Vikings4ever 550 Posted April 18, 2007 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070418/ap_on_...e7C18wkKnHMWM0F The debate over whether global warming affects hurricanes may be running into some unexpected turbulence. Many researchers believe warming is causing the storms to get stronger, while others aren't so sure. Now, a new study raises the possibility that global warming might even make it harder for hurricanes to form.
Snoopy1 0 Posted April 18, 2007 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070418/ap_on_...e7C18wkKnHMWM0F Ummm, those are two different trains of thought there, buckaroo, that don't necessarily contradict each other.
lennie75 0 Posted April 18, 2007 Ummm, those are two different trains of thought there, buckaroo, that don't necessarily contradict each other. Huh!! All people who are spreading the GW paranoia are saying it causes extreme weather. We went over this yesterday. So, if this is being provento the contrary...maybe we don't know everythign about GW that we thought. I think people just need to realize that!! Now if you want to claim that we should do all this great tree hugger stuff just incase...I'll agree with you. But, anyone that states that they know 100% that global warming is man made or even over 50% you are lying to yourself!!!
IAMWood 6 Posted April 18, 2007 yeah, we have had so few less hurricanes the last few years and the ones we have had have been so weak.

KSB2424 3,148 Posted April 18, 2007 yeah, we have had so few less hurricanes the last few years and the ones we have had have been so weak. I actually think Hurricanes have been down on average the past few years. The devastation of Katrina had more too due with the breaking of the levies than the actual force of the Hurricane. We get Hurricanes as strong as Katrina on the east coast all the time that don't cause flooding like in N.O. Just because Hurricanes effected your neck of the woods recently, doesn't mean that they have not been around in abundance for years.

lennie75 0 Posted April 18, 2007 someone google a list, i don't have time global warming freaks were calling for the worst hurricane season ever last year...didn't happen
Saint Elistan 106 Posted April 18, 2007 Global Warming happens. It happened before humans walked the Earth...it will happen after we become extinct. Sure, maybe we've accelerated the process. We've focked shiat up, but who cares? An Ice Age is coming. We're focked. We're all going to die. We're but an eyelash on Earth's time line. It's the same reason I eat what I want and don't give a shiat about how soon I'm going to have a heart attack. Why waste my time here trying to prolong my stay? The temperature variations of the last 400000 years.
Cruzer 1,995 Posted April 18, 2007 global warming freaks were calling for the worst hurricane season ever last year...didn't happen nope, but what we did get was one of the harshest winters parts of the country have seen in years.
BMoney 0 Posted April 18, 2007 they pointed out a year ago that we would be in an el nino pattern all the way into this May.... i find it odd that its never mentioned...just global warming..or where IS global warming? our weather is going to be severe here til may....we knew that.. someone at the nightly news pieces will do yet ANOTHER story on this..and a wetaher channel guy will come on and say....global warming?.... um..its been el nino.... ahhhh

The temperature variations of the last 400000 years. I didn't realize they had thermometers back then. Don't mention them in the bible. Fahrenheit one of Noah's boys? Global warming is tough. Hell maybe all the CO2 we are causing is nullifying and ice age..., oceans are depleting rapidly, The Matrix pretty much hit the nail on the head when it was said that humans are a virus. There have been more hurricanes in recent years than there ever have been on record. Cyclical, maybe, bad luck, maybe, global warming maybe... get hit by a bus tommorrow maybe... GobbleDog 996 Posted April 18, 2007 you do realize that ZERO hit the US last year, don't you? Yep... and Florida is in a horrible drought right now. We actually need more hurricanes!!!

nobody 2,666 Posted April 19, 2007 Vecchi and Soden used 18 complex computer climate models to anticipate the effects of warming in the years 2001-2020 and 2018-2100. And here's why people don't know sh¡t. See all these wonderful conclusions everyone is coming too. Guess what? They are only as good as these models, and I don't care how complex his 18 models are. I guarantee you they are sh¡tty models.
indybearsfan 0 Posted April 19, 2007 I'm thinking their are about 15 posters in here that don't know sh1t about global warming.. an no, I aint one of them.
PackerAttacker 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Ill just mention one thing. If you know any history about the dark ages... there was a major climate shift toward the end of them that allowed people to migrate north and escape some of the constant war that was occuring. Some historians even attribute this shift to helping the renaisaince begin. My point here is that nobody was driving cars... the earth just got warmer for whatever reason. No one disputes that the earth has natural cycles of hot and cold climates. Do people think that world renowned scientist remain somehow blissfully unaware of this when they do their studies on climate? I think we could all have a better discussion on the subject if we assumed that scientist studying GW started with a basic knowledge of how the earth has worked historically, in terms of temperature. If this topic concerns you at all, just do a bit of research. If you are on the fence as to what the science is saying hit up the Google and give yourself a chance to understand. Read the science, not other peoples interpretation of the science. The reading is somewhat dry but the information is startling. And remember, not one scientific paper contradicts the reality of GW. NOT ONE!
