remote controller 143 Posted June 12, 2007 I'm liking : - Addai/Holt - Parker/Harrison - Gore /Smith That's odd for I'm normally quite RB oriented. I am very pleased with Rudi/Reggie from my spot though. This third round will really begin the focusing process.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 12, 2007 "The Colts never had a good fantasy QB before Peyton showed up" Ever heard of this guy called Johnny U?? (granted not in Indianapolis, but he was a Colts player!) I have, and I knew that was coming... thats why i put good fantasy QB. Looking back at the numbers, Unitas had a couple decent fantasy seasons I suppose. But I wasn't really intending to talk about the history of the NFL before it... you know, became the NFL, lol.

Fumbleweed 547 Posted June 12, 2007 I don't believe Edge has ever been built for the big run. It's not his game. He's built for plowing out those 4-7 yard runs all game long. Edge had a double digit yard run in 13 of the 16 games last year, and in the other three he had 8-9 as his high. In his previous two years in Indy, he had a game long in double digits 15 of 16 times in '05 and 12 of 16 in '04. Over those two seasons, he had a total of 8 carries over 20 yards and no carries over 40. No, he did not have any over 40 or even 20 last year, but it's not like you've suddenly lost a big part of his game. As for Arizona improving on defense... it's true they were putrid last year. It's also true that they were the #8 defense the year before with no huge changes. It's fair to assume that if the offense doesn't put them in so many holes, and if they have a decent run game / OL to keep the offense on the field a bit more, they ought to be able to at least be middle of the road. Finally, over those last five December games for James, he was averaging 92.3 yards rushing and 0.6 TDs. Average that out over a season and its 1500 yards and 10 TDs. Can't tell me that's "decent #2 RB" stuff. Add in a couple TDs and you get FWP last season, and he just went #5 overall. Your statement about my theory of this being the year everything magically changes in Arizona actually couldn't be more misled. I believe very strongly that the game is won in the trenches, and that the trenches are among the best indicators of fantasy success. They helped me to tag Chester Taylor and SJax as stars last year, guys who just ran behind the right line. Arizona this offseason made absolutely huge upgrades on the OL by adding Mike Gandy and Levi Brown. They also improved with beef up the middle of the defense by adding Alan Branch and Buster Davis. It's actually those additions, plus the confidence of Leinart and the new run-o-centric and win-o-centric coaching staff --- THOSE are the reasons I feel very strongly that this is the year Arizona really turns things around. They are real, concrete, exact reasons to me at least. Trying to predict a change before it happens is clearly not a bad thing. It's just that when you said "roll with the times", that's a statement about the present. None of this has happened yet. Edgerrin James, IMO, was a dynamic RB his first two years in the league. There is no disputing that. But, post-ACL tear, I think he's just been good. The Colts really didn't miss him much last year and I think a lot of his numbers were accumulated with the Colts by defenses that almost conceded the first three yards in order to better deal with the passing game. On the famous "stretch" plays that Indy runs, James rarely broke tackles....he was often 4 yards downfield before he was even touched. Not saying he was totally a product of the system, but his greatness post-2001 was largely based upon the system. Playing for almost anybody else, he would have been solid, but not special. Steven Jackson, for what it's worth, was a top five pick last year. It isn't like he was a sleeper or anything. I called him. It's in round 1 commentary page 2. No reply? Clash does realize this is a DAY draft, right? Didn't we do this last year- wait for him for long periods of the day, I mean?

I see some improvements with the Crads this season and for the record they have either the 4th or 5th easiest run schedule to conted with for 2007. I see Edge in the top 15 and could inch to 13 with double digit scores if possible. I e mailed Clash as well.

remote controller 143 Posted June 12, 2007 I have Edge as a first round back this year. Currently, I won't likely be taking him there, as I feel he will normally make the corner and a few. He is one of 5 backs I'm targeting for round 2. There is a back that is baffling me right now, as to him still being available, and it's not the back that sprked the great debate in the last draft. Back to edge. What I like is, what I feel is his safety. I don't feel that safety with Willis, or Maroney. I know he didn't perform that way last year but feel he is a good bet to retrun to top 10 back form. I have him neck and neck with Henry at 10 and 11. He is over posting on the mange....I guess we have to play second fiddle I bumped that thread and don't think he's been back since he posted it after his LJ pick. Clash normally shows up just at the right times, or at least often enough not to hold things up. That wasn't the case with the Jetdoc though, and his phone # seems as about as useless as t!ts on a boar. No reply? Clash does realize this is a DAY draft, right? Didn't we do this last year- wait for him for long periods of the day, I mean? What's the routine in this one Fumble? Is it a Mike call or do you have a time frame to work with? Small delays during the draft happen. The ones that p!ss me off are the ones that take place at 3:30 or so, then get safe harbour over night.

Captain Lou 0 Posted June 12, 2007 Funny, I had penciled in Owens for Clash right after I took Smith.
remote controller 143 Posted June 12, 2007 TO is consistent with his Jetdoc selection. There could be quite a few TD's between he and LJ.

If it's after 3:00 CDT, however, you do get safe harbor until the next morning, so to speak. Clash did fine with this pick. I was remembering him being gone a bit last year....I could be wrong. Captain Lou 0 Posted June 12, 2007 Let's warp the corner and try to get into the fourth. I will then leave you guys a cheat sheet for tomorrow. The more picks we can get in, the easier this will be. Thanks in advance.
Fumbleweed 547 Posted June 12, 2007 Clash, you have grown on me over the years and I really enjoy you being a part of mock drafts, the IBL, etc.,...despite your sometimes odd ways. I meant you no disrespect.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted June 12, 2007 Surprised Brown lasted this long. I think he and McGahee are valued almost identically.

Jackson and Brown? You gotta be kidding me. What a pair! ICE has gotta be pleased.

JScott 20 Posted June 12, 2007 I almost needed to revive myself with smelling salts. My wife just came into the room and said "What the hell are you doing on the floor?" ICEMAN I was drooling for a Brown/Wayne turn as I saw Ronnie sliding... great value for ICE. That being said, I targetted Wayne for one of my turn picks, so that worked out. He's already one of the top WRs in the league and as soon as Marvin starts to decline some (ala I.Bruce/T.Holt) I believe Wayne will move into the #1 Indy WR spot and in doing so elevate to top 3 WR status. Last season IMO Wayne moved onto the same level as Marvin. I feel this season he takes that slight step ahead.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 12, 2007 im pretty surprised to see ronnie brown so low. i still dont care for him, but thats good draft value and good upside there. shocked to see TO go so low, especially of that WR order. he's the #1 WR on my board and i dont see that changing. as i said before, if i could draft at the 6 spot and get addai/alexander and then TO, id be set. with clash, now having and LJ/TO combo, he has potentially the #1 guy at each position, and that is just sick.
