my driver is on vacation this week, and I will be fending for myself.

any ideas what to tip?

Depends on where you are and how much the valet charge is. I usually give at least $3 and sometimes $5 when I don't have any singles.

I never tip anyone for anything under 5 bucks. I even tip the shoe shine guy 5 bucks. it's 2007, what the fock good is 2 bucks?

Just this morning I was walking to the train and this kid I used to go to high school with saw me. He ran up to me and hugged me. "HOW ARE YOU" yeah, he's a crack head and he's all focked up. He asked me for money. I opened my wallet and all I had was a 5, so I gave it to him. he needs it a lot more than I do.

How much is crack anyway?

I go with two if I don't think the place should even have valet. I go with three if it's a nice place, and I go with 5 if I give the guy some instructions like, "I'm going to be leaving in about 15 minutes. If you can keep it up front I'd appreciate it."

Then again, I hate valet parking. I would much rather just park my own car instead of having some mook mess my settings and half the time they can't even figure out how to turn it off correctly since I have one of those push button starts.

I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

What about a bartender? I give a buck everytime I get a drink and it really starts to add up. As far as valet goes, I agree with $5. I came out of a hotel one morning and only had $2 to give the guy who went somewhere and parked my car and then went back to get it. Compared to the guy who spends 20 seconds pouring me a beer the valet guy deserves at least a 5. I felt like such a tool handing him $2.

Not 5 everytime, but 5 every few drinks.
