kiwimango 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Listening to Mike & Mike in the morning 1050AM (NY) and they are talking to Cowher and they said that this just came across the wire that Santonio Holmes was arrested for domestic abuse! Is this accurate and if so can we trade him now for someone with better sense and morals, doesnt seem to fit the STEELER STYLE? http://www.wpxi.com/news/9389424/detail.ht...s=burg&psp=news

Franknbeans 46 Posted June 19, 2006 yes, it is out there now and he's a dolt. Looks bad for the Steelers brass spending a 1st on this loser. Immediate doghouse, do not pass go.

Parja 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Two arrests in the last month. Gotta try and keep up with Chris Henry I guess. Yeah, but it's gonna be tough to beat providing alcohol to a 15, 16, and 18 year old.
Bandits47 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Yeah, but it's gonna be tough to beat providing alcohol to a 15, 16, and 18 year old. It's early yet....he may still be able to top that
Parja 0 Posted June 19, 2006 It's early yet....he may still be able to top that Oh yeah, there's definitely still time. Maybe it was his mama he beat. I think that would rank right up there.

mggoilers 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Maybe it's a false accusation. At least he's ok. It's not like he was going back to the old stomping grounds and got shot in the A$$. Now the Steelers have another reason to lowball him in negotiations. In other news Steelers fans, when Holmes was arrested police said he was smart enough to wear a helmet. Hurry up training camp, because the trouble always begin when these guys have too much time on their hands.
shovelheadt 71 Posted June 19, 2006 Just don't understand what gets into these dudes once they get drafted. I don't remember ever hearing about Holmes having problems at OSU. Same thing with Henry. He had a deal where he flipped off the crowed, but nothing remotely close to what's been happening over the past year.
What is the deal? 1 Posted June 19, 2006 Looks bad for the Steelers brass spending a 1st on this loser. what about me spending my 1.10 rookie pick on Holmes looks like I should have gone w/ Norwood or Drew

I thought I read there were red flags all over Henry when drafted, but could be wrong. As far as Holmes I heard nothing bad I can think of.

Miller_Time_21 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Sure, we have Chris Henry available, I'm sure we could work something out! LMAO!! I'll be honest, I did not. I never heard of any discipline problems with him at OSU. I always liked him a lot there, was pissed when the Steelers took him, now I find it funny as hell that they did. But nope, didn't see this one coming at all. Just think, he has another 5 months and 2 arrests to catch up with henry!

kiwimango 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Well, give us a summary of the Cowher discussion, what was his reaction to Holmes and what did Cowher say about his other genius with the new face? It was really crazy, because they started the conversation off talking about the New EA Sports football game and then when they talked about Ben, Cowher really sounded like in his discussions with Ben that it was a life changing experience for Ben. He also said that he wants Ben to continue to be the FREE SPIRIT that he is becuase that is how he go to where is his and that the motorcycle will no longer be an issue. Then they talked about how things have changed and all of a sudden, they interrupted him and told him about the breaking news about Holmes. When that happened, he said he heard about it and that he couldnt comment on it because he didnt have enough info yet, but the tone in his voice changed as if his starting LB just got a 15 yard penalty and cost his team a 1st down. He was none too happy.

steelerblitz 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Focking Patriots: Maroney AND Jackson.......... The Steelers traded up for this moron. He better step up. This offseason has not been too bright. Could have kept our spot and got Jackson.....then maybe traded up in the second to get White...hindsite sucks...lol

He had a deal where he flipped off the crowed, but nothing remotely close to what's been happening over the past year. I think most of it has to do with the "big pay day". Relatives seeing what kind of piece they can get. If they don't like it I guess Family Feud 2006 breaks out. Total shame that these deadbeats try to "skate" their way into the life of the families famous athlete. Then again, they could just be a-holes.
DaveJ 0 Posted June 20, 2006 In all fairness to these guys.... and this may offend any number of people around here, but all these troubles these guys have are directly related to their upbringings. A lot of these guys came up in areas where run ins with the law were no big deal. Some have managed to avoid trouble before, lets face it, college and HS athletes often get their troubles thrown out... but once they become adults it changes, add to that the press is now paying attention to them. The smart ones change their ways, the dumb ones continue as they have in the past and eventually the percentages catch up to them and they get nailed. Someone put it simply when discussing Pacman.... you can take the thug out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the thug.
Dan 66 Posted June 20, 2006 Just as a note, the Post-Gazette is reporting that he has pled not guilty to this latest charge. I realize that this does not make him innocent, but the scrutiny that he faces in the public eye because he is an athlete of no small distinction often sidesteps the detail of proof before guilt is established. Court date is yet to be determined. If he's guilty, he's guilty, and bears the responsibility of dealing with public chastisement. But we could, in fact, be a bit premature, and it would constitute a little egg on the face if the details don't bear out the accusation.
