Scooter and everyone else in the league...

 

Let's take a deep breath and hold up a sec...I know we are all anxious to get anything resembling fantasy football back in our lives but this needs to be done right. We had 12 good owners last year so since we're not starting the draft until June 23....we need to give all 12 guys who were in it last year right of first refusal UP UNTIL JUNE 23 before you start adding new people. Mobb Deep would probably make a great addition as well as other but fair is fair.....give everyone a chance before you just start promoting turnover.

 

Keep in mind...the start of the season is still 3 months away....in all honesty I'm not in "all out fantasy football mode yet" and I hadn't been visiting this site every day. I just happen by luck to check the board the day they made this thread (or a couple of days after) if not apparently I might have gotten left out in the cold as well. Solo is a long time poster on these boards and a great guy.....give him a chance to show up (people do take vacations alot in the summer) before the draft so that he can decide on his own whether he wants to do it again. That goes for ALL 12 members....and I'm fully aware one of them was Solo's friend.

 

That's no way to run a league.....the goal is to have AS LITTLE turnover as possible from year-to-year. In the meantime feel free to start making a waiting list (mobb deep, etc etc etc) in anticipation of some guys not showing...but to officially let them in at this point is ridiculous.

 

We heard from everyone on the league page and in here combined, Ace. We had 4 confirmed openings, with a maybe for the 5th. Solo should be able to get back in and I too would like to see as little turnover as possible this year. Thus far we've accepted just one new member.

hey ace...mr miami hurricanes man...you make some great points......i may have jumped the gun a little bit....

 

but i remember we began drafting in early june last year and i just assumed that was gonna be the time for it this year....i also noticed solo hasn't posted any this year and i din't want the league to die....i enjoyed the witty banter and like the group as a whole...i would have e-mailed howie's hound dogs and 20 server menace....but i saw they never posted an e-mail on yahoo!- so i have no way to contact them and i can't remember their names here-lol....if they post between now and the 23rd they can get back in...

 

meanwhile we'll just continue taking applications for the other two spots...as of today we have 2 non-returnees verified......ellison and solo.....while i would like to have them back i respect their decisons.....most leagues are going to have some turnover anyway...especially if they are free....so we have two confirmations now.....freddy d ( why not me ) and mobb_deep

 

 

so we are looking for two more and if either howie or 20 server menace post between now and the 23rd they can have their spots back of course.

 

i want the june draft to remain a staple of the league....so we can give other geeks here on fftoday a draft to peruse and analyze before their real ones in august or whatever

guys, regarding one of last year's late additions "Howie".....he's out this year. he's a close personal friend of mine, but he doesnt really spend any time online, and I was the only reason he was in last year. In the end, though he knows a little something about football, he really wasnt able to bring much to the table in terms of banter or site interaction. replace him with a much more active member this time around, and the league will rock just that much more. Ill keep checking out your threads to atleast offer any help or objective feedback if you guys feel the need. good luck getting this thing off the ground again...if I can be of any help at all let me know.......

As far as hot sauce. Brother I got you beat here as well. I am a master pepper grower. This falls batch will be something to hold. I'm growing BHUT JOLOKIA peppers this year. They are in the Guiness Book as the hottest pepper in the world. They are starting to flower now and will be putting out peppers in another month. Ye Haw.

Yeah then take a pee. That feeling lasts for hours. Lesson one learned in handling peppers. The second lesson I learned it to never ever ever saute habbies in the house. My kitchen turned into a giant pepper spray and sent the family outside packing.

 

Actually my favorite thing is dehydrate the peppers then grind them into pepper dust. I sprinkle the hot dust on anything and instant heat. I give the dust to all friends at Christmas.

1. this will be a live draft, or as close to it as we can get. No 12 hours between picks, one draft day session is what we're shooting for, Pick time limit will be more like a couple of mins. I'm thinking we could get a yahoo multi-chat going, as then we'll have a running draft record to catch duplicate picks. Unless someone can suggest a free site to draft on, in which case I'm all ears. Worst case we draft on the league page, with 2-3 mins between picks.

 

2. regarding those peppers, I am a hot sauce maker for fun, with the hopes to one day start up a small business. Ask Let Da Big Dog Eat, as he's tried a batch of my best. If you're seriously growing those peppers, send me like 18-20 of them in the mail and I will make a batch of hot sauce with them & bottle it. A couple weeks afterwards, I'll send you a couple of bottles of it (a batch is typically 16-20 bottles) - I can make a sauce that will tame them a bit so the sauce will be edible, but will also be ass kicking hot and delicious. Seriously - I'll do it at no cost to you, just because I want to experiment with my recipe to see what it will do with peppers hotter than habanero.

 

Let me know if you're down and we'll make that happen later this summer. If I'm feeling really generous with my time & $ maybe I'll send a bottle to everyone in the league.

That's fine. This years peppers are Bhut Joloka, Chocolate Habs, Red Savina, and some Purple Peruvian (sp). The purples aren't as hot as the others, but is very hot, great for cheese dipping sauce. I could send you what ever you want to try.

Proposed date is Sunday the 24th of June, if we have a full league by then. Probably do it from 5:00 PM Pacific time until completion...likely to take between 3-5 hours, depending on the method of drafting. e.g. message board draft, Yahoo draft (if they're open for drafting), etc.

 

We need to get a full league 1st though - the date's proposed, and so far so good - but I am going to try to stay flexible, because if the last few people who join can't do that time/date we'll need to pick another.

We have 11, and no one's said that time/date is bad for them, so we'll just have to hope that the 12th member is ok with it...if not, then I guess we get a different 12th member at this point.

By the way - I can either do the draft randomizer and we can all know what picks we are getting pre-draft, or I can let Yahoo randomize, which means we won't know until the day of the draft.

 

I think it will let me do a custom order...pretty sure. Let me know. If the randomizer is used, it will email out all 12 members (myself included) their draft positions.

 

Think about it and some and I'll do whatever the league consensus wants.
