Guest _my_2_cents_ Posted September 23, 2007 Steve Young was not thought of as a slob. Nobody gets a lifetime contract to play QB because he's a slob. Young didn't take as much heat as McNabb, bud. Remember, the 49ers already had a few Super Bowl victories under their belt. The Eagles are still without a Super Bowl title, and that's what drives the animosity towards McNabb. If the Eagles were 2-0, and if McNabb had a passer rating over 100 and this interview aired, would you still be saying the same thing? I think the debate's run it's course. You are really off base now. You can school me all day on past Eagles QBs, but I am telling you with 100% certainty: very few Niners fans embraced Steve Young and the medio killed him. I remember the superbowl runs of Montana well - we had season tickets from '79 through '91 and I was able to witness most of it first hand. But I also remember Steve Young getting booed when a drive resulted in a punt, interception, etc - anything but a TD and the fans were booing him for now being Joe Cool. I remember him getting blasted in the papers every day. I remember fans holding him to the standard we'd been used to on those SB runs in Montana. If you think McNabb's been criticized more than Steve Young in his 1st year as a starter or any other year until he won the big one, you're high or living on another planet, because Young was roasted daily by the press for years. Nothing was good enough until he won the superbowl and got that monkey off his back. Nothing. And he's white as Christmas. There - now this topic's run it's course. I think we both can agree that both Young and McNabb are special QBs who were/are unfairly criticized by the media/fans in the respective cities. Young had a chance to get the monkey off his back at the tail end of his career. Hopefully, McNabb gets the opportunity to do the same.

Mephisto 15 Posted September 24, 2007 MacGay, in years past, you have proven as easy to put down as a practice dog at Vick's Ranch and I've grown tired of bothering to continue on such an easy target. Really, I'm thrilled that you are excited that the Eagles are not performing well. I am. Guess what? Eagles lose at home to the Lions. I win. Again.

Like i said early on, I think McNabb is a talent and I used to root for him. And he did what he had to do yesterday: let his play speak for him. If he does more of that and less whining about being criticized more for being black I'll start to respect him more.

NewbieJr 541 Posted September 24, 2007 I win. Again. He's the board punching bag. Makes claim after claim and takes potshots week after week at the Eagles and their fans, only to be made an ass out of, time and time again.

phillybear 366 Posted September 24, 2007 Did any of the pussies that are pregame hosts call out McNabb for his blatantly racist, self serving comments this Sunday, or did I miss it? Did they pussie foot around the issue, saying that you need to see it from McNabb's view point. How about ole pudding head Tom Jackson? He almost cried when the talked about the Rush Limbaugh comments the week after it happened. Did he call out McNabb for making racist comments too? :crickets: Bunch of assbags. I hope all the pundents get irritable bowel syndrome for the rest of their lives. Let's see how comfortable you are sitting on those chairs for a couple of hours, breathing in each others stink. And I sincerely hope McNabb gets a brain tumor and dies. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
NewbieJr 541 Posted September 24, 2007 And I sincerely hope McNabb gets a brain tumor and dies. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. What has McNabb ever done to indicate he's not a 'nice' guy?
phillybear 366 Posted September 24, 2007 What has McNabb ever done to indicate he's not a 'nice' guy? McNabb continually bringing up how the fans booed him at the draft. He has been fanning the flames of a feud with the fans. McNabb's unprovoked attacks in the media on Terrell Owens. McNabb talked Andrea Yates into drowning her kids. The fans did boo McNabb at the draft. He turned out to be a much better investment than Ricky Williams. McNabb had one of his life's best moments tarnished by a few idiots. If you're honestly taking Owens' side in that dispute, you are Mackgee-level stupid. If #3 is true, I agree, McNabb is not nice.

KSB2424 3,148 Posted September 24, 2007 McNabb's comments on HBO were very Barry Bonds'esque. Yet NewbieJr stands up for him.

Those fans were booing the Eagle's management for the pick. Not McNabb. He just doesn't get it. Do you think all those picks the Jet's fans booed at the draft over the years cry every chance they get about being picked and booed. Those idiot fans are good eggs. 2. There is blame on both parties. Except McNabb get firing jabs in the media, long after Owens shut up and stopped talking about it. 3. The youtube video of the McNabb standing over her shoulder while she drowns her kids is riveting.

When did you ever hear him bitching about that? I'd love to see a link. Of course McNabb was pissed about the TO-thing. McNabb was the undisputed leader of a perenial Super Bowl contender, and had to watch one player tear his team apart from the inside. Would you like him to make comments about what a gifted athlete Owens is? Of course i think his race-related comments are stupid, but they fall in line with 90% of the black population who think that everything they do is more difficulat than it is for the white man. That's instilled in them at birth, I guess. It's not like he insulted Manning or Palmer or any white players. black self-pity and entitlement is the rule, not the exception. It hardly makes the guy a villian.

He must mention it a lot during game prep interviews with the announcers, because they end up mentioning it a lot during the course of Eagle games. TO was a big part of the best Eagles team in their current run. TO was the league's MVP before he got hurt. McNabb is bitter that he only had one decent receiver in his career to throw to, and their personalities clashed. McNabb and Reid were just as guilty as Owens, in my opinion. But that is old news. McNabb DID insult Palmer and Manning. He said that they never had it as hard as McNabb. Never mind all the abuse Manning took for being a playoff choker until winning it last year. Playoff choker. Hmm. Sounds exactly like what is said about McNabb. I don't have any issue with McNabb's play at QB. He is an above average QB who has enjoyed success in his career. I just think he sucks as a person.
