I'm almost sick that I didn't take Fla Atl +9 for the hedge when I had the chance. Instead, grabbed +6 and a few bucks on ML +320 so at least the final 30 seconds of the game were exciting! Having the +6 at least allowed me to clear a little more of my bonuses. If I have to look at the glass half-full, at least I didn't get greedy and put more money on ULL when it was -7.5 for almost 2:1 odds. You seem to have a knack for real-time betting. I did OK a few weeks ago, but it's been one disappointment after another.

Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted October 19, 2006 You guys got to ease up on this midweek crap. The games suck and the lines have sucked. The Shepherd 10 Posted October 19, 2006 Philly, don't be down - the fact is that sometimes that's the way the elongated spheroid bounces, just the luck, or lack of it. The point is, you do very astute, thorough analysis that everyone with half a nat's brain on this site appreciates. Keep it up, and dump the slump talk - your analysis is nigh perfect. TimmySmith 2,782 Posted October 19, 2006 i can't agree with the ku pick. you've got a big strength in baylors passing game going against a horrendous weakness in ku's passing def. i think baylor, despite their loss last week to texas, has a lot of momentum going right now and ku is absolutely reeling. plus, ku is rotten on the road in the big 12. this game probably will be close, but i dont think 3.5 is enough for a ku side. i'm on baylor -3 right now (got it earlier in the week). did you know if baylor beats kansas this week that they will be tied for worst conf record since the big 12 began? I really don't cap games so much as I look at certain criteria. Then when a game fits I dig a little deeper. You obviously seem to know about these two teams, whereas I really don't know much about either. On the surface Kansas is a much more complete offensive team, especialy running. They have played 2 roadies this year and lost both in OT. If they had won both they would be top 25. Last 2 tough losses to uber quality opponents. They seem to play to the level of their competition. Baylor is all over the map, good team, but completely inconsistent. Also coming off of two tough games, I look for a letdown at home. My feeling is that on a neutral field Kansas is far superior, getting 3.5 is great value. We'll see.

Art, I know you've heard this from me COUNTLESS times before, but Olympic Sportsbook has the sides, totals, and quarter lines of pretty much every Division I-A game there is (including the Hawaii game). They are also a bit slower to adjust to gameday reactions (heavy money on a side, weather, etc.) And for the true degenerates: live in-game betting for select games. Swanny1981 0 Posted October 19, 2006 Wow, what a brutal game to watch last night. It was like a minor league college football game. Too bad ULL's kicker couldn't just make us happy and make the easy field goal. Is it harassment to email him and ask him what happened? Gotta keep on rolling. Tonight: Virigina -6 3 Units Long story short; Virginia is on the up and up, Carolina is going nowhere but down. I finally can play a team who is playing at home. I've had this game marked since Monday morning, and added a unit today. I smell a 10+ point victory by Virginia here, led by their 2 dimensional quarterback Jameel Sewell. Offense has matured the past few weeks. Even I-AA team Furman had no trouble moving the ball on Carolina. Come on, the Furman Paladins put up 43 points against them. What the hell is a paladin? Carolina's senior linebacker who leads the team in tackles is out for the game too. Carolina hasn’t won in Scott Stadium since 1981. Carolina has all but given up, fans were calling for the coaches resignation last week. All signs point to a Cavalier cover. Crack open a beer, sit back, relax and make a few bucks. Go Cavs! GiantsRule 0 Posted October 19, 2006 I'm kind of torn: On one hand, Ditka, who is a major reason I have done so well this season, has said it's foolish to bet on any of the mid-week games this week because there is no real value. On the other hand, I'm in a riduculous slump and desperate to get some of my winnings back and the VA-backers seem so sure. One thing's for certain: I'm beginning to feel like whatever I do, the opposite will happen. If I take VA, they won't cover; if I sit out, they'll cover easily and I'll be kicking myself for not taking advantage. Ah, the gambler's paradox.

Centr Mich is 7-0 ATS this year, 11-2-1 ATS in their last 14 games. They are 4-0 in conference games, cruising towards the division win and playing in the MAC championship game this year. And I have been betting on them most of the year. They certainly got my attention in their first game of year, going toe to toe with Boston College, losing by 7 in a closely contested game. After losing to Michigan, Centr Mich has won 5 of their last 6 games. The only loss was to Kentucky on the road, where CM outgained Kentucky 558 to 373, yet lost the game. But that game seemed to spring board Central Mich a bit, since they played that game with some significant injuries, and they bounced back to blow out Toledo at Toledo and beat Ball St last week, both double digit wins. Now, Toledo has been a dominant home team for many years, so beating them by 22 in the Glass Bowl is a bit surprising. Then holding the excellent offense of Ball St to only 7 points last week was a very good defensive effort. Centr Mich only scored 18 points last week (3 TDs, no conversions), but they were plagued by a ridiculous amount of penalties, which killed drives over and over and over again. I expect a better mental effort tonight. The Central Mich QB has gone 61-97 for 826 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT in the last 3 games. Central Mich has lost the last 5 matchups between these two teams, and will be playing with meaningful revenge. Bowling Green is in rebuilding mode, with 25 freshmen making contributions on the playing field, but is surprisingly 3-1 in the MAC. The problem is that they lost to first place Kent, and trail by a game and a half. It’s going to be hard to catch them. They are no longer the aerial assault offense led by Omar Jacobs, but are now a running team, and they are doing it pretty well, 16th nationally. And Bowling Green is a much better team with QB Turner under center, as he has had injury issues this year. Central Mich has been on a roll this year, and seems to me to be the more impressive team this year, not necessarily statistically, but by effort on the field. I feel that Centr Mich has played a tougher schedule so far. Since playing Boston College and Michigan, they have averaged over 406 yards of offense per game. They have held all of their MAC opponents to 21 points or less, and if they do so tonight, they should probably win and cover. Lay the lumber. Utah Utah is seeing 59% of the action UT averages 4.2 ypr vs teams that allow 3.8 ypr UT completes 51.2% of passes vs teams that allow 57.9% UT averages 5.1 yards per play vs teams that allow 5.4 UT allows 3.1 ypr vs teams that average 3.7 ypr UT allows 57.6% passes to be completed by teams that average 61.1% UT allows 4.7 yards per play vs teams that average 5.0 NM averages 2.7 ypr vs teams that allow 3.7 NM completes 49.3% passes vs teams that allow 61.0% NM averages 4.6 yards per play vs teams that allow 5.4 NM allows 3.3 ypr vs teams that average 3.6 ypr NM allows 61.0% passes to be completed by teams that average 61.9% NM allows 5.0 yards per play vs teams that average 5.4 Utah is a bit of disappointment this year, but are still good enough to earn a bowl bid. Their offense has been shaky vs very good defenses, and the Utah defense has been pretty good most of the year. The three good defense that Utah faced, UCLA, Boise St, and Wyoming, all three defenses are among the best in the nation, have shut down the Utah offense. But in all games vs mediocre to poor defense, Utah’s offense has played well, won, and covered the spread, winning each game by 45-7, 48-0, 38-7, and 20-7 (over TCU). So is this New Mexico team closer to UCLA, Boise St and Wyoming, or closer to Northern Arizona, Utah St, San Diego St, and TCU. I say the later. The New Mexico is rebuilding this year, losing their QB, RB, and top WR from last year, so as a result, the offense is pretty dam bad. Awful production, awful stats. They haven’t topped 280 yards of offense in their last 5 games, and that 280 game went to overtime. Most of their scoring and/or scoring opportunities have been a direct result of turnovers. The offensive line isn’t getting any push, and the running game is mostly non-existent. The QB is shaky. I don’t see them scoring much against the solid Utah defense. New Mexico is only 1-3 SU at home this year. To me, this looks like another very beatable opponent for Utah, which has lost consecutive conference games only once since 2002. I like Utah to win comfortably. Lay the lumber.
Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted October 19, 2006 Seriously I wouldn't lay the lumber on any of these games tonight. Utah is not the program that it once was. New Mexico could hang in for a while tonight. Virginia has had some ridiculous scoring droughts this year where they couldn't trip and make a first down. And they are poorly coached IMO. North Carolina sucks in every way. Central Michigan/Bowling Green is actually the best play to handicap tonight and they are the lesser known schools. Bowling Green has very little experience and no depth. Central Michigan has been great ATS. If someone forced me to play tonight I would look at: Central Michigan and the under Virginia and the under Utah Good luck all!
