** Official Detroit Tigers 2006 American League Champs **

 It clearly looked like to me that his muscle clenched up charley horse fashion. It definitely seemed like the muscle moving and not his uni to me. Two different perceptions I guess but Casey acted as if he hit a brick wall one step out of the batters box.

Just saying it's hard to see through his pants legs. Also if something snapped he wouldn't be walking on it.

I know it's the southern drawl and all, but Lou really sounds like a focking retard

eiher the news of torre staying has lou drinking himself into a coma because he cant stand joe buck..who can?

or the yankees are listening to pinella and thinking..while he WOULD make the locker room interesting.. the base throwing and gum chewing tirades...the many wild quotes in the press..maybe we dont need that headache as well...

This is great. Like I said earlier, since Zito is the nastiest pitcher on this team, getting a W on his watch is big. Hopefully Casey is OK.

of course there's a long way to go and oakland's a great team--despite their uncharacteristic defensive play tonight--the really great thing is that the tigers essentially started their #4 starter tonight and stole game one.

now, they throw an even better pitcher than robertson out there in game 2 in verlander and then an even better pitcher in game 3 in rogers (at least the way he's currently pitching). and then there's bonderman.

encouraging if you're a tiger fan.

that said, it's going to be tough, of course. but the matchups on paper do favor the tigers from here on out.

man, i'm just enjoying the ride. whodda thunk this?!! god, this is so great to be watching them in the acls right now--no matter what happens :D

this did not go as i wished.

zito had some great stuff, even when inge hit his dong...but he lost it and got rattled. the bullpen showed its value, but the offense couldn't get past its propensity for hitting into the dp.

solid detroit pitching, as usual. and when robertson got out of that inning with 2 on and 3 straight k's...wow, just wow.

Do you think of Nate as the #4 starter? I have full confidence in him. Then again, I'm not watching each game, I'm overseas and miss a lot. To me it's essentially a 4 way tie for #1. Granted, Nate's W/L record is significantly worse than the others but that less a reflection of him than it is about the p*ss poor run support he seems to have gotten all year. Verlander may be the best one, but he gets babied more -pulled earlier, skipped starts- since he's a rookie and Leyland doesn't want to burn him out by overworking him.

According not just to Jim Leyland's words but his actions, that's how he sees it too. He says he doesn't number his pitchers. I read about the 'controversy' of starting Nate in these series, but I didn't ever feel it personally. It seems pretty natural to let them keep going in this order.

i don't think there's a huge dropoff between any 2 tiger starters...but yes, i do view robertson as their #4 starter.

but that's just me.

Unfortunately, I believe the Tigers will lose game 1 to Zito 4-2. However, I think the rest of the series really favors Detroit in the potential pitching matchups.

This guy is clueless.

Bring on Game 2.

Why isn't Leyland playing Babe Shelton at first base? Putting Guillen on first means Perez is playing at short stop. That guy does not even deserve to be on the team. Cubbie fans gave me a lot of grief when the Tigers picked him up.

Shelton is just as bad as Neifi, Infante or Ramon should be playing.

At the end of the season shelton had no clue what was going on all mental. he'd take the 1st pitch no matter what, swing at the 2nd pitch, and then tke or sing babdly at the 3rd... I think he is done unles she can get his mond straight.

Anyways.. NEIFI FOCKING PEREZ THIS GUY IS USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a waste of a roster spot. This clown better not make an error, and better turn every DP.

I hate Neifi

Also thers is no way the Tigers win with Neifi Perez playing. Verlander should be pissd

leyland making all the wrong moves today

#1 Playing Perez

#2 Playing Perez at #3 spot

#3 Moving the infield in with one out in the 1st and a man on 3rd... Egg Head would have caught the ball on the fly..

The Tigers aren't a very deep team. They kind of scrape by. Fortunatly there haven't been too many bad injuries and none affecting the playoff roster (maybe Maroth is a carryover if Leyland felt he wasn't all the way back). Oakland has their own injuries too. Just have to carry on.

They're saying Casey may miss ten days. That's not too bad. If his recovery is quick, maybe he can even return late in this series.

I think they are pretty deep unless you are comparing them to the Yankees. I mean a couple of these A's I have never even heard of.. :dunno:

Its just Neifi Perez blows so it makes us look like crap

ETA How focking hard is it to say Monroe???

MAON ROW :dunno:

I don't know enough about Neifi to have an opinion on him, but I don't like what I'm hearing here. And the dude is batting second.

Sweet Polanco gets to hit with the bases empty every focking at bat.. Nice managing skip

Well, he's 0-3 so far with a K. Leyland's been getting production from odd sources all postseason. Seems like this move didn't pay off. During the regular season, he was more apt to put Infante in when Polanco went down.

Anywys, hopefully this is the last we see of him.

I guess we can officially call the Gomez at DH move a success. It offsets the Naifi at SS move. Tigers should have this game locked now.

The ump behind the plate in the first two games buhlows. Inconsistent strike zone at best.

They only went with one first baseman for the playoff roster (Casey) which is why they have to use Guillen at first.

Rodney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fans the side, what a nasty change up that guy has, and he can come back with a high 90s fast ball. All he needs to work on is his consistency.

Nice to see Street give up a homer. Maybe we can get in his head.

Yessir....and ESPN rated their bullpens EVEN!!! Are you f-in kidding me??? The As has a solid bullpen, but, the Tigers can bring out, what, 4 or 5 dominant pitchers that that have under 4 ERAs. We are finding out power pitching is the key in the playoffs, what an incredible staff the Tigers have, and all the guys in their are young(expect for Jones, of course).

Well that works. But it was much scarier than it needed to be at the end.

Feeling good. Sucks to be Oakland right about now. They're gonna have to get real hot real fast.

Fock all. Frank Thomas of all people with the bases loaded down by three, two outs in the ninth, and Jones not having his best stuff. It was all set up to be the most memorable at bat in Oakland history. A swing to purge the for ghosts of Gibson/Eckersley for A's fans from so many years ago.

Oh well, sucks to be them.
