch 322 balls for 2369 yards and 42 td's - who is going to throw those passes to him? My Qb Ifffff.. Boldin has the worst season of all time because his qb get's injured, well I still have Carr! That's it, no more explaining why I did not choose Boldin. I like the conversation though, and I promise I don't get mad over the discussion. I just realize it takes a few times to get it through to the mentally slow fantasy football players.
