Pats Camera Man sending Signals?

Recommended Posts

Wasn't paying attention, but I heard something about a camera man sending signals to the opposing teams defense? NFL confiscated the tape? Camera man has been accused of this before?

Anyone know anything about this?

NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team's sideline during Sunday's game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said.

The camera and its tape were placed in a sealed box and forwarded to the league office for investigation, the sources said.

"We don't have any comment," an NFL spokesman said Monday.

The Patriots' cameraman was suspected of aiming his camera at the Jets' defensive coaches who were sending signals to their unit on the field, the sources said. The league also is investigating some radio frequency issues that occurred during the game.

The league's competition committee could conduct a conference call about the incident, which violates NFL policy, and ultimately recommend a penalty that could cost the Patriots a future draft pick or picks if it verifies that the team was spying on the Jets.

"It's not their first time," a member of the committee, who did not wish to be identified, said.

In fact, Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan confirmed a similar incident that occurred when the Patriots played at Lambeau Field last Nov. 19. The same cameraman who was questioned by NFL security on Sunday was also the one whom the Packers removed from the sideline and escorted from the field during their 2006 game, according to Packers security official Doug Collins.

"From what I can remember, he had quite a fit when we took him out," Harlan said. "We had gotten word before the game that they [the Patriots] did this sort of thing, so we were looking for it."

A Jets official declined comment Monday, directing an inquiry to the league office. The Patriots also did not have immediate comment.

Why does this not surprise me?

Thats why they blew out the Jets.........oh, I see. So it wasnt because the Jets were overmatched, its cause the Patriots cheated. I guess the Jets never heard of an audible then?

But if the Pats are so good and above everything, why do they do sh!t like this. This isn't the first time. What's next, someone on their team getting busted for HGH?? Oh wait..... :pointstosky:

They should take out the knees of opposing QB's in playoffs games instead, like the steelers. :overhead:

I was just typing in the same thing. Actually, I was going to type: "This is no big deal. It is not like one of our safeties was using HGH or any... Oh, wait. Nevermind" :overhead:

That would certainly explain why it looked like the Pats called every play to perfection on offense...even "genius" needs some extra help I guess. :pointstosky:

Why would they TAPE it then? How did they help them during the game? :overhead:

By no means am I saying that this is why the Jets lost, they were over-matched.

But how would they know they needed to audible if they didn't know they were being spied on?

Tuck rule :pointstosky:

A Steeler fan talking about the tuck rule after all the calls they were handed in their last title run, priceless :overhead: At least the refs never admitted they made a mistake on the tuck rule call.

I'm sure besides taping it, they were watching it as well. It's just stupid. They would have killed the Jets anyway, why open yourself up to this. The Pats are really starting to cause people to dislike them.

Pats arrogance=Yankees arrogance - I've said it before and I'll say it again.

:pointstosky: Why go there? :wall: If the Pats cheated then they should be punished... Doesn't need they should be grouped with some group that you feel you know well enough to speak about...

Guess I should preface this with "I assume you are talking about Yankees as the people and not the MLB team..."

bingo.

and I remember a day when Bledsoe was their QB and the fans were somewhat bashful, humble and enjoyable to talk football with. Some of the most loyal and knowledgeable around. Sadly after the 1st superbowl, the bandwagon filled up with "new breed" Pats fans - some youngsters who knew nothing of the suffering of their franchise past, and some jumped on board the winner's shoulders for a ride. They seem to be among the most obnoxious and arrogant fans in the game.

Mind you not all Pats fans - there's several here I know and respect. But that "new breed" seems to be in the majority now. Or they're just louder. lol

As for this crap, I wouldn't put it past any team. Asking what good taping it does is woefully ignorant - every camcorder has a monitor built in and on every one you can watch what you filmed. So if someone sees the play that was sent in and relays it to the offensive coordinator, instant TD. Obviously.

I know plenty about it. Yanks fan? Did I hurt your feelings?

Let me just clarify, it's the new breed Pats fan. The 20 somthing year olds who know nothing of Stanley Morgan and Steve Grogan.

Because I am NOT a basball fan, I assumed you were saying Yankees as a people not a MLB team... I owe an apology since I know nothing about the MLB Yankees...

Its always about the cameraman when these two play.

The Patriots are just plain better then the Jets.

But that has nothing to do with what this topic and article are about. The Patriots are being accused of stealing signals, and this apparently is not new to the patriots.

"This shouldnt surprise anyone" because the patriots are known for trying to get every advantage possible over their oppenants.

This is insane. The Pats doing this would be like a heavily favored Republican candidate authorizing the break-in of the Democratic campaign headquarters.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I will go so far as to say every defensive signal is being watched in some way by the opposing team.

With Bill and the Patriots organization's history of playing head games with the opposition it would not surprise me if the cameraman was a decoy to get them thinking about things other than the game. Get them to freak out and switch up signals and whatnot mid game.

For something like that, I'd almost say they should have to forfeit the game. Assuming it's true and can be proven, of course.

He wasn't stealing Jets' signals. He was actually scoping the crowd to see if there are any other Giants' secretaries for Belichick to bang.

This explains how the Pats were able to decimate the Vikings secondary last year! CONSPIRACY!

Sarcasm aside, cheating is not cool. I hope Goodell weighs something like this very heavily and it costs more than draft picks if it's true.

The Pats have been like this for years, only winning has kept their darker side from coming out like this. They were caught doing exactly the same thing last year against the Packers, so its NOT an isolated incident.

Do they need to do this? No they don't... but they think they can get away with it so they do it. This kind of thing starts at the top.... No wonder their players think cheating is okay too.

If they prove this was happening AGAIN... they should take draft picks and the game away from them,

The report said something about the Jet's defensive coachs being taped. Audible defensive plays?

It was funny listening to Boomer Esiason talking about this today. He was saying that since the first football game ever played, there have been people trying to steal signs. This is nothing new to the Patriots or any other team. It just goes to the gamesmanship between the Jets and Patriots.

Expect a silent fine to come out of it if the Pats are determined to have been involved in any way.

They will need more than Moss and a camera man in the grassy knoll to beat the Colts.

I wish the Jets would have had a guy sending them signals. :music_guitarred:

All I can say is... More power to the Pats. And hopefully next time the Jets can play better. :wall:
