The other night a friend of mine was having a hard time finding a song on there so I tryed limewire and found it pretty fast. My brother told me how to disable everything so you can't be traced (forget what I did) but I've used it without problems for a while. On the other hand he stopped using it because of the IRRA crackdowns.

I use my free 2 gig allotment of newsgroup downloads every month then use bittorrent for the rest if needed.

Soulseek is great for music, esp. if you are looking for full albums and/or legal downloads. Granted the legal stuff is electronic artists you may have never heard of, but I like it fine. If you are looking for videos or whole discographies, bittorrent is the way to go.

I still haven't seen any downside to Allofmp3.com for music....can't really help you with the movies part.

It's legal...the selection is great...search function is easy...and each song costs about 20-30 cents at full 320 mB CD quality.

(I get 3-4 songs for a buck, as opposed to 1 song at itunes).

A typical full CD costs me about $2.50-$3.00 to download.

Again, maybe there are problems that I'm not aware of...but I've used it for about 2 years and so far...

:dunno:

I would never use anything illegal like that, but a friend of mine uses Limewire. I...I mean he has used it on his home and work computer for years. :dunno:

I'm hesitant to use bittorrent because its so popular and i would think that would be the place that you have the highest risk to get popped. I wouldn't want to pay for songs because i just download a bunch of songs at a time and usually only end up keeping like half of them, if that.

Does anyone know somebody who has been caught? Does it happen enough to worry about it? I downloaded ares, it seems alright for now, but i'll probably get limewire. I've heard good things about that one.

One reason why I like soulseek is you almost always get what you think you are getting. As opposed to limewire which is overrun with viruses and fakes files. It is harder to see the quality of what you are downloading with a torrent, but they still are more or less safe. It's a fine idea to run everything you download through a virus scanner before opening it.

GB China. There actually are benefits to living here. :dunno:

Just plug in the song or the artist. All free of course.
