Thats the problem with being in the WAC, neither team gets a lot of respect as far as the BCS goes. A victory for Hawaii will mean a lot more than a victory for BSU. Was a bit funny to see Jones asking the fans to behave, though I've lived in Hawaii my whole life, and have had any problems with being haole (white). In fact 80% of my friends are Hawaiian or local guys. Because UH is a commuter school by and large, you get all walks of life at the games. The good natured ribbing that probably happens at most games, gets taken personally by some UH fans who are not accustomed to the banter exchanged between opposing fans...hence the fights. Back to the game. For UH it means everything. We have no professional sport team to follow, so the closest thing we have is the Warrior football team. We do not have the easiest time recruiting being so far away from the continental US, so Jones has to take a shot on players that other programs may shy away from due to legal problems or what have you. To Jones' credit, he has not missed on any to my knowledge, and does a great job of doing background checks and gathering as much information on players character etc. before signing him. People call his system "gimmicky" or something similar, but the truth is, imo, he has done what UH HAS to do to compete. We are not going to get the blue chippers here, so lining up in some fashion of a pro set will not work here, we simply don't have the skill set players available. I feel your pain. I grew up in St. Louis, where I was used to professional baseball, football, and hockey (and a little bit of basketball in the late 70's). I thought on the news last night they said the warriors were ranked #1 in offense and #2 in defense. The Broncos were ranked #2 in offense and #1 in defense.
