UPDATE: Bad Headache-- 52 hours now

Recommended Posts

Starting around 10:00 a.m. yesterday and still going strong right now.

yesterday I took 4 aspirin, 4 extra stregth excedrin and 4 tylenol. None of those made any difference before I finally called it a day around 7:00 p.m.

I slept through the night, but still had it this morning when I woke up around 5:30 a.m. Today I have taken 5 Migrazone and don't think it is safe for me to take any more of those. I had them left over from a concussion about 2 years ago.

The pain is mainly on the right side of my head, hurts worse when I move around.

I am starting to wonder if I am havin an aneurysm or something, but it seems like it would be worsening instead of remaining static. It has not worsened since yesterday, but has not improved.

Go see a doctor immediately.

Agreed. Don't blow this off.....could be a minor stroke.

Does sound important. If you've never had a headache that localized (or don't have them often in general), then even more so. Aspirin and tylenol never work for me, but Ibuprofen does a lot of the time. I'd reccomend that, but due to how long you've had it, at least call an advice nurse.

Stroke? I'm only 32 years old!

Does it seem relevant that this is basically up the right side of the back of my neck and into my right temple? Left side of head & neck are doing peachy.

Drink water, you might be dehydrated, lay off the soft drinks. On a side note, I've been getting migraines for the past month. I've had 3, and I've never had them in my life. Also I have a few friends going through the same thing. Could be sinuses.

Do you wear glasses or contacts?

Do you have neck or back problems?

Any undue stress lately?

Change of eating habits?

Go to the doctor.

A couple of weekends ago, I had a headache similar to what you describe. Nothing helped, not even the painkillers I was on from my back surgery. eventually got so bad, I became naseous as well.

After about 7 hours of this, went to the emergency room. Turns out, I had some spinal fluid leakage which caused all the symptoms. Needed mprphine to take care of the headache and another drug for the nausea.

Now, I am not saying you have a spinal fluid leak, only that your symptoms could be representative of another issue.

How does one "fix" spinal fluid leakage? :argue: :o

I've had a headache for two weeks, I think cause I have neck tension, actually my neck and head always hurt, I'm used to it now...you will be too :argue:

Thats cuz you have big boobies. That puts tension on your spine, resulting in a headache.

I always thought it was because of all the head I gave back in High School, but that's a good reason too :o

Go to a doctor :argue:

I work with a 34-year old woman that recently had a stroke. It could also be your blood pressure spiking/dropping.

Go see a doctor.

The fact that it is only affecting one side makes it even more likely that it's a minor stroke (although still highly unlikely)

How does one "fix" spinal fluid leakage? :headbanger:

To be honest, I dont know. All I know is that your spine is surrounded by fluid and any time you have an operation on it, there is typically some that can leak into your bloodstream. Apparently, this is what happend to me. Doc said no surgery is required to fix it, at least in my case.

I'd go to bed, try to get some sleep. If you wake up in the morning, definitely see a doctor.

Take a hot bath, then wrap a hot towel around your head.

Since my head was always hot when i had a headache, i always put a cold rag over the top of my head/face and slept.....doesnt always take it away but it definately helps.

44 hours and counting. Weird, huh?

I'll go jogging tonight after work and see if that weakens it.

Seriously, go to the doctor, ER, urgent care, etc.

24 hrs. I can understand blowing off but 44?!?! Pain within the most critical organ of your body is not somethig to brush off. Especially when it is centralized within one area of your brain.

First, a girl I went to high school with had a series of strokes before our 10 year reunion.

Second, that sounds pretty much like my tension headaches. Except mine sometimes end behind my eye. When I first started getting them, it would hurt to even close my eyes or move them. I waited six months before I went in to see what was up. I still get them now. They start in my shoulder and move up my neck to my head.

If you're worried though, get it checked out ASAP.

And they were diagnosed as "tension headaches"?

Why is that so hard to believe?

Migraine Headaches

Sinus Headaches

Cluster Headaches

Tension Headaches

All of them suck.

I've had headaches for weeks at a time when stress was bad. Is there anything stressing you out?

Sorry MK, maybe the run will help.

Last month my husband had the mother of all headaches for a week, accompanied by vomiting and hearing loss. He finally went to the ER thinking there could be a tumor/anyuerism (sp) but the CAT scan showed nothing and they treated it as a migraine. It did go away with the medication he got, but with that he got a dose of infection from the IV, and ended up in ICU for 8 days with pulmonary embolism that nearly killed him.

Go to a doc. Better safe than sorry.
