parrot 789 Posted September 11, 2017 Harvey dumped 5 times the amount of rain on Houston as Katrina dumped on NOLA. Wasn't the big problem with Katrina storm surge moreso than rain? And the fact that much of NOLA is actually below sea level?

BunnysBastatrds 1,960 Posted September 11, 2017 Wasn't the big problem with Katrina storm surge moreso than rain? And the fact that much of NOLA is actually below sea level? The problem was our levees were poorly built and maintained by the federal government. Had the levees stayed intact, Katrina wouldn't have been such a major catastrophe for New Orleans. Mississippi was actually hit the hardest. The storm surge came miles inland.
