This is the year he turns it around. He'll bat over .300 have a few timely Home runs and at least two big defensive plays. The Yanks will find another way to choke out of the playoffs however.

And I pray A-Rod skips town next year. Any fan base that could boo him or Jeter deserves to have their team bought by Peter Angelos.

Good one! C'mon take this seriously.

He has to step it up..this year's playoffs are going to have a huge impact on the legacy of his career. I think he might finally have a full steam of confidence behind him.

I hope he jumps ship to the BoSox and helps them win a couple more titles.

And as stated above I hope Angelos sells the O's and buys the Yankees after Steinbrenner kicks the bucket. And I ALSO hope George lives just long enough to watch Rivera blow game 6 of the ALCS.

He did well last night....er, um.....

GO TRIBE!!!!!! :bench:

Well, if you use Bonds-speak (as Edjr and his cronies like to), ARod had a .500 on base percentage. That's awesome!

AROD 0 - 2 with 2 walks

Lofton 3 - 4 with 4 RBI

A-Rod went 0-1 against the likely CY Young winner, drawing 2 walks. Not exactly the collapse people were praying for.

Also, if A-Rod had gotten a hit in his last at bat, (when the Yankees were down by 8), the haters would have said that he can't get a hit when it counts and he's just padding his stats.

People are going to draw their own skewed conclusions no matter what happens.

David Ortiz went 2 for 2 with a walk and a 2 run homer against the league leader in Earned run average who also has as many wins as the guy ARod faced. Some guys just shine a little brighter when the wins mean a little more.

I predict .267 1 hr 2 rbi. yanks lose in 4.

And if we were doing a playoff comparison between ARod and Ortiz, your point may be relevant. :dunno:

Why can't you admit he's not a good post season performer? It's not unheard of for good players to not be good in the post season.

I will certainly admit that he hasn't been good in the postseason. My only point was that people are a little too eager to jump on him after last night's game.

Fair enough and good point.

I want ARod to succeed, especially next year when he's playing for the Red Sox. :dunno:

Seriously. I can appreciate a great player no matter team he plays for. And Arod is one of the best ever, it's a shame he hasn't been able to play well in the post season.

Worry not Yankees fans. Barry Bonds will look great in pinstrips next year. :dunno:

You do realize that ARod almost single-handedly carried the Yankees to the playoffs in the first place, don't you?

He could get drunk and forget to show up for the rest of the games and the Yanks would still have to thank him for getting them where they are.

Also, tell me why a Barry Bonds game with two walks is great (and a show of the pitchers fear and great respect), but when ARod gets on base twice with a walk, it's a bad game?

This should be good. :dunno:

The dirty little secret is that it doesn't matter as much as the pitching. Last night Wang sucked and the Yanks got blown out. Tonight Pettitte is money and they have shot.

It would be nice for A-Rod to hit a Hr and give them a cushion, but the playoffs are about pitching. HTH!

A home run, or even a base hit, in that situation, could have been a career redefining moment for ARod.

That strikeout was bad. Not so much from a baseball standpoint, but from a psychological one. It is widely known that ARod is a headcase. If he starts believing the 'choker' thing, he's done. He puts a lot of pressure on himself and doesn't have the ability to close his ears and shut things out. He's going to REALLY be overthinking and pressing now.

great point Newbie. Arod did carry this team of underachievers to the playoffs. Why can't one of the other $20 million Yankees "be clutch"? Just wait can't to see the Yankees fans' faces when he leaves NYC this offseason

A-Rod 2007---

A. Rodriguez .267 2Runs, 4Hits, 1HR, 1RBI, 2BB, 6SO

Certainly not MVP numbers, that's for sure. I think the fact that he went 4 for his last 9 with a home run, gives him a little cusion with the Yankee fans.

The real choker in this series was Wang. He is a Cy Young candidate and had two horrific and short outings, both resulting in Yankee losses.
