The Pooper called the Po-Po's on us!

Recommended Posts

So, Friday I am walking form the bus stop to my place when I see Mrs. DaveBG driving towards the front of the development. I figured she was running out to the store, so I flag her down to see where she's going. She was on her way to the management office in the hopes that someone would still be there, as she had just gotten into a confrontation w/the Poop Lady.

As Mrs. DaveBG was pulling in to park by our place she had seen the Poop Lady picking up the mess that her dog made on the balcony. Mrs. DaveBG confronted her and told her that she's not supposed to do that and she knows it...that she's been told by the board/management.

Then I went up there and asked her just what it would take for her to follow the rules. We had a big back and forth. She kept going back to the fact that her dog is old and sick and can't always make it outside. I kept pointing out the fact that she knew her dog's condition when she moved in to a 5th floor condo, that she needs to follow the rules and that it's a filthy practice.

She actually believes that she's doing everyone a favor by not taking it out and risking that it poop in the hallways. I point out to her that, as it states in the rules, if that happens then it's her responsibility. I told her that if the dog needs to go more often then she needs to walk it more often. If that means she has to come home for lunch or can't go out shopping all day or needs to hire a dog walker, then that's what she needs to do.

She blathers about how she celans up w/a wet paper towel and I point out what a great disinfectant water is.

Oh yeah, did I mention that when she opened the door her daughter was already on the phone w/the cops? I'm not sure if they were on b/c of Mrs. DaveBG or picked it up when I knocked, but by the time I got back down stairs two patrol cars were already there. They took her statement and mine. They told me that she did not allege that I made any threats, but had said that I was "banging on their door." At that point I pulled out my digital camera, which I had set to record video while in my pocket, so I had the whole thing on tape. I showed them how I had just used the knocker on the door.

The cops left, as there was no crime committed and advised me that I may want to file suit in municipal court. they also advised her that if she feels as though she's being harassed, she too can file suit.

Ah...good times...good times.

bus stop?

you sure that Manhattan area really isnt harlem?

Mass transit...that's how people commute into Manhattan. I'd use the new ferry that my town put in, but I work in Times Sq, so Port Authority is more convenient for me.

I can see Manhattan when I walk out of my door, so I'm pretty close and don't really feel like paying through the nose to park in a garage in Times Sq every day.

Posion the dog. My inbred inlaws did this when a Great Dane bit my wife when she was a little girl. Even after the attack, which because of blood poisioning put Mrs. kutulu in the hospital for a month, the neighbors wouldn't keep the dog on a leash. So they posioned the pooch, deathwish style.

Well, I'd rather not go all Michael Vick on an innocent animal. It's not the dog's fault.

Although, the Poop Lady keeps threatening to put the dog to sleep, to which I say:

1) Maybe that's a good idea. I mean, if the dog's so ill that it can't make it down an elevator to go outside, then maybe it's time.

2) Maybe the solution is to just walk the dog more often, rather than leave it home alone all day. Come home for lunch, hire a dog walker...or just gate the dog into the kitchen and lay down a bunch of newspaper. I would think that the Poop Lady would want to try any one of these possible solutions before putting down this dog that she claims to care for so much.

Yes, it is in Times Sq, but other than that, I don't know anything about it. I don't know that I've ever stayed in a hotel room in NYC.

As a general rule, all hotel rooms in NYC are small. Be sure to request one w/a window b/c many hotels have rooms in the middle of the floor, which means no windows. You don't want to be in a tiny NYC hotel room w/no windows...you will literally feel as though you are in a closet.

You're more obsessed with poop than Joneo. Let it go man. Life is way too short for you to be making such a big deal out of this. She is two floors above you and cleans up the poop immediately. Big focking deal already. There will be a nice spot in h.e.l.l. reserved for you for picking on the old lady.

This story has really jumped the shark IMO

I would have agreed if there wasn't the potential for someone to now go to jail or be on tv for something, it now has new life... :dunno:

my biggest question is who would be better - springer or judge judy? i'm leaning toward springer. i dont think judge judy would let you fling dog poop at each other...

Yeah, my loyalties are really starting to shift a bit here. I mean, on the one hand, I can appreciate Dave's neurotic fear of aerial dog poop. On the other hand, we're talking about an old lady and her sick old dog. :overhead:

You should try to adopt one of Michael Vick's former dogs.

She's not that old. I'd say she's in her 50's. She goes to work, she goes shopping all day w/her daughter (who lives w/her)...so it's not as if we're talking about some 90 year old shut-in.

Plus, as I've pointed out to her, she knew that her dog was old and had special needs when she decided to move into a 5th floor condo. The problem isn't even that the dog can't make it outside...it's that the dog can't make it outside when she leaves it home alone all day. Last week I watched as she and her daughter came home around 9pm w/armfulls of shopping bags...only to have her let the dog out on the blacony once they got upstairs. I'm sorry, but I don't have any sympathy for someone who would rather spend the day out at the mall while her old dog is left home the whole time, barely able to keep its kidneys from bursting.

As I told the Poop Lady, the dog needs to be walked more frequently. If that means that she has to adjust her schedule by coming home at lunch or that she has to interrupt a day out or that she needs to hire a dog walker, then that's what she needs to do.

She keeps trying to frame it as I'm a big meanie who wants her to put the dog to sleep. If that's what she decides then that's her decision to make, but it's not b/c of me. Rather, it's b/c she doesn't want to make the effort and change her lifestyle to accomodate this dog that she claims to care for so deeply.

I'd love to. All she has to do is give me the keys. Then I'll go out and get a big bucket of thermonuclear wings and a six pack of really sh|tty beer. Then I'll go Tub Girl all over her focking place.

fixored.

I am a lifelong dog owner and dog lover (as a pet, not a partner). I'm with you Dave. This woman is filthy, disgusting and uncaring about both her dog and her neighbors. As I said before, I would not only notify management every time this occurs, I would also call the local Health Dept. If the dog is pooping out there, it's also making it rain (and I don't mean Pacman style).

Have you talked to the neighbor directly below her about this? They should be even more upset than you.

Yes, in addition to reporting it to the board and management, I have also called the health dept a few times. In fact, I put a call in to the Health Inspector today and am waiting for him to call me back.

I have also called the municipal court and spoke to the certified court admin today. I am supposed to call her back tomorrow, as she was going to ask the judge if his court is the correct forum for this matter.

Mrs. DaveBG and I are good friends w/the neighbors right above us. They are in total agreement w/us on this and have also submitted complaints to management and the board.

ETA: Like you, it is the other dog owners in the building to are the most disgusted and disturbed by this (other than me, the Mrs. and the folks right above us.) Actually, she tried to pull the old "Do you have pets" thing on me...to which I informed her that I have owned two dogs in my lifetime, so I know exactly what it's like to care for a dog and the responsibility that it entails.

If there's a sixth floor, I'd say you drop trou and start dropping a few fat man's and little boys on her patio. Preferably, right ON the dog itself.

That'll learn 'em!

Start an eviction petition if nothing else works. Also, try the ASPCA. They may give you some hints on what to do. If this dog is left alone so long that it can't wait to get to the real outdoors, it is being abused. I am not drinking the "sick dog" Koolaid.

Sounds to me like the truth is that she is just lazy and uncaring about her dog or anyone else.

Yes, I am an evil, evil man for wanting the new resident to follow the rules.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone w/the helath inspector. He told me that he has informed mgmt that this is not allowed. Mgmt has told him that they would fine Poop Lady, if I were to call him when it was happening and he saw it. I told the health inspector that mgmt is talking out of both sides of his mouth, as when I've had physical evidence he deemed it unworthy of him coming to take a look. Furthermore, how am I supposed to get him to come see it when it happens after her leaves at 5PM?

I have to get a copy of the police report b/c if she admits to what she's been doing in the report the health dept can issue her a summons.

Set up a webcam and internet site. I know I would be interested in watching a dog crap and a crazy lady flinging it at her neighbors like a monkey.

Mrs. DaveBG didn't want to go back up there, so I was going alone. No way I was doing that w/out some sort of evidence, just in case they alleged that I threatened them or something like that.

ETA: In fact, when the police said that they told them I was "banging on their door", I denied it. Then one of the officers said that I should never go up there w/out a witness. Then I pulled out my camera and showed them how I had just used the knocker on the door.
