It's a real 180 turn around facing the A's than facing the Yankees. I have nothing but respect and admiration for this A's team. I like how they play ball. It''s upsetting how they always get picked apart by the wealthier teams stealing their stars yet they keep perservering and playing good ball.

Soon Zito will be wearing a Yankees uniform or some cr@p. Oakland has been serving as a farm club for the rich teams. It's part of why MLB focking sucks and needs a salary cap. But Oakland is one of the good guys.

Props to the team and their fans for overcoming the obstacles and being here. I will enjoy watching this series. Either way, we'll have a very deserving champion coming out of the AL this year. I hope of course Detroit eliminates the A's but if the A's win, I won't hold it against them, I'll be rooting for them in the World Series.

Good Luck.

What is this, reverse psychology or something? The A's can burn in Helsinki for all I care. :dunno: No really, I respect that team as well. They manage to stay competitive year after year and seem to be able to do it from within the organization which tells me that it's run the right way.

Hopefully there won't be any bats flung at Tiger's pitchers circa 1972.

i feel the same way about the tigers.

it's great to see good baseball being played in that town again. and it's a tough deal that we'll have to face up against moneyball's own jeremy bonderman.

and i've got a great deal of respect for leyland.

Unfortunately, I believe the Tigers will lose game 1 to Zito 4-2. However, I think the rest of the series really favors Detroit in the potential pitching matchups.

I'll take that luck with Mags but it's too bad about Guillen. He was the ideal guy to have up in that situation and he could have blown the game open early but Zito is making him look silly so far tonight.

Zito's movement on pitches is pretty impressive.

Was hoping for more in the top of the 3rd, but two is good. Beating Zito will be critical. Oakland's chances go down greatly if they don't win the games this guy pitches. GB Nate, escaping trouble each inning.

The A's missing some chances early on could spell disaster when it'S ZUUUUUUMAYA TIME!

Wow, now Brandon Inge is having a good day too. Looks like everybody can be a hero in the playoffs.

On another note...holy crap the A's offense makes A-Rod look clutch.

Earlier this year people would say Monroe was a liability in left. I’ve seen him make some sweet plays

Nate umm stop getting in these jams ok

Actually I think he should just intentionally walk the first two batters of every inning. Then promptly allow the A's to get themselves out. So far, it's working.

he's fine, I think he is Big Steving it though. Bad jumps that end up looking sweet when they could have been easier

I'm a bit worried and need somebody to explain something to me. After Casey's at bat, at the start of this 6th inning, according to ESPN gamecast, Guillen moved to first base and Santiago is playing short.

SOmebody please tell me either the site is mistaken or why this occured. (Obviously, I'm worried he hurt himself). Thanks.

Rodney picks up the heart attack shutout right where Robertson left off. This may well be the first 10 hit shutout I've ever heard of.

When he hit the ball he took one step out of the batter's box and stopped. Upon viewing the replay, his calf muscle seemed to snap like a rubber band up and then violently back down. He limped into the dugout. It doesn't look good.

The Tigers have been really fortunate with the injuries. Maroth, Young, Polanco this year have been the big ones. A's certainly have theirs as do the Mets. The way you decribe it, it's probably season ending.

Initial report on Casey was a severe muscle spasm. They are icing it down and will probably be day to day. That could be very good news.

Stop looking at his crotch. We're talking about his leg.

That’s a bit different then a muscle snapping. I guess faux now has x-ray cameras trained on each player

Just saying the only thing you see is his pant leg flapping around. These announcers are morons

This is a big relief. Hopefully it is minor and just day-to-day. Any more updates guys, please post them. Thanks.

J. Kendal safe at first on error by first baseman C. Guillen.

 I see this injury is already paying dividends.

 It clearly looked like to me that his muscle clenched up charley horse fashion. It definitely seemed like the muscle moving and not his uni to me. Two different perceptions I guess but Casey acted as if he hit a brick wall one step out of the batters box.

Bad last hop for Carlos. He could have still have easily made the play after booting it but he panicked and dropped the ball again when he tried to pick up the boot. Thank god he can hit because his fielding has been very suspect all of a sudden this year.
